Spell Learning - 'Aspect of the Beast' (As of 07/19/15, finished 08/21/15) [2015/07/26 15:16:46] (no name) Padishar was being productive for once, scribbling some stuff into a scroll and keeping an eye on something settled on the table ahead of him. He wasn't an alchemist, so that might seem odd. But on closer inspection, it was just a cup of tea... and he didn't want to overbrew it. When Meri approached, he didn't look up, "Dearest mage, it's lovely for you to join me. I have something for you." holding the just-finished scroll out at her, "Aspect of the Beast... You're going to need this. And we're totally going to practice because we're both gluttons for punishment."
[2015/07/26 15:20:14] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) padded into the shop, her right arm curled against her belly and her left holding... a really long, branch, a little twisted, and with pieces at the end as she had it balanced over her left shoulder and dashed him a little smile "Well good afternoon to you too..." Sniffing the air and peering at the cup before relaxing and letting the branch slide down carefully off her shoulder to tip it against the scroll case, then took the page with her left hand. "Oh wonderful.. I was looking forward to this, thank you." Her soft smile on her lips only slightly strained.
[2015/07/26 15:32:55] (no name) Padishar smiles at her and grins briefly but... he hesitates, he could tell there was something wrong, "What.. You still upset about the other night?" he reaches to scratch his cheek, "I didn't make out with Aerodine, you don't have to be jealous or anything." his hands reach for the tea and settle it right in his lap, "Or is it something more serious? The little beasties that ate the Satyr? You aren't upset that we didn't save those people, are you?"
[2015/07/26 15:46:25] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) blinked at him, totally thrown off-base "I... what? No, I don't care about whatever you did or didn't do with Aerodine.. I just... needed some space. And time I guess." Her voice fading off, brows furrowed and the smile that had lit her features faded, "It wasn't any of that though I know we couldn't have done anything for those people, I just ... hope they're ok - I haven't had the nerve to go into the village yet, to see what the news is, if any. But the new Captain of the Guard came by yesterday morning... he hadn't even heard about it." That was a ... strange conversation, and yet, strangely nice as well... Meri's brows furrowed a bit more as she considered then "Oh, he wants to talk to you too. I don't think he disbelieves me, but there was that hint of 'Lady, you're crazy' in his eyes for a moment there..."
[2015/07/26 15:51:52] (no name) Padishar frowns a bit and nods, dropping the topic and going back to business, "That's fine. I'll speak with him whenever he and I can get around to it. Will you be able to study that scroll tonight and then we can practice sometime this week? I think you'll be able to pull it off pretty easily. You already know your fair share of natural magics." he smiles, "Saves a lot of time." now he sips his tea and taps his thigh a bit, "I think I need to learn some new magic myself... But I feel it might be wise to simply study and improve my own magical talents... I want to get better with magic itself." he spoke softly now, between a sip of tea, "This place is so limiting."
[2015/07/26 16:02:29] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan)'s eyes refocused, her gaze flicking back to him as she blinks a few times as if to clear her head, her hand kinda shoving the scroll under her other arm with a wince, and opening her pouch to put it in "I can read up on it tonight, of course, thank you." She'd lean over and kiss just about where one of his horns would have been. "Thank you... I'm sorry I've been such a bother. That... that has bothered me more than anything else. I hate being... breakable, I really do." Her eyes flicking to his and biting down on her lip as she tipped her head and perused him a moment "No reason why you couldn't do both... I.. I'm sorry that it's difficult on you."
[2015/07/26 16:07:05] (no name) Padishar smiles at her and shakes his head, "You are not too breakable. You are no more fragile than most of the people on this island... You have to put this in perspective." he chuckles and leans tries to tug her close for a kiss on the lips. "You are my summoner, you are anything but weak. You just don't do well with physical injury... That's something I can work with." he tilts his head a bit and grins, bumping her softly with his forehead, affectionate more than painful. "The more you learn, the stronger you'll become. When I'm done with you, you'll be a force to be reckoned with. Remember this.."
[2015/07/26 16:12:55] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) moved against him with a soft smile, her eyes falling shut and only the faint wince from her wing coloring her expression. though she'd take the kiss as it was offered and brushed her lips back against his then chuckled wryly at the head bump. "Oh, I haven't forgotten, trust me... I just ... in a way - I wish it was sooner rather than later... that's all." Her eyes opened and her fingers brushed over his cheek as they peered at each other. "Believe me.. I'm... just waiting."
[2015/07/26 16:15:19] (no name) Padishar laughs a little and grins at her, "I have a plan, Meri. Might be able to help you sooner than later... But for now, I want to master some more of my magic on the whole. Maybe learn some new magics on the side. Oh.." he paused and smiles a little, "May I borrow say... twenty silver?"

07/26/15:
[21:23] Merialeth Windstar curled up on the bed, her eyes flicking over at the sleeping Padi, and back to the page she'd pulled from her pouch, unrolling it one-handed and using her toes to hold the bottom in place. Her right hand still curled awkwardly about her waist, trying not to jar her wing as she started reading over the scroll, her lips tracing the words and as she went along, she'd murmur the words of the spell, testing them on her tongue, though not really trying to cast it, just get a sense for it. The shivers rolling through her as the Magic seemed to loom in the air and she'd feel the vestiges of it trying to take hold. The furrow of her brow, and breaking off as she tried to re-word it in Elven. There were times that not knowing Demonic was a pain in the ass.
[21:28] Merialeth Windstar waited for the teasing sensation of the spell to fade from the air and her, before trying to go through the page again, translating as she went. The words seemed smoother now, the intent more clear and as she continued along, she'd start chanting the words without even thinking, the rush building up within til she'd see the vestige of the shimmering claw over her outstretched hand start to form. Stopping short, Meri'd blink and peer at her hand as it faded before offering a bit of a squeal of both surprise and delight, before diving back into the scroll.
[2015/07/27 08:21:03] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): /me had fallen into Reverie reading that new scroll, her fingers still caught on the tracing of the page, and her cheek with the soft imprint of her fingers beside. Bright green gaze snapped out of her musings, the smile that had curved her lips in her dreams suddenly fading as she moved and groaned. That blasted wing, though mostly healed, still ached, and though she didn't begrudge the time it was taking "I'm just tired of hurting..." The soft sigh on her breath as the words slipped from her lips, only to glance about and realize that thankfully for once, she was alone. "Nothing like being convinced your summoner is going crazy, hearing her talk to herself, eh?"
[2015/07/27 08:25:14] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): /me of course, as soon as -those- words slipped from her mouth, well that certainly didn't add to the idea at all! Mhm.. The shake of her head and her eyes flicking towards the page, hoping that she hadn't... no, whew, hadn't damaged it. She could just see in her mind's eye the laughter on Padi's lips as she had to explain she'd er... damaged the scroll by getting it wet, 'and what was this line supposed to say here'? Oi... Both hands rubbed over her face, a glance cast towards the ewer of water near the far side of the bed and a shake of her head. Focus Meri, focus... and drifted back into reading once again, her brows furrowed and the words mouthed as she started all over again - from the top...
[2015/08/08 15:38:25] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) curls up against him, her eyes closed and nuzzling against his chest... The soft sigh on her breath as she murmurs "I've been playing around with the Beast spell... practicing and such. I think I've got it almost down." A flick of her eyes up at him as she smiles and lifts her hand in the air. The soft hum on her breath as she drew her magic together, the tendrils of light and warmth pulling towards her as she concentrated.
[2015/08/08 15:42:51] Padishar Ishtari watches and doesn't interrupt, keeping an eye on her hand and his arms around her patiently, "You've been practicing the information I gave you, yes?" he purrs a little and stays close for now, curious if she'd decide to go all beastly mode or if she was just toying with the magic required for it. "I've... been studying that Imposed Demand spell quite a bit... It's difficult." he grins, "And I can't exactly practice it on you, either... Some forces at play there might stop it... Mmm... Our sparring was good though." he nods and shifts a bit to watch her better. "Try thinking of the animals you -have- seen and focus on what the exaggerated version of their armaments would be. Like a cat's claws... but think of them your size and more jagged... Hopefully you've seen many different animals in your travels, for reference."
[2015/08/08 15:58:41] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) just nodded as far as the possible conflicts, it had been the only thing holding her back from offering him the practice. Not that she hadn't grown to trust him, just that - well - it'd be kinda weird and likely would fail anyway, and she didn't want either of them risking any flash back effects. Her humming grew louder as she felt the strands seem to coalesce around her hand and upper arm... the sheer impression of claws and heavy fur as her skin crawled and she shivered hard in his embrace, but - it wasn't -quite- there. The Magic and the image disappearing even faster than it had appeared in a quick flash of light and her body slumping against him... The soft panting breaths as she furrowed her brows and finally glanced from her fingers to his face. "Almost... A little more studying and I think I'll get it..." She'd nod resolutely, her expression determined. "And yes, the sparring was good, and fun, though... maybe not that last blow!" she'd grin a little, bringing that hand to rub at her chest [2015/08/08 15:58:41] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): where she'd remembered the soreness afterwards and the skipping of her heart.
[2015/08/08 16:11:51] Padishar Ishtari grins at her, "I got you pretty good, didn't I... At the end there. Not during the whole thing, I was way off. The heavy armor in this place just throws everything out of order..." he leans against her and nudges her shoulder, "Try again. Think talons... like a hawk. And fur like a bear. I'll support how I can from here." he purrs, staying close and holding her lightly. She couldn't exactly steal his energy without some more effort, but he was being supportive.
[2015/08/08 16:21:07] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) snorted under her breath but nodded, her grin returning as she muttered "Lucky shot... I so had you the rest of the time..." then let her eyes close again. The soft hum of music passing her lips, the growing volume, shifting to a soft descant then rising again as the tendrils of light and warmth filled the air once more and grew to spin about her outstretched fingers and teased along her arm. Her mind's eye envisioning the effect she wanted, the pale luminescence again beginning to form about her limb as she [2015/08/08 16:21:44] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): as she concentrated and tried once more.
[2015/08/08 16:38:35] Padishar Ishtari watched and gently stroked her shoulder, encouraging her to get the spell correctly and focused in this time. Maybe she wouldn't, but he was proud of her so far. "You fight like a mongoose, I fight like a bear... It works out fine either way, depending." he chuckles softly. "Almost..." he says lightly, watching the magic wrap around her to cause the intended effect.
[2015/08/08 16:46:58] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) was driven, her attention fully on the building power of her spell, the soft descant growing louder again and a note of pure Song passed her lips as the spell built, the swirling lights slowly coming together as she struggled to get the damned spell right, but as his words teased through her ears with his closeness, that concentration broke as she turned her head to stare at him, that flash of light again winking out as the image faded about her hands. "A mongoose...? I don't know what that is, but it certainly sounds like a silly creature to compare me to... I may not be ferocious like yourself, but I'm hardly a long-necked, feathered, noisy... well.. hm..." breaking off, her eyes narrowing and staring at him again... "Explain what this 'mongoose' is." Her voice for once, almost peremptory.
[2015/08/08 17:00:16] Padishar Ishtari laughs, "The mongoose kills poisonous snakes because it can dodge and resist their poison... They're actually quite terrifying to run into in the wild. Like a slinky badger..." he shrugs and chuckles and sighs at her, "You broke your concentration to argue with me about a compliment. Bad form.." he chastises. "You can't break concentration, even if it is a taunt or a tease... You have to stay focused. That is the only way to survive with magic on the field..." he hesitates a little, "Though I don't think you should go to any battlefield.."
[2015/08/08 17:10:20] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) just lifted a brow "Had it been anywhere else or anyone else, I wouldn't have... but - being compared to an unknown beast... well - I needed the clarification." Meri'd shrug a bit and curl back into him, letting her eyes close once more and considered the new information "Terrifying... me? Hardly... Thank you for the thought though." Her lips pursed, pressing a kiss to his cheek, then buried herself against him, the rest of his statement coming clear "I may not be terrifying of ferocious, but I'm not completely helpless either. I did help with that Balwrath, remember?" And ok, so she ran like hell with that damned party and the fae-touched, but that wasn't her fault. She would have stayed otherwise. She'd quiet, shoulder slumping a little and her fingers curling in tight against her as she growled softly under her breath and concentrated once more... even if she didn't get it - she had to try one more time... Her fists balled against her chest between them, the usual soft descant more of an [2015/08/08 17:10:20] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): angry cry as she built up the Magic again and poured it into her spell. The mist growing and coalescing once more, seeming to push them apart a little bit as she felt the power grow - and just when she thought she'd finally gotten it, it blinked out one more time and she'd sag against him once more. "Almost.... had ... it..."
[2015/08/08 17:17:33] Padishar Ishtari nods at her and lets her cuddle close. He gives her a gentle little smooch on top of her head and rests his own eyes a moment. "I'm going to meditate a bit.. This plane is still odd... Like, the energy doesn't match with what I think it should be. If that makes sense. I think that's the major reason I can't seem to get a break with the armor I wear. The metal should be resonating with the energy around... but it doesn't. No harmony here on this island..." he mutters a bit and rests his eyes, concentrating on his own training. Seeking out that harmony he was almost convinced didn't exist. "Been studying... Imposed Demand on paper for a while... It's not hard. I think I'll have it down soon... just need a good test subject."
[2015/08/08 17:23:32] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded and sighed softly, her jaw tense for a moment, then finally quietened... The practice was annoying her that she hadn't gotten it quite yet... but soon. Soon she'd have it down and then, well - they'd see. It'd be the first actual offensively-directed spell for her, she was more than a little bit excited at the idea. "Meditating sounds like a good idea... " her arms still curled tight about her and her wing stretching to flutter a little bit before it too, nestled against him. "I think a little break for reverie... just a little 'nap' of sorts... then maybe I'll try again. Or we can play dodgebolt again." She'd grin a little at the horrible pun and settled against him, relaxing slowly. [2015/08/08 17:25:09] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) added almost half-out of her awareness "Maybe we'll have to find you someone, or something to practice on..."
8/15: [09:18:49] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan)'s belly was nicely full from breakfast, the soft sigh of repletion on her lips as she had leapt into the sky... The warmth of the food in her belly and her exultation at getting closer to mastering this spell, had her spinning about delightedly in the air. The rush of Magic coming to her lips as Song as she worked once more to bring the tendrils of light to form about her hands, they were so close and yet so far again... the claws seeming to form, then shredding away like the mist they were, vapor that blew away with the wind. Her soft sigh on her breath as she spiraled down and made her way to the water's edge. Usually far more wary, but the sun was bright and warm, and Meri was in a good mood. She didn't even think to hide her wings, rare enough with her feet on the ground. She'd settle close to watch the frogs hopping about for a while before shifting her attention back to her hand again as she prepared to try once more. [09:29:20] (no name) Morrigan had taken a moment settle in the tall grasses, trying to decide what glamour to wear, but she just couldn't decide. She would have flipped her look right there, but the air filled with the sounds of another. Tilting her head to the side, slowly turning with a few flicks of her dark wings. As her ghostly gaze looked around she didn't see anything. Determined to find its source she would traipse closer, flicking her wings a few times to lift off the the ground slowly. Eventually she came to the edge of the grasses, finding a winged woman sitting. Purring out softly, "Hello..." trying to hide her mischievous grin. [09:32:59] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) drew her strength together and her Magic once more, the soft lilting hum on her breath as she fell into herself. She'd done incantations, reagents, all sorts of different methods for casting, but this seemed to come easiest to her now, and so she'd Sing her request into building the artifice of that form she envisioned. Her hand before her softly glowing as the energy pooled around at her call, her gaze warming as she felt perhaps this might be it... only to get startled out of her musings, the Magic fled in a rush and her head craning around behind her with a flutter of wings as she peered behind and .. upwards? Well, that was different. "Hello there..." Meri's gaze flicking over the other's form, head tilted as she dipped her head politely and tugged her wings close against her. "I don't believe I've met you about." [09:39:19] (no name) Morrigan let her wings lazily flick open and closed, while she gazed down at the startled woman. The sight energized her slightly, causing her to slowly lower down to be closer, "You haven't?" she'd question aloud, "That is quite the pity.." her words wrapped in warm honey, dripping from her lips. "Thankfully I have the opportunity to remedy that." Drawing a clawed hand to her chest, " I am Morri, a pleasure for you, I am certain." Extending her arms out, pointing to Meri, "What did I interrupt, I do hope it wasn't horribly important.." Of course she didn't honestly care, but every ounce of her body language would make it seem different. [09:45:24] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) shifted about, as the figure grew closer, Meri's gaze somewhat wary though polite as usual. Morri's reply bringing a soft chuckle to her breath as she shifted to her feet, her bow retrieved from the ground behind her and the last vestiges of the Magic fading away. Her head shaking as she'd offer "Nothing to worry over, just practicing a spell." Shrugging somewhat, her wings rustling softly as she offers in return "Meri." and chuckles lightly at the similarity in names. "You didn't disturb overmuch, I still have a bit til I can get it down I think."
Finally Harnessing 'the Beast' [2015/08/21 10:41] Merialeth Windstar made her way back inside after taking her usual morning flight, the dips and twirls in the air, lightening her spirits if only briefly, though that faded as she made her way back in the door and found it empty, again. Padi was out of sight, out of touch, and though she knew it was likely for the best, some task he'd told her had to work on, it still left her uneasy. She'd inhale deeply, cast a glance about and climb atop the bed, curling her wings about her, ready to concentrate. She -needed- to get this spell down, felt as if everything was hinged on that -one- thing, as stupid as it sounded. [2015/08/21 10:44] Merialeth Windstar put her hands out before her, looking carefully at her fingers, the delicate bones, typical Elven hands, but this time, it wasn't her Heritage she was trying to see, it was the impression in her mind that she tried to lay over those graceful fingers of heavy claws, sinew, and dark fur and the strength to rend skin from bones. Her body warming, the soft call of Magic growing as the notes of pure Song burst from her lips, instead her usual soft descant, it was more like a call to glory, fierce and strong, and the swirling glow of Magic coiled around her, coalescing around her hands and pooling over her skin as she felt the power of the Beast suffuse her. [2015/08/21 10:47] Merialeth Windstar felt her skin seem to toughen, those ethereal claws starting to form as her notes filled the air and her focus grew in intensity. She'd been fighting with herself for days, kept trying to practice only to be distracted, kept trying to get this one little part sealed and clear in her head. And now, now it seemed, she'd finally achieved it, the draw of Magic feeling like a curtain she'd drawn around herself, her hands glowing with that strange light as the impression built and strengthened and -finally-, that burst of Magic flooding her and flashing, into -completion-, as the spell took effect and she achieved what she'd been practicing for weeks. Her Song breaking off into a crow of delight, even the slight drain of her Mana didn't faze her the way it usually did... she'd -finished- it. Finally.

Trait Improvement - Reflexes (As of 07/19/15, cancelled 08/21/15) [2015/08/05 19:40:45] Padishar Ishtari steps into the house and stretches a bit, smiling to Meri. "Hey. Let's do this thing outside... I'll meet you there, but I need some of my armor. Long story, I'll tell you out front." he grins. Moving his way over to get his armor on.
[2015/08/05 19:42:52] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) tips her head, eyes flicking up to his as she smiles and nods "Alright...." the soft purr of laughter on her breath as she perused him with a lifted brow, then shrugged and turned to head outside. Not like she hadn't seen it all before... Her lips curving in amusement, though with a flicker of interest... Just -what- exactly did he have planned?
[2015/08/05 19:53:26] Padishar Ishtari heads his way outside as soon as he could. He paused as Jaxon wanders by but keeps onwards, pointing to Meri and then over towards the empty space in the trees, "We'll need space and no one in the cross fire, I think... My idea is pretty simple. You practice dodging, I practice throwing bolt spells in heavy armor. Because I -want- to be able to throw them in heavier armor... Make sense?" he grins at Meri a bit and wanders ahead.
[2015/08/05 20:00:56] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) lifted a brow, her other rising shortly after as she follows along behind him and blinks a bit at his 'idea' before bursting out into laughter... "Oh this ought to be... fun, indeed... I'm so not leaving my wings hidden for this..." Her fingers brushing over the feathers of her necklace and closing her eyes for a moment, the silvery expanse coming into view as her hand pulled away.
[2015/08/05 20:05:30] Padishar Ishtar grins a little, "So I'm going to cast lightning bolts... And you're going to dodge them. I'll make sure they aren't too strong... Don't actually want to hurt you." he smiles and starts the process of casting the spell, using a careful string of hand gestures and grinning at her, "Ready? You might need those wings. We'll start as soon as you're ready."
[2015/08/05 20:15:35] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) blinked, just blinked at the reveal. "Lightning bolts... you're going to throw lightning bolts at me! Yes I'd say wings would be a good idea!" She'd laugh but her gaze narrowed as well, the sword at her side unbuckled and she'd toss it to him "Then you get to hold this, because I don't want the weight, nor the risk of a bolt hitting -it-." She'd crouch a bit, arms splayed out to the sides and fingers curling and straightening as she murmured "Bring it on...."
[2015/08/05 20:21:08] Padishar Ishtari grins and catches the sword easily enough, letting the blade set down next to him as his other hand raises towards Meri. Releasing a lightning bolt towards her, it was fast as it's lightning, but it was dodge-able. He seems to be straining a little since the armor on him was sapping his magical strength. Poor Meri better move, though, he was aiming right for her. [2015/08/05 20:21:27] (no name): Padishar rolls R2 (CC:baca): 59, Zap!
[2015/08/05 20:23:01] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R4 (CC:bacb): 89, Dodge that Zap! [2015/08/05 20:23:59] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) squealed, her eyes flying wide, that crouch becoming a diving roll off to the side that watched as the bolt went harmlessly overhead though the sizzle sent a shiver through her and she'd hiss under her breath "Ha! Nice... try!"" Then darted to her feet, and wiggled her fingers again.
[2015/08/05 20:27:18] Padishar Ishtari grins and chuckles at her, tilting his body to the side and lining up another shot. His hands move forward and launch another bolt of lightning, a lil sweat and strain evident on his forehead. "This is harder than it looks..." he grumps, the bolt was on target if she didn't move, but he was already starting to show fatigue. [2015/08/05 20:27:39] (no name): Padishar rolls R2 (CC:bacc): 9, Zap 2!
[2015/08/05 20:36:00] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R4 (CC:bacd): 49, Not again, you sneaky bugger! [2015/08/05 20:37:42] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) wiggled a little in place, her nose wrinkled at him as she waited for the bolt to come at her before, she'd duck low this time, nearly flattening against the grass as she felt this bolt go a little farther overhead, the static teasing over her as she shivered once more, then bounded to her feet again and turned around, in far too cocky of a mood as she teased a "Neener neener... gotta try harder, Padishar..." wiggling wings at him as she danced off and spun about
[2015/08/05 20:39:48] Padishar Ishtari frowns a bit as yet another shot goes wide. He looks at his hand and keeps his strength up, firing once more at his wily summoner. His concentration looked almost painful at this point, after the third shot now, he actually broke a sweat, and she was still dodging like a pro. He smiles a little, "You ever tried this? Armor is a bitch on this plane.." [2015/08/05 20:40:13] (no name) Padishar rolls R2 (CC:bad5): 13, Zap?
[2015/08/05 20:40:45] (no name) Merialeth Windstar rolls R4 (CC:bad6): 136, dancing in the grass - and avoiding another zap! [2015/08/05 20:42:41] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) laughs merrily, her muscles stretching and her wings flashing wide as the next bolt goes harmlessly below her, launching upwards and spiraling out of the way before she'd hover and grin down at him. "Nope, but - there's a reason I don't do evocs... I like armor... but I like my mage shield better." Then tucked her wings in to let herself land with a soft oof and saucy grin.
[2015/08/05 20:45:44] Padishar Ishtari pulls his other hand together and fires again! Close enough to her, maybe this time he could actually hit her. He grunts with effort with the blast though, and he probably wasn't going to keep this up. This... is pretty much why he just hit things with swords if he wore armor, here. [2015/08/05 20:45:55] (no name) Padishar rolls R2 (CC:bad8): 43, Pls Zap.
[2015/08/05 20:46:26] (no name) Merialeth Windstar rolls R4 (CC:bad9): 4, Please no! No Fried Meri! [2015/08/05 20:49:04] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had gotten -too- cocky, the blast too quick for her to dodge. Her eyes flying wide as she gasped and her arms and wings flew out wide from the shock of the bolt, with a gasped "Shit!". Eyes rolling back and falling to the grass as the bolt sizzled through her and she'd shiver with the chasing of energy through her form before she'd fall silent and still, the shallow breathing the only visible sign... So not good, crispy Meri.
[2015/08/05 20:51:23] Padishar Ishtari winces and moves over to help her up, "Ow...?" he grins briefly and sighs, "I'm exhausted... Did I shoot too much energy into that?" he offers a hand to try and help her up. "I think I'm done. You want to go take a break?" he winces a bit and mutters. "I need to study some more of Imposed Demand. So I can cool down with scrolls, eh?"
[2015/08/05 20:58:24] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) blinked a few times, her quick inhale and glance upwards... her fingers rubbing against her chest as she swallows hard and takes his hand to lift shakily back to her feet. "That um... yea... good thing you were pulling punches with that one, hmm? I'd hate to see what full power was..."

Trait Improvement - Magic (As of 08/21/15, finished 9/26/15) 8/23/15: [21:58:40] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) of course, one of the benefits of having access to pretty much everything - well ok, everything in the Auguriis, meant you could pretty much pick out any of the books or scrolls at will, and settle down to read. Tonight was no exception, and as Meri wandered, her latest treasure in hand, she'd curl up at the little pond near her house, peer about her, and get some quality time in with 'How to Cure Diseases' by I. B. Handy. Her soft humming under her breath was almost instinctive now, the words on the pages springing out at her as she worked her way through, and the Magic testing, teasing at the content of the precious tome. Her frustration with being unable to cure Cedar right away from the infection that was growing under and in her skin was gnawing at her, and Meri'd scan the pages, then realize it, and force herself to stop and go back and re-read again. Knowing full well she wouldn't learn the spell in time, but - she had to try. If not for Cedar, then Goddess forbid, the next poor soul who got [21:58:40] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): infected.
[22:10:27] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) furrowed her brows, squirming about slightly and settling in to as she remembered the conversation she'd had with Cypriana earlier that day. She'd brought the page home, read over it, then realized as much as she wanted to help out in the Infirmary, Meri just couldn't do it. Couldn't commit herself to never fighting for what she believed in, it both frustrated her to no end, and made her work all the harder to get to the root of this spell, adamant that she'd have to just do what she could, on her own, and apologize to Cypriana for asking about something she really never should have. The lessons though, that she could and would still do, she had to. Meri didn't know of any other Predicants, at least none she was aware of, and that too bothered her, knowing there had to be more out there like herself. She'd realize she was re-reading the same page again and hadn't a clue what it said, nearly digging a hole in the page with her gaze before sighing and shaking her head, and starting again at the top, [22:10:27] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): reading again. Slower this time. It was too important to mess up.
[22:36:24] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) was drawn in to the point that she hadn't even realized the flow of Magic around her, the softly lilting hum on her breath as she tried to absorb the contents of the book. Her fists rubbing at her eyes, the dash of her gaze up and about her as she sighed softly and dove back into the pages, biting down on her tongue to get through just a few more before she'd finally give in to Reverie.
8/24/15: [22:52:01] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) settled again at the little pool, the birds and night sounds of the Forest peaceful, curling in and letting her wings surround her as she reopened her book and started to read once more. She'd barely had any time to herself today, but she'd hope that maybe this might be her chance to get some more study time in, the softly lilting hum in the back of her throat that always seemed to help her focus playing softly over the breeze. This was so much different than most of her spells, as Cedar had found, difficult to alleviate what you didn't have to work with at the same time, and her sense of frustration couldn't help but color her underlying need.
[23:07:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) was almost tempted to just throw the book across the pool, cast it aside, and in nearly the same breath berated herself for the bare imagining. Theory was all well and good, but for once Meri was frustrated that the knowledge - what she could -see- wasn't enough. How did you practice? How did you absorb without -substance-? She'd close the book, holding it to herself, and repeating the few words she'd been able to find on her focus. SO much knowledge about everything else... and though that one part of her mind drank it in, memorized and secreted the knowledge away, it just... wasn't enough. Not yet. Her soft hum grew angry and broke off, the quiet entreaty to Her for guidance... A deep breath drawn in, the blanket of warmth caressing her skin and the flutter of her wings about her as a gust of the breeze teased at her hair and made Meri dash a look upwards to find... nothing but the stars. It brought a smile to her lips though and she'd nod, noticing the shifted pattern of their travelling, [23:07:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): then dropped her gaze again, reopened her book, and went back to reading. She'd have to go talk to Cypriana soon, try to get her perspective, see what she was missing, hopefully.
[2015/08/31 11:40] Cailean: "It's a good thing you've no say in the matter then," Cailean said with wry snort. "Or else everyone'd have a bit of gold and it wouldn't have value worth shit and the world'd be gilt in gaudiness." His grin spread somewhat, at least until she asked him to tell her what he knew about swords -- which was a great deal, or very little, depending on who you asked. He gave her an exasperated sigh, the sort one gave to small children, and then motioned to the weapon at his hip. "Well, you hold it here," he said, tapping the hilt. "And you plant the pointy end in the other bastard. If you're good, you manage to do it before he does it to you. It's the same as your dagger, aye? Just a bit bigger. For grown ups, really." [2015/08/31 11:44] Little Tree had maintained the reading that she did but she looked up then, to cast Cailean a rather impishly arched brow. "Och, ye dint say," she murmured, one side of her mouth rising as she shook her head. "An' supposen ye think as I shuid mebbe grow up, first aye?" Another snort and Cedar returned her gaze to the scroll, letting it lay upon her lap as she brought her hands together. The shadow of a focused look flitted along her brow and as she slowly pulled hands apart, magic flowed between, small and bright. [2015/08/31 11:45] Little Tree adds a (1/2) [2015/08/31 11:51] Cailean: "Couple more inches might keep you from cutting off your own toes, aye," Cailean said brightly, maintaining a look of amusement for her troubles. "Though I'd be gladder to see you do that elsewhere; maybe a deep cave, somewhere. I've seen what happens when a mage doesn't know what they're about and it usually means poorly for all that're 'round them." He pantomimed a small explosion with his hands and added to the charade a mouthing of a boom. In this case, he just imagined a bunch of mageblades popping up and skewering everyone in sight. Gods, please don't let her mess up here. [2015/08/31 11:52] Merialeth Windstar had wandered her way out of the shop. It was cozy but too closed in, and though she'd stayed up nearly all night studying, still hadn't found herself any closer to trying to cast this spell. Practice and theory was getting her... nowhere. So, though the sky was clear and it was beautiful for flying, she just... couldn't, her head too clouded even if the skies weren't. She'd pad her way around the island on foot then... meandering, and staring towards the library, but it was the familiar voices that drew her to the tavern instead, stopping just inside of the arch and casting each a soft smile in greeting. The topic seeming to be at hand brought a faint grin to her lips and she couldn't help but nod watching Cedar working on her own spell. [2015/08/31 11:57] Little Tree: But Cedar, you see, was not casting Mageblade, not even in practice, though magic could be deceptively ambiguous like so. No, she had a different spell in mind, as her impish look cast Cailean's way should have foretold. And after another moment or two, the magic between her hands formed, not a blade but what looked like a set of gloves. They slipped upon her fingers and moved up to her wrist. And when done the look of it seemed to fade from sight, though the power of the spell was very much there. Cailean spoke and the spell complete, Cedar lifted her gaze to watch him pantomime a disaster that could take hold. So she smiled, so sweetly it was obvious the fae was up to no good, and with a reach of her hand, she took hold of his sword. "Guid day t'ye, Meri," Cedar lilted to the elf just as the barmaid walked round the counter with Cailean's drink. The hilt of Cailean's sword in her spell's hold, Cedar lifted her hand so that it began to slide from the sheathe. "I jus' grab this end, aye?" [2015/08/31 11:58] Little Tree adds (2/2 Far Fingers bitch)) [2015/08/31 11:59] /me Cedar rolls R6 (CC:be42): 118, does she get it out the sheathe?? [2015/08/31 12:00] /me Cailean rolls R6 (CC:be43): 55, no you thieving little shrew [2015/08/31 12:00] Little Tree: :p )) [2015/08/31 12:08] Cailean: Aye, well, Cailean would've suggested to Meri that she beat her head against a wall for a bit, or that she simply kept at it. Sometimes pulverizing the noggin made for some surprising epiphanies but on the other hand, the elf's brain matter was likely too delicate for such brute force tactics to work. So it'd be more practice until she figured out what she did wrong. T'would be easier if she'd a teacher, but these mage types seemed to be of the same mind equally around -- they were up to the task of learning alone, always. Cailean was certain he'd have been skewered a dozen times by now if it wasn't for the flat part of his Swordmaster's blade and the number of times he'd beem smacked by it. "'lo, Meri," he called, friendly like, at least until he saw Cedar finish her casting and begin to put on.. a glove? That was no swor--.. but then she was taking his sword! "Oi!" He'd failed to grasp his blade before she'd drawn it from his belt. "Ha, funny. Aye, you grab that end, then you plant the other end into the [2015/08/31 12:08] Cailean: cuss that you're wanting dead. Simple, aye?" He'd not say it, but Cedar having control over one of his weapons made him somewhat nervous. Somewhat very nervous. [2015/08/31 12:13] Merialeth Windstar grinned a bit as she watched the spell take hold, her eyes darting between them both and as Cedar spoke and she caught the movement, Meri'd purr out soft laughter, and flick her gaze between the pair, the cheery "Good day to you both..." and leaned half against the side of the archway, that soft rustle about her again as she shifted a bit to get more comfortable and settled in to watch the show. The sight of the blade escaping it's owner's grip and Cailean's indignant exclamation made her grin a bit, she couldn't help it. Even the frustration she'd felt faded in face of the good-natured teasing between the two, though she'd actually already intended on picking Cypriana's brain, just.. hadn't gotten there yet. "Nicely done, Cedar..." She'd murmur warmly, waiting til the barmaid was finished with her current task to motion for her usual mug of water, her eyes flicking still between the pair and trying to keep her usual serene face instead of laughing hysterically at his expression. Elves and all. [2015/08/31 12:18] Little Tree grinned wide for Cailean's surprise and waved the sword around the slightest bit in menace. Truly it was only slight for Cedar had no real desire to hurt the man, and after another moment or two, she began to laugh, her hand moving before her as the sword shifted in the air, bringing him the hilt to grasp. "Lucky fer ye, yer no' tha cuss I'm wantin' ta skewer, aye?" she said with a wink. The barmaid, quite taken aback by this apparent display of magick, just stood there, hovering as she blinked owlishly between the two. And, after a moment's indecision, she set Cailean's drink on the table nearby, scooting her way over to the elf where it seemed both safer and a new order might be had. "Will ye answer me in seriousness now though? Do think yon blade is different than me knife fer skinnin', an' I dint mean jus' tha size ..." [2015/08/31 12:19] Shayra the Snake marches into the tavern, hours later than the previous event. She had fought, even if driving the enemy off with just one blow - such an axe is a heavy argument in talks of weapons. She is content. Afterwards she had been in the tent in the wayward, to do what the white queen had told needed for her goal. She is rather really satisfied. Now she goes into the tavern, not minding that she might eventually hit Meri at the shoulder with her own, perhaps even pushing her aside by that unless evaded. "Grog!" She bellows, far louder than needed, loud enough to be heard all over village square, to the bar girl who is somewhere in the tavern to deliver water. Doesn't take long then until she gets - two - cans. She drinks the first entirely at once, against the thirst, as usual, and lays the heavy axe onto the bar counter. [2015/08/31 12:24] /me Lori fluttered up the path in this to her unknown land. She looked around nervously and jumped at the sudden call for "Grog!" she landed on the ground and carefully made her way towards the voices, making sure no one would notice her yet as she wasn't sure if there were monsters and who knows what in there [2015/08/31 12:30] Cailean: "Aye, good day," Cailean echoed Meri, nodding while he seasoned and salted her words with a bit of tartness to make them more his own. He'd have looked to her, but his eyes were tracking the path of his floating, magicked sword, ducking when it came too near to his nose for his own comfort. Not that it'd come /near/ of course, but it was near enough that for him, it was a discomfort. "Don't encourage her!" He growled, shooting a glance at Meri that was one part scowl, one part amusement, and the rest a desire to keep from losing his nose. When at last his blade was returned to him, he took it and slid it back into its sheath. He reminded himself to prank the elf later, since her hoity-toity expression of restrained laughter hadn't been lost on him. "Aye, maybe. I'm no smith, but I know the gist of it; a thing of metal's either cast or forged. If it's cast, it's basically that the metals melted and poured into the shape you want it in, then ground down until it suits the purpose for eye and hand. If it's [2015/08/31 12:30] Cailean: forged, then the metal's heated and then pounded into like shape. Forging's meant to be better, stronger, but casting's quicker and easier for things that you don't necessarily need the strength for. Coins are cast, armor's typically forged, weapons -- can be either way, but you'd rather have them forged if you've the coin for it. Maybe the magic for it's the same?" He'd been about to think on it, though he was no mage, when there came a booming call for grog in the way that stabbed at him with nostalgia. Grog -- how he loathed and missed the swill. And--.. oh, tits. Call him swine for looking, but a moment later he was more interested in that axe. A fine weapon for a barbarian to be lugging about. He wondered if there was a story behind it. [2015/08/31 12:37] Merialeth Windstar hadn't even caught sight of the woman before she was nearly barreled into, though there wasn't much area to move in, leaning against the arch pillar, but Shayra's voice warned her right before the brush was felt, though Shayra might feel a curious sensation over her arm and hand instead of the soft flesh that she'd expected. Meri'd squeak and scoot out of the way the only direction she could, straight towards Cailean and the sword, moving just far enough to be clear of Shayra before straightening again with that soft rustling sounding all about her. The glance cast back at the woman with a furrow of her brow, though otherwise Meri'd let it go and offer a bashful smile towards Cedar and Cailean both. She'd catch Cailean's expression, that hint of amusement returning belatedly, though much faded, shooing off the barmaid to attend to Shayra. Water would wait, Meri wasn't in a rush, but she knew how insistent the other woman would be, and well - Meri didn't mind overmuch. [2015/08/31 12:39] Shayra the Snake grabs for the second can of mug, drinking it by the liter. This one is for enjoying though already. Only the first is for refreshing. She does not much bother what's going on around her as long as she has room at the bar and a drink. So the fae and also the gaze by the man is lost on her yet. The drink counts - and that somehow seems to smell different than else. The gaze - normally she would go totally topless, as that is habit amongst the men of her tribe, and she had always identified with them more than with the other women. That changes now though. For now she wears only that chain net bra top with the big and heavy iron links, protecting but not blocking sight. The grog smells different! She looks about, wondering, then sniffs on her arm where she had hit the other woman earlier. She looks at the woman. Somehow she had felt not like she looks. "Strange beasts!" She grunts, "gnat girls, goat girls, Shayra only normal woman!" and turns back to her drink. She is absolutely not used much to other races [2015/08/31 12:39] Shayra the Snake: as it seems. [2015/08/31 12:39] Little Tree: For all that Cedar was having her fun, the sudden cry for Grog startled the Fae. So much so that she lost her grip upon Cailean's sword as it hovered before him in the air. Good thing then that he'd taken it by the hilt as soon as she'd turned it his way, for the magic around her hands dissipated and the spell faded away. Her attention, much like the others, shifted to the barbaric woman who'd commanded the such, and while she said nothing, she noted the way the barmaid hopped to from Meri's side to fetch the two orders of Grog before seeing to the elf. Cedar pursed her lips, the face she made a dissatisfied one, and then looked askance at the axe placed upon the counter. How could a counter be kept in good shape with weapons using it to be held by? How would it stay shiny and ne-- wait. Upon further glance, Cedar realised the counter was awfully beat up and likely had seen much of similar abuse. And if she thought about it, it was likely retched upon and slept upon in equal measure -- so Cedar wrote [2015/08/31 12:39] Little Tree: off the counter as a necessary evil to be tolerated. Looking back towards Cailean, Cedar grinned again, happy in her own way she'd perturbed and amused him with her trick. What with one thing and another, the tiny fae that lingered just outdoors was unnoticed of yet by Cedar, and since Cailean seemed now inclined to speak with her in regards to blades, Cedar lowered her eyes again to the scroll. "Castin' mebbe," she murmured. "If can cast wi' smithin' than cast wi' magicks mun be easier forbye." [2015/08/31 12:44] /me Lori sneaked closer to the tavern, lifting her little nose in the air and wrinkled it while she sniffed the air. She shook her head thoughtfully.. didn't smell monster but certainly not honey either. Then a grin grew on her face and she whispered "Rum! This might be a place for rum!" she decides to just sit down and while making certain this is a no-monster-rum-place before making her go for the wanted drink. Unfortunately all the excitement of being in a strange and unknown land was getting to her and before she knew it she fell asleep right there on the ground in a little fairy heap [2015/08/31 12:50] Cailean: It'd only have been Meri's fault for standing in the doorway so! And if her secrets were spilled for it, then that'd have been her fault too, aye? It didn't stop him, however, from giving the elf a second glance if for no other reason than to ensure that she was unharmed. Satisfied that she was, he looked back toward Cedar. "It'd make for cheap magic, I'd think," he cautioned her, as if he were the soul of wisdom when it came to magics and the like. Forged was better, always, so if she were to be choosing between setting her magic to cast or forging it into somewhat better, let it be the forging! And then, finally, the barbarian spoke more than a single word and his gaze drew back to her. "While I'm not sure about gnat girls and goat girls, not even the gods'll fault a man for enjoying a bit of variety to his eye candy, aye?" This would probably earn a rebuke from Cedar, but he was just talking about looking! [2015/08/31 12:53] Merialeth Windstar had settled to silence again, her arms curled about her waist and the faint wince in her expression. Her eyes dashing between the three others within, staying close to the wall even moreso now, though it seemed Shayra was well ensconced at the bar. A slight shrug and smile cast at Cedar and as the barmaid made it back her way, she'd tug a few coins from her pouch, that rustle sounding again, somewhat lost in the noise of the tavern as she exchanged the coin for her water and murmured her thanks to the maid for it. She had been leaning against the pillar, though apparently not far enough, but all was well enough. Meri was breakable, but not -that- breakable... She'd offer a faint smile in return to Cailean's look and tug her free hand back about her waist as she pressed herself into the little corner she'd made between chairs and wall and herself, and just drink her water, and consider. [2015/08/31 13:01] Little Tree /did/ turn an acerbic look Cailean's way for his words. It was the sort of look that spoke of trouble yet gave the chance for him to mend what he'd said, and Cedar very much hoped he would. Still, she looked towards Meri, holding up a wall and tilted her head with a shrug. "D'ye think it much matters?" she asked the elf, "If forged or cast wi'in me mind? Wuid one be more durable an' sharp d'ye think than tha other? I'd no' wish fer it ta break an' grow dull." Frowning, Cedar rubbed the spot between her brows and sighed a bit as she rolled up the scroll. Clearly, she was getting little accomplished this time and practicing magick was better suited when there weren't so many around. "Ye mun eat, Meri," Cedar lilted then. "Tha sun's high enough in tha sky now as ta be bringin' round fer a meal. Here then - ye like?" It was the small platter of apples Cedar had ordered that she held aloft in Meri's direction; apples with honey dripped over them, yum. [2015/08/31 13:03] Shayra the Snake looks at the woman sitting aside her on the bar counter, one with pointy ears. Did that woman just talk about magic? She does not even know that the woman is casting while she thinks about it. "Shayra no need pointy ear, no for shoot bow." She grunts, not even expecting a reply as she already turns back to her grog. She sniffs on that more than that she drinks for a change, and Helga even asks her outright if she is sick. "Grog smell other!" She barks to that, and Helga sniffs and denies that, states it is the same Grog as always. She frowns and drinks, then furrows her brows. Definitely different for her taste, even though in real it is normal, not poisoned or anything, really the same grog. Had there be a sound outside? Likely only a dog rolling in, no second thought about that. Another swig - same strange smell and taste. "Forsaken Magic! Shayra hate!" She growls low into her grog can, as the man also talks about magic. And then, as he speaks more, she turns her head over her shoulder to glare at him [2015/08/31 13:03] Shayra the Snake: a moment. Only briefly. She had not understood what he had said, too long - more than five words before dot or comma she cannot compute. She is of the stupid kind of her kin, and the local brick walls pride themselves to be smarter than her. She drinks again. "Wine!" She snorts to the bar girl and just empties the rest of the grog can to the floor aside of herself. The grog does not taste her today. The barmaid serves, groans about having to clean again, and surely just hopes that this time the barbarian would not destroy the furniture as it had happened lately when two were present. Her hand caresses the broad of the axe blade lovingly even, absentmindedly. The elven woman she had rammed has meanwhile pretty much evaded her thoughts, not by intend, she just cannot focus on too many different important things outside of battle. She tries from the wine - also that smells different to her, much more fruity, sweet? But she has to taste it. The talks of the bar counter sitting woman she leaves else uncommented, [2015/08/31 13:03] Shayra the Snake: another too long sentence for her to understand, but directed at someone else, which likely saves her health this time... [2015/08/31 13:09] Cailean: Aye, well, elves were meant to be broke anyway! And if they'd a little more resilience to them, then they'd just be for better sport! Not that he'd ever say this to Meri's face, gods perserve her, or that he'd subscribed to the idea -- but he could only imagine her eyes would grow so wide of shock they'd merely roll out of their sockets and bounce away along on the floor. He looked back in time to catch the look Cedar gave him, and, well, perhaps she wasn't pleased that he'd be looking. T'was no different than appreciating a flower, or a fine painting! A nice rack or a plush arse, a bit of neck, shoulder and skin, that was all the artwork of the gods too, aye? Don't let Cedar see him sweat. He cleared his throat, then lamented with all due theatrics, "the gods'll forgive us but the women might not." Perhaps it would lead him toward the wrong ending, with him being the cuss that Cedar put her sword through, but he couldn't help but offer her a rascal's grin. "Couldn't say though, forging or cast. If I had [2015/08/31 13:09] Cailean: any sense for magic, I'd--.. well, I'd probably not be here." Dead, from provoking the wrong person with the wrong sort of pranks, likely. He looked back to Shayra, raging--.. well. She seemed to be raging about something! Magic? Well, magic was the topic for the night, then! "Not all magic bad," he said very slowly. "But steel better." Then a grunt. Was he speaking her language?! Or making fun of her? Maybe both? [2015/08/31 13:13] Ella heads to the tavern, lunch was up next. With a polite glance and a nod at whomever was present, she walks up to one of the tables and settles down, facing the door, as was always wise. She does recognize the barbarian female and the healer?, only maintaining a politely observant look throughout and she calls out to Helga, raising her hand to grab her attention "Oi! Can I get some bread and beef stew?", and she then idly drums her fingers on the table, relaxing a bit while making note of the pair of new faces and their discussion on ... magic? Interesting. Though she does not add to the discussion at the moment, it could be seen that she was indeed listening with keen politeness. [2015/08/31 13:13] Merialeth Windstar considered Cedar's question, the flash of her gaze upwards as she was spoken to. Her own brows furrowing a bit in serious consideration of the question "I'd think...personally - that the tenor of the weapon in question like anything else, depends on it's maker. Those with more skill, or acuity, would be more likely for forging a sharper edge, though whether it be steel or Magic, both can be as keen, and cut as readily." The mention of food and her eyes drifted towards the platter that Cedar showed, a slight curve of her lips and glance from it to Cedar, then over to Cailean and Shayra before back to the platter. "Kind of you to offer..." then trails off, taking another sip, though its clear, Meri has no intention of moving anywhere closer at the moment, to anyone. Spooked Meri is spooked. Silly caster. She couldn't wait to be less breakable. Really. The ... phrasing of Cailean's comment back to Shayra, and the imminent heating up of Cedar and Cailean's looks back and forth just made Meri quirk the corners of her lips slightly, another drink taken, and the soft lilting Song on her breath as she [2015/08/31 13:13] Merialeth Windstar dashed a look back at Cedar and that platter. Two could play at that game... (1/2) [2015/08/31 13:18] Little Tree: Perhaps amusingly, when the barbaric woman beside her declared how she despised magicks, Cedar merely snorted and agreed. "Aye. Feckin' magicks ain't worth their trouble, do say," she lilted, an absentminded thought made from long born habit. And yet, there she'd been, pouring over the scroll she'd only just put away, in hopes of learning yet another spell. If Helga was this NPCs name, Helga was soon about to find herself out of work, for Cedar wasn't too keen on that name and she'd yet more fickle and superficial reasons to hire a person or let them loose. As it was, Cedar did not quite yet think herself the establishment's owner, merely joked about the idea of making it hers. So when the grog was upended on the floor, Cedar cast it a disinterested look before cocking a brow to watch the barbaric woman take a sniff of her new drink. "Somat tha matter, lass?" she asked with idle curiosity before setting her plate to rest on her lap. Well, if Meri wasn't going to take up her offer, Cedar had no qualms [2015/08/31 13:18] Little Tree: about eating and picked one of the slices of honey-covered apple up to take a bite. She'd nodded of course, when Meri gave the answer she did, for it suited her best to think it was true. Cedar had no small estimation of her own skill within magic, and so naturally if it was only a question of skill and not how the blade would be formed, Cedar held confidence hers would form well. "Aye then," she murmured, green eyes trailing to the newest arrival just as the woman called for food and drink. The barmaid got busy, hopping too and turning to the pot over the fire, beginning to ladle a bowl's worth of stew, while Cedar twitched an ear for the strains of Meri's song barely heard. [2015/08/31 13:21] Shayra the Snake sets the big tin chalice of wine to her lips and begins already to drink greedily as the man behind her addresses her. Her eyes grow big, though not only because of the words. She turns, grabs the axe with her right fist. "All magic evil!" She roars out at him, "Only trust steel!" And with that she spins around and thrusts the tin mug with the wine against the wall behind the bar, with all her arms offer. "Wine bad! Give better next! Shayra paid good!" She yells outright at the woman behind the bar. Her body begins to shake, once, then to rock, a hard rocking going through her, and she vomits outright onto the bar counter - only the wine and grog had been in her belly aside of what is normally in an empty belly as can clearly be seen. She turns, sways a bit, wipes her lips with her iron and fur bracer. "Better... wine... next time!" She growls low, this has infuriated her, and a lot so! Not even having seen that Ella had sat down at the table, she lifts the axe high over her head and smashes it down onto [2015/08/31 13:21] Shayra the Snake: said table, splitting it effectively in two, with all that was it flying through the room. She steps closer to the man, points the spike of the axe tip towards him, not close surely, not threatingly. "See? Only trust steel!" she growls, stinking from vomit from her snout, and turns half to point a finger at Cedar. "Even she say! You no smart man, woman there smart! She know magic evil!" She nods to Cedar, then would begin to walk out of the tavern. She is angered and furious about the bad grog, the bad wine - in real she does not know why she was belly sick from either. But going now means to not destroy the rest of the furniture. [2015/08/31 13:25] The Den Mother proceeded dramatically out from the Inn, extending her arms with a slight flick of the wrist.. Birds tweet tweet tweeted about, a few small ones flitting past the woman on their way to their nest...In the skull that was pinned under her window. A broad smile shone on the womans face. It was like some kind of chipper scene from a disney movie...Except macabre as hell..."Aaaaaah, isn't it a /maaaaaaaaaahvelous/ day?" the woman asked, to nobody in particular, before proceeding into the Tavern. Before even really surveying what was going on, she'd greet everyone in a uplifting tone..."Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour Bonjour Bonjou-ah, daaaaaahlings~!" she'd coo, before actually noticing that a table had been split in half. Why was this place always such a mess? Filthy peasants! [2015/08/31 13:33] Cailean: Bread and beef stew did sound tasty and maybe Cailean was a smidge more easily suggestible when it came to food than he should've been; already he was wondering if he should order one plate or two -- or three, two for him and one for Cedar, who undoubtedly would've taken it poorly if he didn't. On the bright side, she didn't seem to care that he'd told her that he'd continue to be appreciating all the lovely ladies that were around him! Of course he'd do this in the most subtle way he might; it wouldn't do well for him to have eyes lingering of skin and flesh that didn't belong to the lady that kept his bed, especially when said lady was present! Maybe he was just keeping watch? Aye. Nothing like practicing his periphera--.. oh. That wasn't pleasant. Not that the establishment hadn't seen its fair share of puke but--.. oh, and there was that axe he was appreciating so much! He--.. well. /Well/. On the brightest side, and the perk of the night, was that this'd be the second time he wouldn't have to worry [2015/08/31 13:33] Cailean: about playing the Guard, and he could just appreciate the chips of wood that flew. "Never said I was smart," he replied cheekily as the woman headed on off. A nod was offered to Denny as she arrived, but otherwise, he reveled in the fact that he could just stand there and do nothing. Men /loved/ doing nothing. [2015/08/31 13:34] Ella watches as the food is ladled into a bowl and perhaps brought to her. Her face turned to poor Helga who had no idea she was about to be fired, eagerly waiting for her food order, while keeping a ear on the ongoing conversation, Ella shrugs and clears her throat to throw her two coppers in and says "Well magic is definitely useful... If... applied right.. yanno.. Depends on wha..", she stops her sentence half-way as Shayra, graces the counter with... vomit. Ella blinks, shaking her head softly and turns to a side to straighten her back and taps her fingers more impatiently, boy she just needed to eat and then get out like a bat outta hell. But... Shayra does more. In her own sweet way, the barbaric woman slashes her axe through the air, and Ella as always alert, calls out "Hey!What???", ready to arm herself and stuff, as she jumps up from her seat only to be startled by a loud crash as the table met his last and lay broken in two. "Woah!", she exclaims, dusting away the splinters and such before swiftly [2015/08/31 13:34] Ella: stomping out the flames from the candles that had been previously on the table. Flabbergasted, Ella makes a -what the fuck- gesture and smacks a palm onto her forehead before walking away from that mess, and she calls out to Helga "Uh... I don't think I'll need that stew... lost my appetite.. Thank you!", with a short wave of dismissal at the barmaid, she heads to the far corner of the tavern, sheesh. [2015/08/31 13:37] Merialeth Windstar kept up the quiet Song, her gaze flicking between the others in turn though as the music seemed to hit a crescendo, she'd cast a beatific smile from the rush that suffused her and reached with her fingers to grip ... open air, though one of the apple slices rose off the platter and started to dance through the air back towards Meri. Well, until Shayra started spouting off again and yelling and bashing on things. Her brows furrowed, and she fought a moment to maintain herself, but -eh - it was just an apple, and she'd let it fall back to the platter, throwing an exasperated look over at Shayra's outbursts. First nearly running Meri over, then ... just being loud and uncouth, now throwing up all over and trying to break things? Oi. What a day, and it wasn't even half over. She'd bury her nose into her own mug - of water, thankyouverymuch - and take a sip to clear her palate and inhaled deeply to clear her nose of the acidic scent cloying the air, then dashed a look over at the newest arrivals with a polite dip of her head and smile to them both. Yep, this would be why Meri stayed in her lil corner. An [2015/08/31 13:37] Merialeth Windstar Angry people with axes. Yep. An understanding glance cast over at the blonde as she makes her way back with a slight shrug of shoulders and tilt of her head. (2/2 Far Fingers... and fizzled short. Darn.) [2015/08/31 13:40] Little Tree: Well this escalated quickly. The barbaric woman was shouts and throwing of mugs and Cedar nearly jumped in her skin. As a matter of reflex, when the axe was hefted and pointed about, Cedar threw up her arm, the feel of magic lighting the air to any sensitive to such about as the look of her shield formed into place, the barest of glimmer catching the light here and there as the shield settled to surround the fae. Her normally narrowed eyes had gone wide as well, watching as the sudden outpouring of vomit and, well, Cedar was thankful she'd cast her shield so that she hadn't got splattered. That was when the small fae slipped down from the counter on which she stood - and not too soon, from her estimation since the axe came crashing down to split the table nearby. She stood there with her platter of honey-drenched apples in hand, eyeing how the Barbaric woman gave what for. But then, apparently feeling it safer near the very person who'd seemed to cause Shayra to shout and go off, Cedar rushed herself [2015/08/31 13:40] Little Tree: to wear Cailean stood. He had a sword at least, where Cedar had none, and men liked to protect their women, did they not? So the fae took a place just off to his side and behind, the better that he might defend her if the woman went more insane. It seemed fortuitous then, that the woman intended to leave, and fortuitous for Helga that the blonde rescinded her order, for now the barmaid had quite the mess to see cleaned up and with a sigh she eyed the hoighty toighty woman who'd entered and ignored her, opting to clean up vomit first. For Cedar's part, she just blinked in an owlish way at the strange voice that spoke, blinking again with a look over her shoulder to the woman it belonged to. Then cocked a brow as Cailean nodded the woman's way, digging her elbow into him with a not-very-quiet, "Who's tha'?" [2015/08/31 13:44] Shayra the Snake is angered, furious, and well, confused. She had not vomited since... she cannot even remember. And from alcohol, now that was long ago, she had begun to drink with the men of her tribe likely as soon as she could hold a mug of one liter. The men loved to let kids drink, and fight. The woman there, who had been at the table was not wounded, and neither angered - else this could have grown into a full blown brawl. No weapons to be used to draw blood in drink houses and feasting halls, lessing learned long ago but after only a LOT of teaching. Her outburst had seemingly caused a lot of people moving, yet no one attacking - all fearing her as she takes it. She stops just briefly, nods her chin to the man who neither does anything. "You learn magic evil, you drink better than wine, grog. Yes! Shayra be back, soon, then better wine!" She tells that to him, and to the next to him standing Cedar and Den Mother, just because they stand close. "Shayra white queen now!" She roars finally and would attempt to press [2015/08/31 13:44] Shayra the Snake: herself through the two women that stand in that opening, Cedar and the Den Mother, just to get out and towards Valkyrie's house.... unless blocked or else held... [2015/08/31 13:49] The Den Mother quickly pulled to the side when Shayra moved between her and Cedar. The woman didn't look like she'd be overly clean, and Denny really didn't want her gown covered in filth. Like every gown she ever wore, it was brand new. Would be a shame to get it dirty, especially when it'd never get worn again. After she moved aside, she'd look blankly at Cailean for a moment before rather abruptly asking..."What the devil was that, de-ah?". Clearly the woman still thought it was Caileans job to handle this kinda shit. [2015/08/31 13:51] Cailean: Maybe it was just that Cailean was a man, but the smell of vomit didn't sour his appetite. "I'll take it then," he told soon-to-be-fired Helga, motioning for her to continue to fill his bowl -- and then continuing to gesture once the bowl was 'filled' to bring it to 'full'. He was never one to mince priorities, and filling his stomach was more than a high priority, it was the highest! Poor Helga'd likely be the one to clean the nasty-jam, too, then get fired? Maybe if Cedar had some mercy to her, she'd just have the woman change her name? A rack like that wasn't one that a person came by every day, and certainly it'd earn the tavern some coin for the showing of it! And of course Cedar would go to him for protection! It was only natural, with Cailean being so strong and brawny and good with his sword and what not! At least until she elbowed him and asked who Denny was. "A very wealthy person; Regent of Lower Aberwyth, Lady Elizabeth." He was struck with a horrid fascination with the idea of Cedar trying to [2015/08/31 13:51] Cailean: pronounce Elizabeth. He couldn't even fathom how it'd come out or how butchered it'd be. "Lady Elizabeth Mont D'or." He clarified. Also, it should be noted that he spoke of Denny being rich first and foremost! Since it was likely the most important thing to both Cedar and Denny. Shayra was heading off and, well, Cailean was quite glad that she was doing it on her own two feet. Was he scared? Aye, he didn't want to get puked on! Though she did cut a ferocious scowl. "That was a pair of tits wrapped in chainmail," he replied to Denny. "In other words, I've no fucking idea." He grinned, then spread his hands helplessly. "All I know is that it's not something I've got to worry about anymore." That grin widened and he almost giggled. Almost. Damn, he was giddy about being sacked! Freedom! [2015/08/31 13:57] Ella leans against the doorway, thinking idly as to where the hell was Gerald while she watched Helga go about cleaning up things. As she moved closer to the healer elf in red, she caught the end traces of a song? Ella blinks, and then turns to catch sight of the female in the -huge- gown and finery. Damn, the last time Ella had worn a gown was maybe... uh.. not even at her wedding. You did get all kinds in the Ugly Duckling.. it would seem. Golden eyes note the smallish archer jump off from the counter and run to the side of the armored male.. who.. was apparently doing nothing.. and she does hear his very succinct explanation of the situation. Ella smirks at that, and then pokes her head out of the Tavern doorway making sure that she -saw- Shayra walk away before she would move next. [2015/08/31 14:00] Merialeth Windstar watched as the others shifted about, Denny scooting out of the way and Meri backing up as well, cause, there wasn't much else to do, space-wise, dragging a chair with her to make it easier for Denny to get out of the way of Shayra's shouting. Her brows furrowed once more and the faint grin on her lips as she saw Cedar had saved the apples as well as the way the question had been phrased about Denny's presence. Her own first encounter brought to mind as well, though as Cailean responded and Meri caught that motion and grin on his face she couldn't help but wonder what had the Captain so delighted, but smiles were good and happiness even better and the tension lessening was best of all. A deep breath brought in and exhaled in a sigh, then did a doubletake. Didn't have to worry anymore? Huh? "What do you mean, Captain? Don't have to worry...?" Her brows furrowed as she snaps a look back at him, though by all rights she can't -blame- him for staying out of the way. [2015/08/31 14:03] Little Tree: An issue of fear, wariness, or prudence, Cedar could care less how she came across in the way she merely stood by Cailean. Only that she didn't get harmed and she could eat her food. Not that ... it seemed Cedar would get to do that just yet. The barbaric woman headed straight for her and the red-clad woman and Cedar scowled, quickly moving back. She'd be damned if she got run into and her apples upended, so was she moved, she just kept going, taking herself around the pillar to come up on Cailean's other side. And Cedar was never going to try to say that remarkable name. Not a chance. Instead, she just fixed upon the knowledge the woman was rich. "Weel an' it be pleasin' ta make yer 'quaintence, me leddy," Cedar lilted sweetly to the woman as though they'd just been introduced. They hadn't. "If'n there be anythin' a'tall ye need, do jus' let me know it. There's little an' less as I kint acquire." She gave Elizabeth a grin, but when Meri spoke, Cedar tilted her body to look round the woman and [2015/08/31 14:03] Little Tree: Meri's way, taking it upon herself to answer for Cailean. "He's no' tha Captain anymore," she said, quite simply, then took another bite of honied apple. Bliss. [2015/08/31 14:05] Shayra the Snake sees the woman in the strange dress move aside. Of course she would, she is a warrior of her tribe herself in the end. One moves aside for that very reason. And why are these civilized people always dressed this unpractical. Thoughts, oh that thoughts! But the white queen had gifted her such a dress as well, she had just not yet found out how to get into that, had crawled around in the skirt part and not found an exit until giving up on it. But for now it bothers her why her belly felt so sick and why the usually great grog and wine had smelled and tasted so strange. White Queen, she must talk to her... now! Right now! "Strange island..." she growls, intended to herself but loud enough for all to hear, "big ear girls, goat girls, gnat girls, dress girls! No fighter, fighter men scared fighting, strange island!" And with that, unstopped, she stomps over to the house of the woman she calls the white queen.... [2015/08/31 14:07] Sovelis Quinn ends his trek up into the territory of the Upper Village with heavy panting and breathing, drops of sweat falling from his brow. Moving over towards the small stone wall to lean against for a spot of rest. With some sort of commotion happening over in the tavern, SOvelis raises a brow and peeks over in that direction. "Oh bother... mayhaps I shouldn't have decided to go for a drink." He mutters lightly, before following a seemingly angered and heavily armed woman with his eye across the village center. [2015/08/31 14:10] The Den Mother laughed quite playfully at Caileans description of her. The laugh was followed by a little nod of her head, and then she spoke. "Yais, dahling, yais! But what is wealth, realleh, but a means for chadditeh?" she'd ask, forever pushing that altruistic facade of hers. Meri would recieve a pleasant little smile and a "Thank you dahling" from the woman for moving the chair, before Denny turned back to Cailean and Cedar..."I'll nevah undahstand why the savages don't simpleh stay whe-ah they belong. Whe-ah nobodeh has to inteddact with them" she remarked. Her words were followed by a shake of the head, but her smile would return to her face as Cedar so kindly welcomed her..."Oh, thank you, dahling, thank you. I shall indeed let you know...Although fahst I'd be hoddibleh impolite if I didn't ask you-ah name!" she chuckled. It wasn't likely that she'd ever remember it. But it was polite to ask. [2015/08/31 14:15] Cailean wasn't scared of fighting; he just didn't do it on principle unless he was getting paid for it. That, or if someone he cared for or called a friend needed him to, but he wasn't about to sell his life for nothing, picking up fights that didn't need to be his. And now that he /wasn't/ being paid, it only made more sense that his blades would stay neatly where they were. "Aye, I'm no longer associated with the Guard," he confirmed with a pleased nod, grinning at Meri. "No more worrying about wolves in the night, demons in the square or mer in the water. Not unless they come and bother me and mine, which I don't think they have good reason to." His grin broadened. "Also means no more paperwork." Which was even better. "Will have to find work sooner or later, but I was paid well enough for my service that I won't have to worry for a little, yet." That, and he'd embezzled the hell out of the Guard's fund the day that he'd been sacked. Enough for both he and Cedar to be comfortable for a long while! "As for [2015/08/31 14:15] Cailean: why, probably because civilization's alluring to them. After all, somehow the rest of us went from being like them to being like us." [2015/08/31 14:19] Ella hears the words exchanged, and once more looks at the man as they call him 'Captain', and then not. Interesting, the stuff that you learned while being silent was pretty worthy. She shrugs and watches Shayra leave and then would also leave herself. Barely sparing a glance at the others present. [2015/08/31 14:20] Merialeth Windstar blinked. Well that would explain it, her brows furrowing a moment, then dashing back to Cedar and Cailean in turn, then back to Cedar. "Ah." Not much else to say really, it was how she'd met him, but certainly not the be all-end all, and he obviously wasn't upst by the news, quite the contrary. Short, sweet, and staring at that platter of apples again, Meri's brows furrowed once more and that soft burst of Song teased between her lips again, watching the plate as she listens to Shayra clomping off. The melody not quite the same as last time, though she'd stay more focused, until Denny's thanks reached her ears. Almost startled out of it, she'd flick a surprised glance up and a bashful smile in return to the woman's back and right back at the plate of apples. After all Meri hadn't said no, just that it was kind for Cedar to offer... So Meri hadn't stopped trying to snatch one of the pieces. Cailean's fuller explanation made perfect sense, and Meri'd dip her head again in understanding but wouldn't give up that soft lilting Song that tickled at the ears of those who might hear it, yet again. (1/2) [2015/08/31 14:25] Little Tree: "Little Tree," she answered Elizabeth as she straightened her form, taking another bite of her apple and smiling for the taste. Truly, whether her name was remembered of not mattered little to Cedar, as long as the woman paid, and the more the better. A passing of her glance to the blonde as she left, Cedar was only happy the barbarian had gone too. And, turning, she watched as Helga finished cleaning up the spray of vomit matter along bartop and floor, and shook her head with a glance to the table that'd been destroyed. "Tha's a'mos' as bad as a dwarf, aye?" Cedar said, walking over to nose the shards of wood with a boot. She shrugged however, and stepped aside for the barmaid to get past, ushering the bucket of vomit and rags outside. [2015/08/31 14:30] The Den Mother smirked at the woman who had introduced herself, more interested in her comment regarding dwarves than the name she would almost certainly forget, "Even dwahves have bettah mannahs than that, dahling. In my expeddience, at least. Dwahves are veddeh well behaved...When they know they will get paid for it." she'd respond with amusement, before scoffing at Cailean. "Centuddehs of good breeding, dahling. /She/ will nevah be like us." or at least, not like Denny. Which was probably a good thing. For everyone. "Anyways, dahlings, I was jaaahst stopping in on my way to the docks. Business to handle and all that. I must be on my way now that the fun is ovah." she purred, turning back around and following all the others out..."Ta ta, dahlings! Ta ta for now!" [2015/08/31 14:33] Merialeth Windstar kept up that soft interlude, the music rising and falling, and as it hit it's peak this time, Meri was ready. The slice of apple lifting and swaying again through the air as it bounced along with the music and made its way past Cailean nomming away, swept around Denny's dress - Meri wouldn't -dare- piss off the woman over the dripping honey, so not worth it - but the apple slice finally made it's way to Meri's hand and she'd pluck it up out of the air with a contented sigh, then crunched down into it, finally replaying to Cedar "You're right, delicious...." then used her free hand to wave at Denny as she headed out, looking altogether like the cat that'd found it's favorite cream bowl. [2015/08/31 14:34] Merialeth Windstar: (2/2 Levitation) [2015/08/31 14:36] Merialeth Windstar: replying to*) [2015/08/31 14:38] Little Tree nodded to the rich-bish who was turning to leave but before Cedar could say a word an apple was lifted off her plate. Brows lifted in return and Cedar turned a glance Meri's way, the only other caster she was aware that was nearby just then. But the expression shifted into amused, with the faintest of grins to coincide, and Cedar looked back to Elizabeth, watching that richness wander off. Plans and thoughts swirled within Cedar's mind as she did. Plans and thoughts to find ways to make some of that woman's coin. But in the moment it was merely another bite of apple that came of Cedar and then turning, she walked to the bar to place the nearly empty plate atop. "Do think as I mun head off now," she said idly to Cailean and Meri. "I've a bit or twa wi'in tha woods as I've a mind ta see done this day." [2015/08/31 14:44] Merialeth Windstar nodded, watching Cedar's face, expressions carefully noted, and that look of contentment relaxing into relief as she hadn't said anything amiss, and just grinned back. All was well, Meri was content with that. A soft dip of her head and fingers licked off of honey as Meri'd swallow it back and reply a warm "Be safe please... I'll see you about." The apple slice heist complete, she'd just dash a glance over at the plate, then shake her head to herself, it really had been nice of Cedar to offer, but Meri wouldn't impose more. Not her place.
[2015/09/04 16:16] Merialeth Windstar glanced up as Emm arrived, a dip of her head and warmly-spoken "Vedui', Cousin, I'm glad to see you..." then dropped her eyes to the girl that was introduced, another warm dip of her head and murmured "Pleasure to meet you as well..." Her eyes flicking between the sisters with a bemused grin. It was nice to see family that took care of each other like that. The smile fading a little but still warm as she added to Emm "I'm sorry I'd missed you, had to get out of the shop for a bit... I hope all is well?" then shifted her gaze back to Bard as he spoke. That full smile met with her own, knowing full well how rare it was, and how grateful that she was gifted with it. His detached tones right after only serving to bring a twinle to her gaze at the quick manner in which he returned to his usual sense. It might have annoyed another, but Meri had learned him well enough at least to know there was no ill intent. The question posed though, and the realization of what he referred to was met with a fainter but still assured "It's fine, just old memories and old stories, none of which apply here. I just need [2015/09/04 16:16] Merialeth Windstar to remember that sometimes." She'd let her gaze shift back to Emm and add "Anything intriguing then, or just a lark to say hello?" [2015/09/04 16:25] Bardaer followed Emm's progress through the tavern with his gaze, wearing something of a befuddled expression regarding her query to the barmaid - still, he refrained from asking, and simply glanced back to Meri. For a few moments he was silent, and flat of expression while he considered how best to respond, but eventually he managed, "Old stories must originate from somewhere, yes? Even if the message does not hold true to all it includes, it is still wise to be cautious - which of course, I am sure you are." Nope, no sugar coating things for him. Still though, he'd been here for hours by this time, and despite the rain outside, he knew it was well past time he started work on those enchantments he mentioned. Gracefully, he rose to his feet and offered, "I must depart. It was a pleasure to speak with you again, Merialeth - I will likely find myself at the Shop once again, researching permanent methods to block out the sun by means of magic." Silent steps carried him over towards the tavern exit as he rem [2015/09/04 16:25] Bardaer: over his shoulder, "Xuat el Merialeth, Emm'esta." [2015/09/04 16:27] Emm'esta Thiadil watched Lexi race outside to play, calling after her, "Don't go far!" Then grinned broadly as the tavern maid assured her she still had her free tab for the rest of the year. "Quel, quel! That is very good news." She had another mouth to feed now! She turned at Bardaer's farewell and returned it in kind, "Xuat el, Bardaer." She didn't know if she had the accent right, but she tried to copy him. [2015/09/04 16:31] Merialeth Windstar nodded in full understanding to Bardaer, though had she explained it was stories of others of his homeland, well perhaps it might have made more sense. As it were, Meri'd just dash him a smile and add "Be safe please Bardaer, and if in the meantime you're not able to find what you need, there are always heavy curtains." It wouldn't be perfect of course, but it'd be a sight better than the alternative of nothing at all. And easier to pull back when Meri was in the shop. "I will see you soon, my friend." A rough effect of bowing in her chair, which was a feat in and of itself with trying to get around chair backs and wings, but she'd manage then turn her gaze to Emm after he'd left. "You seem to be settling in well yourself... " Glancing out towards where Lexi had run off then back to Emm, the free tab would be well needed indeed. [2015/09/04 16:33] Emm'esta Thiadil told the npc tavern maid, "A spring wine, please," and makes her way over to Meri's table, taking a seat. "While I have you here, could we discuss the tattoo?" She'd been thinking a lot about it. The tavern maid set her drink down and Emms nodded her thanks, picking up the goblet and sipping it. "Very good!" she said, licking her lips. She wasn't much of a drinker...well, not at all, really. But spring wine was a treat. [2015/09/04 16:40] Merialeth Windstar nodded "Of course, have you decided on what you'd like done and such yet then?" The mug still between her fingers was brought to her lips, the col water drank down for a moment, then the mug replaced back to the table as she continued spinning it lightly between her palms. "There's so many options, it makes it difficult to know what's best..." [2015/09/04 16:44] Emm'esta Thiadil nodded eagerly. "Uma, I believe a quicker way to summon my mage blade might be a wise thing, though I am not really sure where to put it. Some place very easy to reach, because I would have to touch it, wouldn't I? Or could I Sing to it? Or both!" She grinned and took another sip of the wine. [2015/09/04 16:49] Merialeth Windstar thought a moment then nodded, grinning "Indeed... in fact that's a lovely idea... that's one of the things I'd hoped to learn myself at some point.. though finding the time has been difficult. It would be touch-triggered yes... so somewhere that you would easily be able to reach it." Meri'd show the tattoo on her right hand in illustration "This one lets me breathe wherever I need to, without drowning or the like... works well for high mountain air, but also for ocean deeps..." Shrugging lightly and smiling "The placement is up to you of course, you could even put it in the palm of your hand if you wished..." Curling her fingers then into a fist as if to demonstrate "So that as you get ready to fight, it triggers, and the blade is born." [2015/09/04 16:52] Emm'esta Thiadil thought for a moment, looking at her palm. "A very good idea, and it would only be released when I called it. Would hate to be washing dishes and activate the mage blade!" She grinned and took another sip of the spring wine. "I think that would be a grand idea. Let's do that." Now, she just had to decide what the tattoo would actually look like, or would she? "Is the design of the tattoo part of the magic, or is it all in the ink?" [2015/09/04 17:00] Merialeth Windstar shook her head "It can be whatever you wish for the design itself. I chose something that would blend in, but - you will have to concentrate on it to trigger it, so it will be nigh impossible to 'accidently' create it." [2015/09/04 17:05] Emm'esta Thiadil took off her circlet and let the star tattooed there already be seen. "This is the star of my family, or so my atar told me--my atara's family. I think I will choose this to be replicated on my palm. I will enjoy looking at it." She replaced the circlet, and took another sip of her wine. It was almost gone, and she thought about having another, but did not do it. One free drink was enough. [2015/09/04 17:07] Merialeth Windstar peered first at the circlet, having thought there might be some pattern there she wanted recreated, but when she spoke of the star, Meri'd flick her eyes upwards then nod and smile softly. "I think that would be a lovely choice... something that meaning for you - becoming a purpose in more ways than one." [2015/09/04 17:13] Emm'esta Thiadil was well-pleased, now that the decision was made. "And the ink? I am excited to see how this is done. It will be a much-needed lesson." [17:21:19] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) continued on "As far as the ink, I'll show you how to do it this time, then you'll be able to do it yourself.. though you likely could yourself, you've started enchanting, yes? It's just a matter of finding the right reagents needed, and getting those together, then imbuing the spell's Magic into the ink as you combine it all..." [17:26:17] Emm'esta Thiadil (Emmaline Mynx) rubbed her hands together. This was getting better and better! "I look forward to learning how to do this, Meri." The ideas were bouncing around in her head like medieval basketballs. "I need people to know that I am not defenseless. For some reason," and she was completely ignorant of the fact that she did not look like a warrior in any fashion or way, "people think I need constant protection. I just don't understand it." She shook her head in consternation. "Perhaps if they see me wield my mage blade, that misconception will be done away with once and for all. When can we start? What ingredients do we need?" [17:33:57] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) bit back a chuckle at Emm's apparent confusion, her lips curving gently and the sparkle in her gaze as she perused the other woman. "Well, tomorrow would be best I think, let me know when you're about and have time and we can go from there. As far as reagents, you need to decide what you think will instill the sort of power you're trying to imbue. What I might choose, might not be the same as what comes to your mind, however the effects may well be the same, if not even stronger. Who knows. So I would suggest, getting some ideas together, I will do the same, and we can both decide what works best." [17:36:32] Emm'esta Thiadil (Emmaline Mynx) had ideas coursing through her veins already. "I like this better and better. I have a very good idea." She stood and, pouring some coppers out in her hand from her coin purse, laid them on the table. "I think I will gather up Lexi and get my part of this done this very night! Diola lle, Meri. I truly appreciate how good you have been to me. I will see you on the morrow," and she made her way out the tavern door, callin, "Lexxxxxxxxxiiiiiiii! It's time to go home!"
[2015/09/08 20:03:09] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) snuggled up into her chair, carefully curling her wings about her, her latest choice of reading materials in her grip as she settled in against the fabric and opened it to read. She'd been studying this for days now, off and on, and decided it was time to try her first attempt. Her eyes flicking about the room, noting a mouse that had snuck in while the door was ajar. Meri'd start humming softly under her breath at first, the direct gaze staring down at the little squeaker, and though it seemed more of a battle than usual she'd draw the energy together and continue to build it, the Song not her usually softly lilting tones, but this time darker and more menacing.
[2015/09/08 20:09:19] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) continued to stare at the mouse, imagining the effect she wanted to create, the visualization of the mouse's repeated squeaks as it was attacked by the Magic from within. Her glinty glare sparkling like broken glass as she poured all her frustration into her spell, knowing full well it wasn't the mouse's fault how things had gone wrong, but - needing the lash out at someone - other than a friend. She'd almost wished Ashes had gone after her, almost. Fingers tightening, her Song growing in volume and power, and just when she thought she'd blast the lil squeaker... the Magic fizzled and -whooshed- out as fast as it came. It left her shaken, annoyed and hating the feeling of failure - once again.
[2015/09/08 20:21:13] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) growled again, gripping at her sides, her head falling back against the chair and a heavy sigh passing her lips. She'd watch as the mouse, apparently unharmed by the attempt, squeaked again and skittered out of sight. Meri'd peer back at the sleeping cat curled up on the rug, also unaffected by either the feeling of Magic in the air or the presence. "Gee thanks there, nice jumping right on that eh?" She'd stare at the cat, a soft hiss passing her lips which finally got a stirring of an ear and a blinking raising of the cat's head before it'd stare at Meri for a moment... then put it;s head back down... "Yeah, keep that up, I'll think of a lovely name for you, I will..." then curled back into the chair again and sighed.
[2015/09/08 20:28:09] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) leaned forward and tugged the book back to her again, her brows furrowing and the slight wince in her expression as she opened the page, her head tipping to the side once more to lean against the fabric as she went back to reading once more. She must have missed something... she -had- to get this down. Her mind casting out for a moment, searching - only to find the soft fuzzy silence yet again. She pressed her tongue between her teeth once more, biting down hard, then shook her head and dove back into it. Nothing to be done, it was all over now, the looming fatigue and stress starting to weigh on her as she suddenly closed the book and threw it across the room before curling back up into the chair again and fading off to an uneasy Reverie.
[2015/09/09 16:47] Merialeth Windstar tugged out her scroll again, the quiet in the day's business seeming an opportune time to try to catch up on some spellcasting... Her pages pulled up in front of her and the tiredness in her form as she drew her brows together and murmured the incantations under her breath. She was so used to Singing her spells now, but this one had seemed wrong in those soft lilting tones, and even when she fought to make it harder, it just... didn't sound right. Maybe that's why the spell hadn't worked... maybe it wasn't, her nights of practice would pay off eventually she knew, it was just... a matter of getting there. [2015/09/09 16:52] Merialeth Windstar kept reading, the words teasing between her lips, the feel of the Magic growing around her, harsh and yet a little faded as if she wasn't reaching her full power. Though that of course was silly, she knew exactly why things seemed to not work as well, but it only made her work harder and stronger at trying to master it. Especially now. Her words faltered a moment, the soft growl teasing at her breath then it'd smooth as she continued the spell. She couldn't think of that, had not to. Too much at stake, not just for her but others, and Meri had limited resources to depend on, but that would change. Soon. [2015/09/09 16:59] Merialeth Windstar felt the growing power as she repeated the spell over and over as if the continued chanting would release what she was missing, the rush cloying the air of Magic pooled and her eyes falling shut, the words memorized and her eyes dashing open to stare at the mouse that had yet again dared to cross the floor. Her bright green gaze sparking as she went to unleash the power and ... nothing. It was all just -gone-. She'd slump back against the chair and press her forehead to the cool material and bite back the tears. Close, so close... Her fingers tightening on the scroll as she steeled herself, the spell wasn't going to learn itself, and Meri had plans for its use. She'd dive back into reading with another sigh.
[2015/09/13 08:00:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) curled back into her bed, a glance around her new environs, far more cozy than before, but it was just her now, he was gone, and would stay that way, until she could get her head straight. At least. Her eyes dropping back to the page, she'd inhale deeply and try to focus one more drawing the energy in around her, the soft hum taking on that darker tone again as she let her eyes close, the frustration over the last couple weeks' events, the changes in the air. She'd flown over the forest earlier, and the looming darkness hadn't helped her mood at all. So many things going wrong, so little she could do, but she -had- to get this down. Her eyes flickering open to stare at the pages again, the tenor of her Song growing harsher as she could feel the strange flow building within her. Strange at least for Meri, it wasn't her usual sort of spell and the sense of it felt wrong, but - that wasn't too surprising, considering. [2015/09/13 08:18:41] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) re-read the page over and over, letting the power build within her, feeling it draw, one hand outstretched to the empty corner of the room, all her frustration growing and focused... went to push out the anger and pain and ... nothing. No flash of light, no ball of gas to inflict, just... nothing. The burst of energy left her fingers and just... disappeared. She'd cry out in frustration, her head hitting the pillow and wings curling tight about her and just... whimpered. [2015/09/13 08:35:49] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) shook her head, then sat up again, the fire in her eyes once more as she steeled herself to try again... it wasn't over, not by a long shot... and she wouldn't give up... couldn't... just... not yet... Diving back into her reading, trying to find whatever piece it was she was missing, there -had- to be something... It was just a matter of finding out -what-. But she'd get there, just because this was more difficult, didn't mean Meri would give up. Not by a long shot... Starting over at the top of the page, she'd start reading to herself again, she'd find it....
9/05/15: [20:44:59] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) heads to the magic store late in the evening, the walk through the lush greenery of the isle a pleasant one as she nods to any whom she might have seen along the way but her destination was set for the store. Ella pushes the door open, as always in awe of the colors and lights and fragrances that filled the place, she clears her throat and calls out to the same blonde male she had seen the last time she was here "Ahem... Hello there! Is Meri around? I had hoped to see if she could help a bit with the spell she had said she would offer lessons in?" [20:51:11] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) jerked her head up at the sound of the door, her eyes blinking about and the book beneath her fingers sliding back as she leaned over slightly in her seat and caught sight of Ella below. The soft dip of her head and warm murmur of "Good evening... I'll be right down..." as she slid the chair back a little bit, and lifted to her feet, turning to head down and stifling a yawn. "Apologies I was so caught up apparently I didn't even hear the door..." Her steps pausing as she reaches the front counter, tipping her head the barest amount in thought then added "Levitation, yes? How has your practice been going so far?" [20:58:47] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) looks up as she hears the sounds and nods as she sees Meri descend. Ella smiles "Good eve! Not at all! Must be a good read then", she makes a polite gesture at the book she had left to attend to Ella. Ella anyway reaches into a pouch and pulls out a silver, she had had the few days to save that amount. Passing the fee towards her over the counter she smiles wryly and shakes her head "Well I memorized the incantation... and did try to focus and apply my concentration but... uh... lets just say... things do not want to listen to me!", she chuckles "There must be -something- I am doing wrong... ", she shakes her head and pulls out that scroll, which did look a lot creased and used well by now, for she had at least read it once or twice a day, and she bends to look at it before looking back up at Meri, "I'm all ready for a good lesson!" [21:07:20] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) chuckled wryly, a glance upwards behind her and back to Ella, her own light sigh of frustration "Oh, trust me I understand your battle, I'm studying myself... and well - shall we say the fates are not with me either. As much as I emphasize it in others' learning, it's .. sobering to remember that it's no easier to learn myself sometimes." The soft purr of laughter on her breath as she shrugs lightly "Anyway, yes I'm quite sure you are. You'll get it I'm sure, just a matter of time and determining what the best method of focus is for you, and how to express that in your spell. How do you usually do your casting, Ella?" [21:12:57] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) nods in agreement, "Aye.. true that!", she nods and goes on to explain "I normally do not channel my focus through an object, for, as forgetful as I am... it is highly likely that I would lose my channeling device every hour", she rolls her eyes "It is mostly by focus on the intended target for the effect of my spell to take place on, and by saying the incantation out loud. Oh I have had so many troubles with that... sometimes I forget the spell half way through... but thankfully practice overcomes all.. yes? But anyway... as I was saying, reciting the chant in crisp tones mostly has worked well enough for me." [21:19:33] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded softly, the answer she sought within Ella's reply bringing a smile to her lips "I know it can be different for everyone, so I tend to inquire. For me it's either spoken, or Song, but I'm sure you've likely noticed that." She'd used it to pull the scroll out that Ella was holding, and though normally she wouldn't reveal as such, it was a lesson of sorts that the necessity of casting could be just as flexible. "Alright then, so once you go to focus... try... " glancing about the room, Meri'd grin at the silver and dash her a smile "Show me how you've done so far..." [21:26:48] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) nods, "Oh I do believe I have heard you sing at times... that is your means of casting? Interesting", she smiles at the woman, a bit intrigued at her prowess on such. Ella nods once as she is asked to show her how she had gone about it, taking a deep breathe, she focuses on one berry on the platter set upon the counter and tries to chant the spell, obviously making mistakes in the intonations and speed of how she said it, and her eyes narrow as she blinks a bit too much, while staring on the berry. The object trembles JUST a bit visibly, but does no more. Ella sighs "There.. see.. I cannot even.. lift a grape...", she chuckles. [21:32:14] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) chuckled softly, nodding "It's one of the ways yes, it seems to help my focus... and I don't have to remember long incantations..." Meri'd grin at that... then smiles softly "It's ok - just try again, slow down your speed some, focus on the words, let them fill your head not just your lips... til all you can think about is the intent of what's in your mind, then try again..." [21:38:03] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) nods, listening carefully as Meri instructed "Alright... slow down.. let words fill head... Very well.. let me try something else now...", she turns her head, looking around for another small object nearer to focus on, the coin still on the counter, and she nods, fixing her gaze on the silver, and slooowly begins to chant the spell, the words clear and pronounced fairly correctly, as her eyes did not move while she concentrated on the coin. (1/2) [21:40:28] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) just nodded quietly, unwilling to distract overmuch, she'd press her lips together, biting back the instinct to start humming along and enhance the draw of Magic she could feel looming. The shiver tracing down her spine, the soft rustling sounding about her again as she watched between Ella and her focus, listening to the cadence of the words and the tones of her voice as she nodded softly in encouragement. [21:43:13] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) flicks her gaze from the coin to look at Meri, like how a child would look up at a teacher to see if she was doing something right? Not seeing any deterring action from her, Ella keeps at it, a bit more focused but, even small distractions cost a lot, and just as she approaches the end of the chant, the coin lifts up from the surface by barely the width of a finger before clattering back on to the wooden counter with the usual metalling soft clanging sound. Ella's eyes widen "Oh that -actually- moved!", she exclaims with a grin, cuz, well even -that- much was HUGE for her. [21:46:03] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) just grinned, her eyes fixed on the coin and as it slid, she'd nod once, content "That - is a very good start.. and see! All it takes is a little more practice... and perseverance... You'll get there... Now, did you notice anything different in the feel of the Magic as you were casting, something more concrete you can use to remind yourself next time?" [21:50:13] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) narrows her eyes at it took her some effort to actually put into memory what she had done different. "Uhhmmm... Slower... definitely a LOT slower than I normally said it while I tried it before... and um.. no foxes or wolves or anything to distract me... Well I -did- practice in teh Carnival.. which probably was not the most prudent thing to do", she chuckles sheepishly and then seriously adds "Well when I do take the time, the words do feel more easier to say... and like you said, taking the time makes them fill my head... it is usually spells like this that confund me... evocation and such... there speed does matter a lot!", she mutters almost to herself, trying to find a way to get better at remembering this spell. [21:55:07] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nods and smiles Evocs were not one of her strong points either, so "I totally understand that... so keeping those in mind, the next time you practice, make sure you slow down a little, take your time, if need be, even close your eyes if it will help you visualize what you're doing until you get it clearer in your head. Then just keep trying." It sounded short and sweet, and - well - it sort of was. The main trick was finding what little quirks fit for the particular spell one was trying to learn. "Anything else you can think of, or other things that came to your mind while you were trying this time?" [22:01:55] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) nods, listening and trying to commit to memory all that she was being told. Taking deep breathes, she nods, looks around the shop, and smirks "Well at least with this spell, I will always remember the smell of incense and herbs... in here... -that- is unique to my learning of this spell... ", she chuckles and rolls up the scroll to tuck in back safely "Um.. well anyway, The gist is, focus, slow down, speak clearly, use some sort of mnemonic device, and lots and lots of practice...", she sighs "Feels like I'm back in training.. but when does one stop training hm? You might leave the school.. but school never leaves you eh?" [22:06:10] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) grinned and nodded once more, yep Meri was like a medieval bobblehead at times, but - when the situation warranted, well - so be it. "That sounds like you have it pretty well down, and indeed, at this rate, might get you in here to teach others and pass on the knowledge you have!" Meri'd smile warmly, the words though they may have been delivered in a light-hearted tone, were more than serious, and she enjoyed the woman's presence. "And you're right - it never does really leave you, not if you wish to keep moving ahead and continuing to learn. Which at least personally, I always consider a good thing..." Meri'd chuckle softly, and flick a glance down then back as the soft lilting hum teased through her lips softly, but Ella might feel the growing sense of Magic pulling about them again. (1/2) [22:10:06] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) blinks but shakes her head with a soft laugh "Oh oh.. you are too kind to say so... Oh with my scatterbrainedness at times... I might mix up the chant for a flame bolt with that of a sleeping spell.. and -that- would not be something we wuld like!", she grins, joking of course but just as Meri started to sing, Ella straightens up, knowing her means of casting and pays keen attention to what was going on with complete silence as she sensed the arcane energy flow around. [22:13:58] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan)'s Song turned to almost a laugh, the notes skipping and tripping as the merriment rose in her gaze, her lips parting and her fingers rising to motion towards the coin as her eyes dropped from Ella's to the coin. Her head tilting ever so slightly and crooking a finger at it as if calling it, while the Song rose to a soft crescendo... the coin lifting into the air and dancing, bouncing and making it's way to Meri's open palm, as the music and Magic faded. Meri'd dash a bashful smile to Ella and dip her head "I thank you for your time, and should you wish another lesson, or want to ask any other questions, by all means I'd be delighted." [22:16:50] Ella (MaiaCalhoun) 's ears resounding with the ethereal sound of Meri's musical casting and she just watches with an open mouth as the coin -dances- its way into her palm. "Well.. To see -that- alone. It was worth it!", she grins, "Oh I should be grateful for -your- time! Thank you for the lesson! And I will keep practicing!!", she winks at the lady and offers a small bow of departure as she makes towards the door, satisfied at having learned quite a bit today! [22:18:04] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) gave her a warm smile, her head dipping with another soft nod as she murmured "Have a wonderful evening and please do be safe..." glancing out at the looming darkness then back "See you soon!"
[2015/09/16 20:40] Merialeth Windstar made her way down to the shop again, the looming cold curled about her as much as her thoughts were, her brows furrowed in thought, and her wingbeats adjusting to the change in the air as she made her way down from the Wayward Forest. Finally alighting and quickly passing within, she'd send Damien off for the night, lest she be tempted to test her spell on him and risk something going awry. Making her way up to the loft above, she'd start humming softly under her breath, pattering about, her mind half on the spell she needed to learn, and half on her tasks to be completed. The remembrance of the woman Charlotte and her request irking Meri's mind. A soft shake of her head as the one she'd intended on drawing in for the enchanting was not available, and that put Meri in a tentative position, something Meri didn't like at all. [2015/09/16 20:45] Merialeth Windstar'd step to her alchemy table, hands automatically drawing items down as the hum grew in intensity. The usual soft tones still hardened by her frustration, and perhaps, more than a bit by the loss that still weighed on her, damn him. She couldn't help the bark of laughter at the thought, another shake of her head, and continued getting the items together, trying to push him out of her mind. It only strengthened her resolve and reminded her that those words she'd written, had been far closer to the truth than even she knew. The soft sound of Music & Magic teasing through the air, growing, building, and soothing like nothing, and no one, else could. She couldn't make the ink that had been wanted, not now, but - she -could- make the potion that would do the same thing. It wouldn't last as long, but - it might suffice temporarily until Meri could get her 'other' enchanter here long enough to draw up the spell. [2015/09/16 20:51] Merialeth Windstar collected fish scales, a canary's beak, the breath of a mermaid, and a garnet. Taking down her favorite pestle & mortar, she'd carefully mix the components together, the garnet saved for last. Her movements quick and light, almost unthinking, the Song growing on the air as she wove the components together, her tattoo glowing slightly as like called to like. The slight tingling of the ink embedded in her skin building with the reagents. Meri'd pull down the fluid base, her collection of ingredients carefully pulverized and mixed into the potion as Meri's Song grew louder and she finally corked the bottle. The rush of Magic filling the air, and energy pushed into the mix as she inhaled sharply. Her grip freezing on the bottle as she felt the combining ingredients and the soft rush of breath pass her lips as she smiled softly. [2015/09/16 20:58] Merialeth Windstar held the bottle up to the light, her gaze sharp as she studied the fruits of her labor, the moment's swirling of the dark blue glass and the precious contents within. This would serve for the woman's purposes at least in the short term, and more would be made if required, but - this would last for enough days, at least for now. Three days and no more, and if that was not sufficent for her... exploration, well - they could go from there.
[2015/09/16 21:03] Merialeth Windstar leaned back against the table, content in the creation but still on edge, she needed to finish this spell. It'd been driving her to distraction, practice, reading, studying, more reading and practice, but seemingly not enough, and though she could and did promote patience with her students, it was entirely different with herself of course. She'd curl her wings about her, eyes fluttering shut in contemplation, arms laced lightly about her, and went through the scroll again in her mind's eye. She had to be forgetting something, and the feeling of such gnawed at her. Meri'd push up off the table, moving to the low rail and peer over the edge with a soft sigh on her breath, glancing about the shop below and perusing, eyes darting over the various supplies. The supplies were getting low, one of the many things that had her frustrated, and even after talking to Cedar about it, and the excitement of the trip ahead, she'd still worry and wonder.
[2015/09/16 21:06] Merialeth Windstar took a deep breath, trying to put all of it out of her head, had to focus, had to try - to build that vision in her head, and though perhaps that's part of the reason why the Magic felt... weaker, more difficult, she wasn't quite sure. But it's all she had to go on and so she'd continue. The soft hum of background Song, shifting once again into casting, hopping over the railing, her wings widespread to cushion the jump to the floor, and her steps taking her back outside for now into the darkness. Perhaps that might help. [2015/09/16 21:10] Merialeth Windstar wandered about at the edge of the Vale, her eyes darting about, pulling the feel of Magic closer. The sounds of the animals in the Forest nearby, the little typical squeaks, the sound of the wind in the trees, all of it helping her to build her focus, even as she was determined to do damage. The unwitting thought of the Harbor Master coming to mind, imposed upon the trunk and branches of a nearby tree, her brows lowering and lip curling at the idea as she inhaled sharply. A focus indeed, and one she could well draw anger and frustration into as she glared at the 'image' of the tiefling, her hand casting outwards as she let the pent-up energy coil into her hand and.... just before she'd throw it at the form, it was gone. The cry of annoyance on her lips as she felt the spell fail - it didn't -quite- make it... but she was almost there. Meri could feel it. [2015/09/16 21:13] Merialeth Windstar 'd growl once more, her head shaking softly, the expanse of her wings spreading wide, and snapped shut in self-censure. Almost, wasn't good enough... She found her steps leading her further into the Forest, and though the idea of shadelings certainly didn't please her, it was what at the end of this path that had Meri suddenly quicken her pace. She'd see the glow of the candles long before the actual Shrine, skipping lightly over the stones that took her into Her presence and settling at Her feet. [2015/09/16 21:17] Merialeth Windstar let the rush of Magic coil about her once more, this time asking Her for guidance, the prayer uplifted in wordless Song, striving to do better, to please Her, and achieve what she could in the Goddess' name before falling silent once more, content to just let Her presence wash over her. She'd try again in the morning, perhaps things would be better then. Meri'd curl up at the Goddess' feet, wings surrounding her like a silvery blanket, and drifted off to sleep in Her 'embrace'.
9/18/15: [16:39:38] Elka Otterpop™ (Adylin) followed along behind the alpha like a, ew, puppy. The thought made her cringe, but she was curious about what had happened to her hand. As they made their way into the magic shop she stayed near the door, leaning back against the door jam lest she have to leave quickly. Magic made her uneasy and while she let her thoughts drift to other things. [16:43:20] (no name) Walked inside and looked around for Meri, she could have just went and sought out Cy but Cedar told her to see Meri about it. Looking down at her hand she then looked at the male who was at the desk " 'ello there is Meri around?" Her voice softer then her normal tone though held a bit of weakness to it but she tried hard to not show it. [16:46:32] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had just padded her way downstairs from the loft, the scroll in one hand, quill in the other, the silvery feather tapped against her lips as she pondered the list she was making only to hear the door open. Her gaze snapped up to peruse the pair before her, one semblance familiar, the other, not so but... her gaze narrowing a bit at the difference in tone. Damien'd pop his head up and over to thumb over his shoulder "Oh yea - she's right .. ME...." then broke off as he caught sight of her. Her eyes suddenly squinching shut as she walked up towards him and peremptorily whacked him upside the back of the head as she murmured in her own quiet, musical tones "This place isn't that big... you don't have to yell." She'd then shift her eyes back to the two women and murmur her usual warm "What can I help you with?" [16:48:41] Elka Otterpop™ (Adylin) just lazily leaned against the door jamb, letting the two talk and do their business while she...ear hustled. She didn't really have much to say so she would just lean, listen and learn lest she had something worthwhile to add, which was doubtful since she had no real idea why they were even here. [16:52:47] (no name) Saw the woman walked down the steps, smirking a little as the woman whacked the back of the boys head. " 'ello, Cedar told me to seek you out. I got a bit of the shaderot, not first time either." Looking back at Elka then to Meri "some evil is in the forest, a tree is leaking black ichor, connected to the shadelings. I used a spell to find out its past, something dark with tentacles... its eating I believe the tree and whatever is around it... the animals have left... there is not prey to be hunted. The forest is becoming colder and too quiet for my liking. I thought it be best for you to know 'bout this." Looking back at Elka "and you also since you do want to be second." [16:59:15] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) blinked a bit at the seemingly calm way she mentioned the 'rot... though she'd spoken to Cedar that morning as well, and knew about the tree. Meri's gaze darting quickly over her, immediately concerned, the soft hum in the back of her throat as the first whisps of Magic teased through the air. Cedar -hadn't- mentioned this. "Not your first time?" she'd finally speak again, noting the darkness on the woman's hand and nodding slightly "I've noticed about the animals as well - Cedar & I spoke about it this morning, though - she hadn't mentioned you." It wasn't a fuss, simply the acknowledgment, but it'd furrow Meri's brows and have her step around the edge of the counter with a glance at Damien "Upstairs, the swirly red vials - on my desk, get ... three of them." He'd slip out of the chair and move up the stairs quickly, his expression far more serious once he'd heard what was about, and thankfully for once, didn't question Meri at all. He knew what the vials were for. "The Wayward is much the same, [16:59:15] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): not the darkness, not yet, but the quiet and the animals. The birds didn't wake me this morning." It might have sounded silly, but to Meri, and hopefully the Alpha, it would mean everything. [17:05:36] Elka Otterpop™ (Adylin) looked to the alpha's hand once more considering what she said. She had noticed the lack of animals to hunt, but hadn't truly stopped to consider that maybe they were actually leaving. Her eyes followed this Damien as he left and then her gaze landed on Meri, watching her with a distrust in her eyes. Pushing off of the wall, she took a few steps towards the woman, a sudden soft sneeze catching her off guard. So many smells were tickling her nose and confusing her senses. Her eyes flickered towards the stairs and then back to Meri, "Swirly red vials? Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Her eyes narrowed a bit, "Because calling them swirly red vials doesn't exactly sound as if you do...." [17:08:29] (no name) Nodded her head "I was actually the first one to get the shaderot on the island, its how we found the cure." Seeming way to calm on the outside about this all but inside there was a swirl of emotions going through her. "Doesn't surprise me Cedar didn't mention me.." secrecy was a big thing when it came to the pack "I do not like how quiet it is....way to quiet..." Her eyes then looked to Elka "its alright Elka, there is only one cure for this and that is holy water..." Sensing her packmate felt a bit off she tried to keep herself calm so the tension in the room wasn't too high. [17:15:36] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) glanced over at the unfamiliar face, the soft purr of laughter on her breath as she offered a slight smile, tempered only by the Alpha's condition. "That's for his benefit, not mine... And yes, I know well what I'm doing, but I do understand your concern, I'd be worried too in your position." Her voice still soft as always, her voice calm and measured. She'd look back to the Alpha and hold out her hand as Damien rattled around upstairs and brought down the three vials Meri'd asked for, setting them on the counter at her nod, then stepped back out of the way. "Actually - there's two ways... " Now that Valeska had given them the means to alleviate this affliction that is... nodding towards the vials, she'd add "Holy water yes, but - those of Valeska's Servants, have another weapon in our arsenal...." Meri'd step forward, that soft hum on her breath again and place her right hand, palm up and wait for the Alpha to place hers atop Meri's. The sound of Magic pooling in the air as the haunting and [17:15:36] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): soothing melody came from her lips, she'd hold the Alpha's gaze with a slight dip of her head in encouragement. It wasn't easy, but Meri could do it. (1/3) [17:21:05] Elka Otterpop™ (Adylin) nodded at the alpha's reassurance and she relaxed marginally. As much as one could given what she had just heard and given that she was standing in a magic shop. The woman's soft laugh put her right back on edge again. Her muscles tensed and she studied her face while she spoke looking for any hint that she shouldn't be trusted. She took a step back away from the two, but she was willing to take lives if something adverse happened to the alpha. One hand rested upon the dagger in her belt. You know, just in case. [17:26:13] (no name) Turned towards Elka, letting out a soothing rumble from her chest as she spoke to her pack mate "I trust Meri, she is not one to cause harm to one to looking for help".. or at least she hoped. But nothing about Meri caused her to be worried. Though as Meri said there was a second way the she-wolf tilted her head "second way? and what way is this?" Feeling the presence of magic she looked at the woman's hand then to the woman's eyes as she held her gaze. The Alpha's gaze was hardened and protected in a way but she put her left hand in Meri's hand and waited to see what happened next. [17:30:36] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) wasn't fazed a bit, if the other felt uncomfortable in the shop, the best thing for Meri would be to get the Alpha back on her feet again so to speak. And so that is what she focused on, the grip of the hilt on the woman's belt met only with a glance over and another soft dip of her head in understanding before returning her gaze to the Alpha. The Song still rising on her breath, the hint of Magic growing stronger in the room. Meri's eyes held on the Alpha's for a moment, the clarity of vision filling her as the Alpha put her hand atop Meri's. Her eyes widening then snapping shut, the rustling all about the Elf got louder as she tipped her head back and the soft Music became strained, pleading... Meri's left hand lifting to raise over and hover above the Alpha's... her hands glowing as the Magic swelled in the air, and the casting continued. (2/3) [17:34:15] Elka Otterpop™ (Adylin) gave the smallest of gestures to the alpha to say that she understood, but her hand stayed on her dagger. Her fingers tightening around the hilt as the woman sang or chanted or whatever it was that these magic types called it. It wasn't that she thought she was going to hurt the alpha anymore, she seemed okay with it all, but just because it made her feel more comfortable and secure. Her gaze would flicker between the faces of the two as she listened and watched. [17:36:45] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (LilMia91): [ugh rl sucks i need to drive my mom somewhere to look at a car, will either of you be on in an hour to finish this?] [20:02:16] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (LilMia91) is online. [20:25:52] (no name) ||Watched Meri quietly as she uses her magic, keeping her questions till the end. The she-wolf watched the mage sing the song of a spell which made her interested on how she did her spell. She stood as still as she could. [20:33:27] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) kept up her Song, the wordless plea filling the air, asking for the Blessing of Valeska to be placed on the Alpha, to instill the Aura of Perfection that She graced her Predicants with, to flow into the she-wolf and eradicate any hints of the disease and infection of the Shaderot. Her eyes still closed, the flutter of air around her and as the Song came to it's peak, the rush of Magic would expand then center and focus into the Alpha's hand with a flash of light that faded into her skin. The light obscuring their hands for a moment, then ebbing slowly as Meri wobbled a little bit and leaned against the counter, ehr eyes still closed for a long moment before she'd finally release the Alpha's hand and open her eyes with a faint smile. "Her Blessing upon you Alpha...." whispered softly as she glanced down at Sophia's hand, and smiled. [20:44:43] (no name) Felt the magic pulse in the air around them as Meri's song continued, her eyes closed for a moment before opening as she felt the rush of magic hit her all of a sudden. A gasp escaped her lips as she watched the light around there hands before it slowly went away. She felt a it better and watched as the shaderot started to disperse from her skin. Looking to Meri she was smiled "thank you Meri, that is incredible... such power.. Do you need help to sit somewhere? I bet that took a lot of energy, I owe a debt to you now. If you ever need help I will be here for you." [20:52:56] (no name) Watched as the woman's wings came out, her eyes went wide for a moment before a hint of a grin formed on her face "your wings are beautiful, I guess we all have our own little secrets." Stepping forward she would off her arm and if Meri took it she would help the woman around the counter to where she needed. [20:58:22] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) watched her face carefully, the very edge of fearful before the Alpha's smile lit her features and Meri'd relax. Her cheeks warming, coloring faintly as she murmured a quiet "Very kind of you, thank you..." then took her arm, moving carefully about the counter, steering wide of the candles, her other hand tracing over the counter's edge, then settled against and half-into the hanging chair. Meri'd search her face carefully, then nod towards the three vials. "Those are for you. I know that Her blessing has cured you, however, should you see any hints, or find any traces of the ichor, keep those with you, and please, stay clear. I hope your kin is safe, and should you be in need again, call on me." [21:01:35] (no name) Reached out and took the three vials before walking around the counter once more "thank you again Meri, again if you need any help or anything just seek me out. I do hope you have a good evening and safe paths to you." A gentle smile was given before the Alpha opened the shops door and walked out and back towards the forest. [21:04:21] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded once more and offered a warm smile "I will remember, and you as well - the woods, are getting... cold." She'd watch her walk out the door, then sigh as she leaned into the chair. She'd whisper in Elven <<Please Goddess, I don't want to have to do that again...>>
[2015/09/19 23:25:13] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) felt strange to be heading back to the Inn again after finding her home out in the Wayward, but things had changed, and well - she'd appreciated the offer Cedar made for letting her stay there for now. There'd been a chill in the air and Meri couldn't discount it as the weather changing with the shift in their travel pattern, she was sure it had to do with the Blackness. Her thoughts going back again to the tree in the woods and her mind full of the sights and scents, and remembering the Water poured upon the tree, and how little it'd done. Her wings pulled close to her as she padded along, her arms full of the books she couldn't bear to leave behind, making her way from the depths of the Wayward and heading for the Village. Her eyes flicking over as she passed the little gazebo, the stone bridge towards the Forest drawing her gaze as she stared at the Blackness that in the dark, seemed absolute. The eerie silence made her shiver, and she'd stop short and stare. The books collected to one side as [2015/09/19 23:25:13] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): she felt her frustration build... The time she'd spent at the Shrine, hadn't seemed to do anything, Meri's throat almost raw from Singing, pleading with Her, hoping that something she could do would affect Her... but nothing. Her chin dipped downward against her chest, eyes fluttering closed, one hand lifting to direct at the Forest as her voice lifted once more in a soft but intent chant. This certainly wouldn't help the situation, but it'd make Meri feel better, if only for a moment. The pooling Magic filled the air as the rush thrilled through her, difficult as it had been - maybe it was her anger that drove her on. [2015/09/19 23:32:21] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) stepped towards the edge of the bridge, wary of the Blackness she remembered as the chant continued. Her wings rustling, the power coiling and teasing around her as her voice continued to rise, the cold wind ruffling her feathers as she felt herself fall into the spell, felt it take over her unlike anything else she'd learned, save one, and finally opened her eyes to glare and feel the bolt shoot from her outstretched fingertips with a shout. The Magic flew away from her and off into the direction of the trees, splattering against the nearest one as she just stared... "I... I finally did it..." Of course, it couldn't hurt the tree any more than it was afflicted already but... "I did it!" The momentary burst of delight that she'd finally conquered the spell that had been eluding her brought a burst of delight to pass through her lips, and she'd spin about in the darkness, realizing it likely looked, well - to put it bluntly, rather stupid. She'd soften her voice then and whisper... "I did it..." [2015/09/19 23:32:21] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): then hurried along to the tavern... At least -one- thing was going right.
9/20/15: [19:03:42] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) had changed, had her moment with Cailean, given him reminders and made sure he was prepared as best she could. She'd packed a bag with things she thought important, and then headed across the isle to the magic shop to find Merialeth. When she arrived, she did so with a look at once somber and apprehensive. She didn't know what they'd find outside the isle nor more what they'd find when they got back. A glance given to Damien, who blinked at Cedar for the way she was dressed was not her usual sort of attire. Then Cedar lilted out, "Am lookin' fer Merialeth," with an arch of a brow. [19:11:00] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) flicked a glance up at the sound of the door, of course nothing else betrayed Cedar's entrance other than perhaps the bag that might have it's own smells. Her eyes darting down as Damien nudged his head upwards "She's up there..." then turned his head about to call up when Meri'd catch sight of her. "I'll be right down..." Her brows furrowed, the book she'd been writing in, instead of reading for once, carefully closed after a few more words scribbled within. The soft hum of Magic on the air as she sealed it then nestled it within her desk before unlacing her legs from beneath her and lifted to her feet. Her gaze flicking about the loft before plucking up one folded page and heading downstairs. She'd pass it to Damien with a small smile "Be careful, take care of yourself, don't let anyone push you around eh? I'll be back tomorrow..." Hopefully "Hang on to this." It was her directions for him while she was gone. Her own pack tugged free of the corner nearby, her bow and quiver put in their usual [19:11:00] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): places, then gave a faint smile to Cedar "Shall we?" [19:17:12] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) definitely had her bow and arrow too! It just you know, didn't sit in the usual place since she had a backpack on! Anyway, Cedar watched the clerk as Meri came down and handed him the folded note. Then she smiled towards Meri and gave a nod. "Aye then." Turning, she pulled the door back open -- she hadn't any idea where they'd cast their spell, but such a thing like that was likely better not done indoors. Stepping outside, she waited for the elf and once the door fell shut behind Meri as well, Cedar asked, "Where to then?" [19:21:29] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) watched as Damien just kind of gripped the note, his head dipping and a look of unusual concern crossed his face. "Be careful, Merialeth." She'd offer a slight smile and nod and pushed at his shoulder "It'll all be fine.. It'll be an adventure, eh?" Holding that smile on her lips then heading out the door behind Cedar, and only then letting her too-bright expression drop as she'd glance about them, then motion towards the back of the shop and the sight of the cliffs beyond... It was a nice clear open area, and the sound of the surf below, had always calmed her. "I think this will work, easy enough in both our minds for the trip back, yes?" [19:27:38] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) turned in the direction Meri gestured and headed towards the back of the shoppe. She'd never found cause to head back there before but she could understand the appeal of the place once she had. It was soothing and filled with an idea of peace - on the edge of the isle with the surf below. Cedar smiled and gave the elf a nod. "Aye, do think as it will be fine," she lilted. [19:32:21] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) felt a hint of peace tease through her as she glanced about them, the smile slowly returning to her features as she nodded to Cedar. "Whenever you're ready..." Her voice soft, and slightly strained, the soft hum rising in the back of her throat as she pooled her thoughts, and the hint of Magic about them. Her eyes flicking to Cedar in the looming darkness and waited for her to start her portion of the spell for Meri to follow along. [19:39:05] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) took another breath and let it go before she nodded again and turned to face the water. Kigery was the place she wished to take them. Kigery, a place she thought lovely enough for a city of sorts. And that they stood on the water's edge now and could hear the lapping of the waves did indeed help bring the idea of the port city to mind. Closing her eyes, Cedar tried to envision the wharf and the ships that were docked along it, the buildings of stone and the crowd along the streets. For now, for this moment, she only focused on building the idea of the place in her mind and solidifying it there. As she did so, she lifted her arms with hands held aloft before her. Those hands served as the focus for her mana's draw and from them she would build her portal. Swiftly, the magic gathered along her palms and burned with a brightness and ethereal color that belied the nature of the magic Cedar wielded. She let the wash of gathering magic sweep along her form, like another brush of a wind so similar to the wind [19:39:05] (no name) that came from the water below, and let herself see the streets of Kigery in the center of her mind. [19:43:15] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had done this once before... but this time was totally different, she couldn't 'see' where she was going, and it... scared her a little. But she trusted Cedar, had to, they both had too much hanging on this, and so all she could do, was start her own casting, the energy growing between her hands, and as it was Cedar that was leading, offered her Magic to strengthen the portal, letting her Song lift and tease along the air, the sounds of the surf and winds, clean here on the far side of the Isle. Meri'd cling to that, her hopes and wishes funnelling into Cedar's portal, hopefully to allow her to piggyback as it were. The unknown looming before her, but - it'd be quite the ride... [19:51:01] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) had a moment of struggle to retain her focus with Meri's song adrift on the air. She'd known it would be coming, of course, for she was no stranger to the way the avariel cast her magic. Yet it wasn't a component that Cedar used herself and she faltered a moment, feeling as if the idea of the port city was slipping away. Steeling herself with a grit of her teeth, Cedar worked to bring the image of Kigery back to the center of her mind. As well, was the whelming of additive magic from Meri, and this she broadened the stance of her hands to allow. Slowly, a portal began to form before the small fae's hands, the blooming of magic before her a mixture of Meri's mana as well as her own. And as she wove the ribbons of the mana about each other, she drew her mind through the port city to the idea of a Tavern she had once enjoyed. It was there that Cedar had held her moment of love for the pastries she'd explained to Merialeth earlier in the day. And it was a place as good as any to set their destination for. [19:51:01] (no name) She thought of the aroma's of the sweet treat she had come to adore, and she thought of the flavors of their reknown honeymead. She thought of the sounds of joviality and bustle the tavern had held and she fixed her mind's eye to the side of the road that ran before it. Each of these details and more were used to interlock the portal's magic into place. Each of these memories and yet more still were used to line the ribbons of their mana together to pave the way. And when she felt as though she'd the location central within the spell and not merely her own mind, Cedar let her eyes open, the portal hanging before them in place. [19:59:03] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) felt Cedar's Magic waver, the softening of her Song and strengthening of the Magic instead, the slight blush of color in her cheeks as she glanced aside at Cedar and realized she'd been the cause. Her eyes fluttering closed, the image of the growing portal before them felt as much as seen, and Meri'd almost break off her own Song in the sudden scents and sounds that assailed her from the far side of the Portal as it came into being. Her eyes snapping open as she realized it wasn't her imagination, but the Portal itself, and her gaze darted to Cedar once more as it solidified and stabilized. The unwitting crow of delight on her lips and delight in her features to see the wealth of newness just beyond them before realizing, it'd likely be a good thing to get her arse through it... fast. "Should... I?" Nodding towards the glowing circle and back to Cedar. The other had closed as soon as he'd gone through it, and she didn't want to be left behind. [20:02:59] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) 's hands remained outstretched, uncertain if she lowered them if the portal would vanish. She felt the weight of the cost of the magic deep within her, similar to that which it'd cost to heal another and with a moment of reflection considered the depth of the miraculous both of those spells were. Shaking her head at Meri's words, Cedar instead said, "Take me hand lass, an' we'll go tagether." In truth, she'd no idea how such was done. She hadn't ever taken another through the portal with her before. But she imagined it wouldn't be much different than taking another into the spirit's world, and if so, the connection between them would be required. Her hands remained aloft, holding the portal open, and only after Merialeth fit a hand to one of hers would the fae begin to move, stepping through it. [20:08:20] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded and offered a faint smile, the understanding clear in her gaze as the rush of Magic pulled at her. She let her hand lift and fingers entwine in Cedar's with a soft murmur of "It's rocky once you get through... but only for a moment..." Likely the only hint she'd give that Meri'd done this before. "It's kinda easier if you don't look." She'd held his hand then too, but - it had been different then, than now, and her smile faded ever so slightly in remembrance, then closed her eyes and as Cedar stepped forward, so did she, her fingers gripping Cedar's and the hilt of her sword in her other hand. The fleeting thought of 'here we go!'

Spell Learning - 'Lingering Hex' (As of 9/2/15, finished 9/20/15) [2015/09/08 20:03:09] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) snuggled up into her chair, carefully curling her wings about her, her latest choice of reading materials in her grip as she settled in against the fabric and opened it to read.
9/13/15: [2015/09/13 08:00:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) curled back into her bed, a glance around her new environs, far more cozy than before, but it was just her now, he was gone, and would stay that way, until she could get her head straight.

Trait Improvement - Magic (As of 9/28/15, finished 11/3/15) 1. Making the potions for Bradock & Ella - Adaptation: [2015/09/25 13:16] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) made her way back to the table, the potion she'd spoken of to Bradock needed to be made, and she didn't want to waste any time. Who knew when Ella'd come by for them. She'd make an extra just in case, knowing that Charlotte was supposed to come for the first one, and the stock couldn't hurt. Meri'd make her way to the table above, the ingredients brought to mind that she'd used before successfully. The fish scales, canary's beaks, two mermaid breaths, and two garnets. Her brows furrowing, that mermaid was going to start making a killing if she had to do many more of these potions... Her usual mortar & pestle pulled down, and a second one beside, she'd divvy up the ingredients as she had before. Her soft hum of Song in the air as she worked quietly, the tip of her head back and forth without even realizing she was doing so. The faint strains of a nursery song coming to mind as she wove together the reagents, the shattering sound of the gems breaking and being ground always making her wince.
[2015/09/25 13:20] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) took her time, knowing she was dividing her Magic and her concentration, but she'd grown adept at it, and just considered such as another expression of her growing Magical skill. The lilting Song filling the air as she pulled down two of her potion bases, the swirly blue glass almost clear, just the hint almost like air itself, and one by one, she'd scoop the now-prepared reagents into the bases, and one bottle in each hand, corked and mixed them, her Song rising higher, calling the components to meld and merge as she swirled them around. They were to protect life, protect breath, allowing the Warden pair to breathe freely underwater, to be able to find what it was that was needed to cure this blight on the land. Meri'd been tempted to offer to go with, but though she might in case of emergency, wings didn't work well underwater, and hollow bones tended to be too light to dive. Didn't stop her from thinking about it though. She'd feel the Magic come to a peak, her tattoo glowing as before, the [07:13:11] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): power rising then -poof- centered and absorbed into each vial as she let them settle to the counter, and gripped the counter as the rush of Magic traced through her. There, it was done.
2. Making a Fire starter for Rei after Charlotte has left with her tattoo - had Meri only known what it'd been used for... [2015/09/25 17:27] Rei Anundr Aldin watched the one-eyed woman slip out. She hardly gave him a glance. He continued to sit there for a few minutes before finally standing and walking through the store again. He wasn't surprised to see her sitting down. "You've been working for awhile," he observed - knowing there was probably no way she had imbued anything for him yet.
[2015/09/25 17:33] Merialeth Windstar glanced up, the wry grin on her lips and tip of her head as she nodded "Seems so, today has been busy..." Not that Meri was complaining a bit, she wasn't, but usually people were more spaced out - er timing wise that is. She didn't mind though, and at least one of the things that had been weighing on her mind was dealt with, so that was good. "I'd ask if you've been well, but I certainly hope it's not gotten any worse than the last time I saw you?" Er, however long ago that was? Her toes teased against the floor as she rocked in the chair for a moment or two before slippng down from it and clapping her hands once, softly "So... a firestarter... Let's see what we can do, hm?" Bt first and foremost, Meri had to quickly clean up after herself, the tattoo pins she'd jsut used were Sang to, purified and ran through the flames once more than flared then settled back to their usual brightness now that Meri didn't need the extra light. She'd place them back in their little case, and put the case away under the counter before perusing him, deep in thought "Hm....what would be best, a stone to rub, or an [2015/09/25 17:33] Merialeth Windstar: amulet?"
[2015/09/25 17:40] Rei Anundr Aldin tilted his head, trying to recall exactly is state last time he had ran in to her. "Atleast it means coin in your pocket," he said optimistically as she spoke about how busy she was. "I'm alright. A little worried about the state of the isle." Supplies were running thin and he wanted to get items while he could. When she began to clean up her prior work, he became impressed and admired her thoroughness. Clean needles - and appreciated sight. "A stone. Someone is less likely to steal it." The logic was clear to him, he didn't hesitate on that question at all. [2015/09/25 17:40] Rei Anundr Aldin: recall exactly the state he was in last time he ran in to her.***
[2015/09/25 17:46] Merialeth Windstar nodded and totally agreed with the choice. "It does... though agreed, I am as well, worried about this darkness and the fact people are getting sick." It worried and bothered her, and though so far things at least personally were going fairly well - what affected the Isle affected her too, too loathe to try to leave, too much at stake to just watch it all fade away. But there was always hope. She'd turn and beckon him to follow her, making her way up the stairs with that soft hum on her breath, eyes casting about the room as she made her way over towards the table in the far corner. Her fingertips dancing over the cubbyholes as she opened, perused, then closed then before little by little drawing out a few assorted items. Her pause, then glance over again with a slight dip of her head, then going back to her sorting and arranging as she finally pulled free a small stone, stared at it a moment, put it back, then glanced within another cubby for something else. "It's always easier to enchant something when it has a bit of Magic naturally inherent.." She'd murmur, half speaking to herself, and half- [2015/09/25 17:47] Merialeth Windstar explaining to him.
[2015/09/25 17:51] Rei Anundr Aldin watched her move off, surprised he was invited to most past the main counter of the store. He was slow to follow, looking at items he past. While ascending the stairs his hand would run over the bark covered banisters. It was nice in here, but it smelt funny. His attention was drawn back to her as she dug through just the right corner. It was clear to him she knew this store well. "How do you know i something is magically inherent?" he wondered. [2015/09/25 17:59] Rei Anundr Aldin: know if**
[2015/09/25 18:02] Merialeth Windstar tipped her head in thought, trying to explain how it -feels- to someone that doesn't have the spark. Kinda like explaining the color blue to the blind. She'd glance over at him, then finally murmur "It just... some materials just seem to -take- Magic better, it absorbs, reverberates, enhances it. It's like..." Trailing off a moment then resuming "Do you work with hides much? Tanning and the like? Some animals' hides take dye better than others, it absorbs more color, softens better, resists stretching, that sort of thing. With Magic, and say stones..." finally pulling out an unassuming stone, she'd show it to him then add "Looks like just a rock, eh? Nothing special, but..." And she'd hold her hand around it, letting a cantrip heat the stone, feeling it warm before it finally cracked, just the barest amount. She'd turn the stone and show the flash of brilliant color of a fire opal. "You never know what's inside, but I can -feel- the potential - what it -can- become, with Magic." Her brows furrowed again, setting the stone down on the table before her and glancing back to him. "Does that kinda [2015/09/25 18:02] Merialeth Windstar explain? The inside just calls."
[2015/09/25 18:08] Rei Anundr Aldin listened carefully. He wasn't sure he understood that well, until she gave it a comparison. When she held out the stone he stepped closer. It was like a legit magic trip as she revealed the opal. He was really intrigued now. "You're a good teacher," he answered her question with a smile. Was there anything she didn't do? Part-doctor (or how he thought of her anyway), to magician, to business owner, archer, tattoo artist... was there anything she didn't do? He noticed the fur around her shoulders. He had almost forgot, avariel too. "That looks like it would fit in my pocket well..." he remarked on the stone she laid on the table.
[2015/09/25 18:27] Merialeth Windstar blinked, then blushed brightly, her eyes widening as she perused his face, then dropped her gaze back to the opal, her fingers stroking over the stone lightly and with a bashful smile on her lips. "That's kind of you to say..." She'd murmur softly then flush a bit more. There was a lot she couldn't do, and a lot she had no comprehension of at all, but - she tried her best. The soft nod and smile on her lips as she hefted it again and bounced it lightly in her hand. Her thumb brushing over the crack in the stone, her fingers closing over it just enough, then dashing a look over to his hand before flicking her gaze back and nodding. "Indeed, it would..." She'd place it back down and start speaking again as she pulled down a pestle and mortar, the soft lilting sound of her voice almost music on it's own as she drew together some various plants, breaking them up and placing them into the cup and starting to grind them up together. "THe trick with imbuing, is to put together items that have the same or similar qualities, and kinda, push those abilities into what you're trying to instill. Like for fire, [2015/09/25 18:28] Merialeth Windstar little pieces of what you'd use for tinder..." and here she'd take up a small seemingly burned stick, shaving off some of the ashy outer coating of bark into the mix as well "...to go along with the Magic. THe Magic binds it, gives it life, but - the reagents tell it what sort of life to give." Her Song fading to her usual wordless hum, the scents filling the room even more so with the addition of new ingredients in the mix, a hint of cinnamon, cayenne, feverfew, the bark of the birch tree burned but not quite to ash, and a coal... all of them smashed together and the stone placed in another shallow bowl, her reagents placed over and atop the stone as her Song rose on the air. One hand hovering over the mix, her soft voice rising and falling as she Sang to the stone, pulling it's essence, drawing it forth and enhancing it with the items she'd placed around it... The soft wordless chant rising to a peak as she felt the Magic rise and with a brief flash of light, the reagents disappeared, and the stone glowed brightly on it's own, before settling and fading once more. Only the hint of that color teasing [2015/09/25 18:28] Merialeth Windstar from the edge. Meri'd grip the edge of the table, the slight wobble as the rush of Magic was built and consumed before swallowing hard and letting her eyes close.
[2015/09/25 18:40] Rei Anundr Aldin noticed the color come to her cheeks. He turned his attention to the stone, smiling fondly. She took compliments well, as if she wasn't even expecting them. That other visitor of the store had come here to learn from her as well - she should have known she was good at teaching. He stepped closer as she began to mix items in the bowl, wanting a good look of the process. It was only when the humming began he inhaled a sharp breath as he realized he was witnessing an imbuing with song. It wasn't the first time he came across it - it brought up memories. It was like he was entranced between the lighting it emitted and her melodies. Only the wobbling wood had him pull out of his thoughts and he too would lean over to place his palm down on the wooden surface. He looked back to her, realizing now how much closer he was to her now. "Uhh.. is it done?" he wondered outloud, trying to use his curiousity to justify his lingering. [2015/09/25 18:41] Rei Anundr Aldin: surface to help hold it still.**
[2015/09/25 18:50] Merialeth Windstar never did expect compliments, regardless of how often she might or might not receive them, it'd been pushed into her too much that she never deserved the kind words, and she'd grown to never know what to think. Her eyes slowly opening once more as she regained her balance, the wobble not in the wood of the table, but herself, as her stance settled. It was only then that she'd realized how close he'd moved. Her eyes flashing wide, the quick intake of breath and harsher rustle about her, looking far more like a startled deer than anything else about then as she swallowed hard, and finally caught her breath enough to drop her gaze to the stone again. "I.. yes... it's done." Her fingers grazing over the top of the stone, her eyes closing for a moment as if listening, then smiling gently to him. "It's ready."
[2015/09/25 18:53] Rei Anundr Aldin: ((haha woops. I cannot read tonight)) [2015/09/25 18:53] Merialeth Windstar: ((It's ok - it could have gone either way))
[2015/09/25 19:00] Rei Anundr Aldin stared back at her as she looked up at him startled. Maybe she was uncomfortable, but not him. The short silent exchanges, he felt like he could read people best. He gazed at her until she looked down at the stone. He had to remind himself to look away, knowing his intrigue might be awkward. When it came to her work, she was so sure of herself- he could hear it in her voice. He didn't know much about her good her magical sense was, but this closeness - she might feel another item that was magically inherent. The short cloak around his neck was imbued with its own fun power. "How does it work exactly?" he asked, all business on the product. He was already picturing striking a blade against it like a flint... but that couldn't be right? Magic.. maybe a different method.
[2015/09/25 19:10] Merialeth Windstar 's eyes held on his as he looked to her, the hint of Magic teasing about him she could feel though not the source. It did surprise her the barest amount, if he had other magical - why would... it didn't matter, wasn't her place, but she'd dart a glance back up as he inquired, then let her fingers trace over it again as she murmured "Do you know any Elvish?" then dashed a look back upwards, her eyes flicking over him again, though she'd hold her ground, barely, her lips curving ever so faintly. "I can make it different if you wish, but - as it's the Spirit of Fire within, I thought it somewhat fitting..."
[2015/09/25 19:15] Rei Anundr Aldin: "Uma," he answered her 'yes' in elvish quietly. "An old language a human wouldn't know," he thought of the benefits. He smiled at her, admiring the clever thought. "Show me," he insisted again, wanting to see the stone in action. [2015/09/25 19:19] Rei Anundr Aldin: In the back of his head, a small voice told him maybe he should step back. What if she set him on fire with his shiny new toy? He didn't move though, his curiosity and intrigue of her getting the better of him.
[2015/09/25 19:20] Merialeth Windstar 's eyes widened again, the slight dip of her head, though - it was unusual to be sure, but not impossible, but she'd study him a bit more, intrigued before nodding once more. Lifting the stone, she'd offer it to him, waiting til he'd taken it from her grip, then turned, glancing about, the nibble of her bottom lip as she debated a safe place to trigger it before finally nodding towards the metal bucket near the side of the table, the few random pieces of paper half-hanging out of the bucket as she nodded towards it, then murmured "Just aim the broken edge towards that and say 'Fire' in Elvish..." and waited to see what he'd do.
[2015/09/25 19:26] Rei Anundr Aldin finally broke his eyes from hers, finally to look at the stone. His fingertips brushed against her palm as he grasped the small stone. He stepped back from her as he felt the stone in his hand. Her instructions seemed simple enough and he took aim. He concentrated very hard on his target. The last thing he wanted to do was set something on fire he shouldn't. Hopefully over thinking it wasn't going to make it worse neither. "Naur," he spoke the word while squeezing the stone in his fingers, the broken edge at aiming at the bucket.
[2015/09/25 19:31] Merialeth Windstar felt the brush against her hand like a thrill chased through her. Her breath stopping for a moment, then starting again, her cheeks flaming hot now with embarrassment at her own reaction, her eyes dashing away, then casting back to the bucket, the half-step back as she nibbled on her lip and waited to see the efforts of her work. She knew what would happen but... there was always that -tiiiiiny- hint of 'will everything go right?'. She should have relaxed though, should have known all was well, the spark shooting from the tone and landing with a bright flash that licked eagerly at the papers and fell completely into the bucket, lighting and catching merrily. [2015/09/25 19:31] Merialeth Windstar: stone*
[2015/09/25 19:36] Rei Anundr Aldin grinned wide at the desired effect and sighed a breath of relief. It was so easy. He threw the stone up, catching it shortly and shaking it in his hand, the excitement in his body language. "This will do," he said happily, turning his head over his shoulder to grin at her. He was very pleased. "What do I owe you Meri?" he asked, turning to face her once more. He was certain this would be worth every coin.
[2015/09/25 19:43] Merialeth Windstar couldn't help but dash a smile upwards at his happiness, relaxing some as she watched him like a kid with a new toy. Owe her? Oh right! Payment... um... She'd blink a moment, glancing at the stone, head tilted in thought, then looked towards the table with the traces of reagents, then back to him. The stone alone was worth a decent amount, let alone the capacity, but.... "Four Silver." A soft nod given, and her eyes returning to his once more, searching, that little nibble of her lower lip again as she waited for him to reply.
[2015/09/25 19:48] Rei Anundr Aldin: The price had him nod slowly, deciding he didn't want to haggle with her. He'd just give her the money. While he dug in to his pocket, he silently reminded himself how the seamstress had truly given him a huge break on his cloak compared to the stone! When his hand emerged from his pocket, he held several silvers, and two gold coins were mixed in the pile. Whatever he had been doing, it was appear profitable. He separated out five silver and offered it to her, meeting her eyes again. He liked her - it was evident in his eye. [2015/09/25 19:49] Rei Anundr Aldin: appearing**
[2015/09/25 19:53] Merialeth Windstar instantly regretted her cost, but - the stone itself was worth three, let along the reagents and as tight as things were right now, well... But she'd breathe again as he nodded, and dipped her eyes down to note the coins offered, taking four of them and leaving the fifth in his grip before pulling her hand back and meeting his gaze once more, the softly-spoken, "Thank you Sir..." offered upwards, "I hope it serves you well. When you have used it for the tenth time, you'll need to bring it back, I'll recharge it as needed. Should only take a few minutes." She'd add it sort of a last-moment thing, almost as if she'd forgotten, his look returned with another flush of color in her cheeks and a swallow before finally dropping her eyes away, the soft rustle sounding about her once more as she shifted on her toes nervously. "Is there anyting else I can do to help?" She'd inquire softly, not daring to glance back up.
3. A Lycan makes her way to the Auguriis, for temporary relief, but finds a different sort. [2015/09/27 10:20:56] Silver (Malice Rainfall)'s quick, hot breaths made little misty circles on the window panes as she peered inside the store she'd been directed to, and the teen's silver eyes darted around the little place for signs of life, and perhaps a sign of what she needed. She couldn't see anyone around, and so she rushed inside, near crashing through to door to start searching..
[2015/09/27 10:21:00] The Auguriis Magic and Oddities Shop whispers: As you walk into the Auguriis, you are hit with an estrangement of different scents that are spread across the store; multiple herbs and magical ingredients, the occasional love potion, old books and scrolls, leather. An overly energetic and perky blonde haired male, Damien, is currently attending the store. Organizing and cleaning to his hearts content! Those with a magical ability will be able to sense that this store has been warded against thieves. [Any and all attempts to damage or steal from this property should be directed to the owner or an Admin.]
[2015/09/27 10:23:05] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) heard the door slam open, her eyes flicking from the desk above and calling down "Something I can help you with, miss?" Taking in the appearance of the stranger as she rose to her feet and peered over the rail. Her head tipping first one way, then the other as she seemed to be in a bit of a rush.
[2015/09/27 10:28:06] Silver (Malice Rainfall) couldn't read, and so used her keen sense of smell to try and locate the herbs that she needed, though amongst the mingle of scents in this place, it made it a little more difficult to single one particular scent out. Silver physically jumped as a voice spoke out, and she swore in fright as she spun around to settle a wide gaze on her.."Fook me yer near gave me a damn heart attack." she panted, holding a hand to her chest to try and calm herself. But she was far from calm. Her skin was burning up, and formed a fine layer of cold sweat all over her shaking body. she hugged her arms quickly, and dropped her gaze.. "Nah....Nah i'll get out yer way." she shook her head and turned back toward the door.
[2015/09/27 10:31:52] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) furrowed her brows, the soft shake of her head as she murmured "You obviously needed something, I'd rather help you in person, than have the wards burn your arse for it later... what can I help you with?" Damien'd peer up at the frankness from Meri's lips as he stopped short in his cleaning, the soft snort on his breath, then added as he looked the girl over "Best you mind her..." then turned back to his work. Meri'd head down the stairs as he spoke, her soft hum on her breath, that calm green gaze darting over the young woman as she paused a few steps away and perused her more carefully, the sense of Magic in the air for those that could feel it.
[2015/09/27 10:39:41] Silver (Malice Rainfall) paused, still hugging her ribs tightly as though they might burst from her skin if she didn't hold them tightly enough. She did need help, and yes it was obvious, but she'd have been far more comfortable stealing what she needed than discussing it with strangers. Silver was not at all herself, she was clearly young, but the normally feisty teen wore a look of pain and fear that there was no use in trying to hide. Her eyes wandered over the woman, and the male before she pressed her back up against the door, hoping nobody else would come inside. She seemed to be struggling over her words, and her lips parted a few times to speak but she thought better of it until she could come up with a lie that sounded adequate enough to her in her mind.. "I were lookin fer tha'..bane stuff..ter protect mah tent from the wolves tha' live 'roun' here..Yer got any tha'?" her brows rose and a bead of sweat formed to roll down the side of her face, her torso tensing against a pain her face couldn't hide either.
[2015/09/27 10:46:04] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) may have been an Elf, but - she'd been on the Isle and around Garou far too long to miss signs, especially with a Blood Moon coming. Minor healing skills? Yeah - that helped too. Her gaze was still calm, but she took in the woman's demeanour, her brow lifting as she was asked for wolfsbane, the reasoning offered, well - perhaps it might have worked, were it not for the chills and fever and such. "I do... but I don't just hand it out to anyone, there has to be a good reason for it. Is that the -only- reason why you're asking, miss?"
[2015/09/27 10:52:20] Silver (Malice Rainfall) frowned deeply at the woman "I said tha' were why I were askin' an' I got some copper ter pay fer it. Weren't aware there'd be an interrogation with it ter.." her voice was a few tones darker, she struggled to keep her cool at the best of times, but today just wasn't a good day for that. "Are yer gonna give it ter me or no, I ent gonna stand' roun' answerin' yer questions, I ent got the time, but if I get mauled by the pack then I'll damn well haunt yer." she huffed, and silver eyes pinned wildly on the woman. Her breaths were growing more panicked as she stood there, and her fingers curled into her clammy palms to form fists that shook with the tension in them.
[2015/09/27 11:00:36] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) wasn't all that enthused with the idea of a upset female in her shop, especially one that was obviously having issues, but - if she wanted to poison herself with it, the only thing Meri could think of, then so be it. Even if it wouldn't do a damned thing about the moon shift. Meri'd turn on her toes, and glance over her shoulder, the soft rustle about her as she moved towards the loft. "You do realize all it will do is poison you, yes? It won't change a thing..." She hadn't said yes, but she hadn't said no... The question was, would the woman wait long enough to hear the full answer.
[2015/09/27 11:08:05] Silver (Malice Rainfall) growled as the woman saw through her lies, not that it was difficult given the state she was in "Aye I'm aware!" she'd yelled, and bones had snapped..A few ribs, and a few fingers, and Silver let out a cry in pain and slid down the door, cradling her ribs as she waited on the woman getting what she needed. Then came the tears, real tears that were usually reserved for times when there were no other people around her, her brother included. "I had an amulet...But it got lost...Now it jus' hurts the same as the beginnin'.. An' i cannet think straight neither, I ent able ter control nothin'..Least the bane migh' stop it from runnin'." she sobbed, spilling her desperate truth whilst trying not to throw up on the woman's floor.
[2015/09/27 11:15:29] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) snapped her eyes back as the sound of bones breaking sounded. Her eyes widening and the faint sigh on her breath as she realized what was amiss. "Nothing you do, can stop it, it's part of who you are, all you can do is try to let it come, and handle what happens afterwards. The wolfsbane, won't stop you from shifting, all it will do is make you sick..." she'd -almost- said sicker than a dog. Nice save there, Meri... The comment of an amulet made her lift her brows in surprise, then drop again though she'd continue up the stairs. "You don't have an alpha yet." It was more of a statement than a question, or why would she be -here-. "Maybe you should try to find the Singarti - they can help you..." At least to some degree at least. Meri'd dash a look over the rail again, perusing her once more, then turned towards the table at the back, starting to rummage through the various cubbies.
[2015/09/27 11:23:16] Silver (Malice Rainfall) closed her eyes tightly as she attempted to deal with the pain, though her spine was on the verge of snapping if she couldn't calm down. "No it ent! It ent part of who I am!.." she despised hearing that, she despised all talk of wolf business. "If the wolf's sick, the wolf can't hunt. Get me?" she seethed and gritted her teeth together. "I ent interested in alphas er singerties er whatever help yer gonna try ter suggest ter me, lady. I jus' want the fookin bane." she stated firmly, and it was clear that there would be absolutely no sway on that. Wolves simply terrified her, she loathed the lot of them, and her own. "Yer a mage, righ'? Yer tellin' me there ent nothin yer can do, huh? Can' make me a sleepin' draught, wha' bout' a chain I cannet break?..Yer got a rock hard 'nough ter knock me the fook out? Anythin'." she whined.
[2015/09/27 11:30:14] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) paused at the response, her fingers stilling, the assumption until then that the woman was a Garou, now a little more tentative than before. Meri'd turn again to peruse the woman once more, brows furrowing then "You weren't born that way were you?" then continued "Yes, I could put you to sleep, but do you have somewhere safe to be knocked out for? It only lasts so long, only twelve hours..." She'd turn back towards the table once more, instead of reaching for one cubby, started pulling down a pestle and mortar as well as some reagents, the soft soothing hum on her breath filling the air once more, the hints of Magic laced through it and her silent wish that the Alpha was around, at least long enough to soothe this girl before Meri could help her.
[2015/09/27 11:38:29] Silver (Malice Rainfall) tensed, and another bone snapped causing another sharp cry in agony..an arm this time. "Nuh I weren't fookin born this way!"..She was angry, frightened and in pain..Being calm and frindly just wasn't her strong suit right now. But the elf said she could put her to sleep, and despite the pain Silver laughed in relief.."..Please." No pain or worry for twelve hours sounded damn well delightful right now, and the thought of sleep calmed her mind enough to make her stop tensing and shaking for the moment..Her breathing was calming a little, but the pain still forced tears from her eyes.."Er..Aye I got a safe place." she lied again, just in case the woman would change her mind if the answer was no.
[2015/09/27 11:48:17] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) winced hearing the bones snap, the soft shake of her head again as she continued pulling ingredients to her, Meri's Song as much for the soothing sound as it was for the traces of Magic to help bind the potion. If it helped give the woman something to focus on, well that worked too. Her soft-spoken voice drifting over the rail as she started mashing berries, leaves, and a few specific things she'd add to help calm her til the sleepiness kicked in. "Talk to me, tell me about yourself, it'll help distract you... you must be new to Valesk?" then drifted back into the soft hum. She'd let the comment about a safe place go for now, but Meri'd keep it in the back of her mind as the scents from the natural reagents mixed and melded. Pulling down one of her potion bases, the bright green glass swirled and showing the sloshing of the contents, Meri'd uncork it, glance and sniff it a moment, then nodded to herself and took the ingredients and carefully scooped them into the fluid base. The Song on her lips [2015/09/27 11:48:17] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): getting a little louder, but not enough to dissuade the woman from speaking. Always something new in this place... She'd take a small stick, stirring then recorked the bottle and shook the contents before sniffing it again and heading her way down the stairs.
[2015/09/27 11:55:13] Silver (Malice Rainfall) kept her eyes closed lightly and one arm wrapped not so tightly around her ribs, simply trying not to move, or even think too much at all. The song was helping, and her panic attack was slowly subsiding until she could finally take long, deep breaths again..Being asked questions however, caused Silver's brow to crease gently in thought.. "Ent much to tell 'bout me really..But aye, my brother an' I jus' got here.." she answered in a quiet and pained voice... "Thank yer..fer helpin' me. Ent used ter many people helpin' me, jus' Reece.." she shrugged a shoulder and flinched.
[2015/09/27 12:02:26] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had made her way around the counter enough to watch the wince in her expression, a tip of her head as she studied the woman and nodded softly "There's always something to tell. Another time, however." The soft Song still playing through the air every time she stopped talking, noting that the woman seemed to had settled somewhat - maybe Music did soothe the savage beast? "I'm Meri. This is my place. I know it must be hard for you at the moment, but - I'd much rather you come talk to me next time, before you get this bad, hm?" Her brow raised and giving her a faint smile, She'd finally continue "I'm glad you have kin at least. That's a good thing." She'd make her way around to stand before her, "This will help calm you and then help you sleep. As I said, it will only last twelve hours. If you don't have somewhere safe to be for tomorrow, come back, or send your brother if you can't. I will do what I can, this... is not going to be the normal sort of moon, but - I can make you another potion, and [2015/09/27 12:02:26] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): we can work out an arrangement for repayment, alright?" She'd reach an hand out, not to offer the potion, but to help the girl to her feet. "I gave you my name, tell me yours?"
[2015/09/27 12:13:16] Silver (Malice Rainfall) opened her eyes to lift her gaze toward the elf as she returned, and she offered a slight nod at her words "Aye..Another time." she repeated, but Silver was an extremely private person, she didn't really talk to anyone but her brother. She nodded again and dropped her gaze, feeling slightly guilty that she'd planned on stealing from the woman's stock, and here she was helping her. The girl's brow rose as the elf spoke of the moon, not knowing what exactly she'd meant by what she'd said about it, though perhaps it was best that she just didn't know..they were all pretty much the same to her thus far. "Aye..we can do tha;.." Silver agreed, and studied the woman's hand as she reached to help her up, being that it was such an unusual thing for the girl. Gingerly, she reached her good arm up to take the offered hand, careful of the broken fingers however, and got to her feet with a grimace, muttering something about a blood curse..There was a pause when asked for her name too, but she was in a new place and [2015/09/27 12:13:16] Silver (Malice Rainfall): reasoned with herself to stop being so damn paranoid.."Silver.." she blinked awkwardly..."I..had the name before the..y'know." she mumbled and looked down, gesturing to the thick scars over her torso and face.
[2015/09/27 12:21:44] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded and offered a faint smile "I'll hold you to that." Even if it wasn't too personal, she wanted to talk. Meri was careful of the woman's grip, only supporting and letting Silver lift to her feet as she needed, her tongue pressed between her teeth, and the weight of the woman's form carefully braced against. Meri'd flick a glance over her briefly, then nodded "Silver, it's a pretty name." She'd caught the comment about a blood curse, the last little piece falling into place. "If those don't heal on their own... I know they should, but - if they don't, let me know that too, eh?" Meri was referring to the broken bones of course, not the scars that were obviously from the past. The healing was a little more hassle to work with, but if it helped soothe her mind and get a little bit of her trust, well - they'd see. Meri'd carefully turn Silver's hand over, if she could, and placed the bottle carefully atop her palm, though she'd wait til she'd taken grip of it before moving her hand away. "Be [2015/09/27 12:21:44] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): careful, alright?"
[2015/09/27 12:31:29] Silver (Malice Rainfall)'s lips managed the gentle curl of a smile in return.."Thank yer..Was my da tha' called me it.." she nodded, she'd liked it until it became a dangerous word to her, now she just found it amusing.. "They'll heal..after." she bobbed her head, assuming she'd still shift, even if she was asleep. The thought of it still made her stomach churn with nerves, but at least she wouldn't need to worry about rampaging, at least she hoped not. "All of em break." she frowned, and that was why it pissed her off so much when people had insisted she'd had a 'gift'..there was nothing pleasant about it. Her gaze fell on the bottle as it was placed in her palm, and she smiled gratefully with a firm nod in agreement "Aye, i'll try. Thank yer , Meri. I'll see yer in a couple days.." she gave a weak smile, and turned carefully to leave, clutching the bottle in her hands until she found a place she thought safe enough to sleep.
[2015/09/27 12:36:01] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nodded once more, finally letting the hum fade from her lips, honestly the irony of it hadn't hit her til just now. Her lips quirking up at the corners as she murmured "Alright, I'll see you then... If you can't come to see me, send your kin. I'll speak to him as well." And actually - was more than a little bit interested in this brother of hers. Perhaps if Silver was uncomfortable talking, her brother might shine some light on the situation. It was worth a shot. Regardless, she'd just watch Silver head out the door, a glance cast back at Damien, and a soft sigh on her breath as the woman disappeared from sight.
4. Helping Cedar Draw a Circle, and Going in a Few Circles Herself. [2015/10/05 16:53:11] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) sighed. "So yer no' goin' ta tell me? La." She frowned a moment, clearly dissatisfied with this. Then shrugged and said, "Hae ye no' asked tha bugger if he cares?" Rising, Cedar moved through the shared rooms then, making her way to the bedside table where she kept a few things laid out. She grabbed the spell tome she'd gotten from Meri and flipping it open, wandered back. "Has been my experience, tha' 'tis a'ways simpler if ye but ask the lad. No use in worritin' yerself ower somat as can easily be cleared up." Flashng Meri a smile, Cedar sat down beside her on the couch. A moment was taken to shift and settle, making sure she wasn't harming a single feather yet bringing her close enough to share the book. "Will ye help me then? I've tried meself tha patterns an' circles but I'm no' sure did I get them right. Though' it migh'nt be better did I see tha way ye drew them."
[2015/10/05 17:00:57] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) shifted her gaze upwards as the foot dropped to the floor, her eyes lifting then to watch Cedar step away and back, her lower lip tugged between her teeth. That was part of it, and yet "It's not all of it, not all of why I wonder, why I question it. I've not yet, but... he thinks it's difficult, but - it really isn't. He's easy to take care of, to want to. Even when I should be furious... " Her voice trailing off remembering the night before she'd made her way back to the shop. Her expression caught between wistful, worried and strangely, a hint of derision. "I just don't know if we can make it work. I do like him though." Had to have, for what she'd done, but... "No, I've not asked him outright." Her eyes shifting to the book as she settled it between them, her closer wing adjusted somewhat with a grateful smile to Cedar as she tried to tuck it back as best possible. "Of course, you know I said I would... " Fading off again then nodding softly, "I can do a circle for you. You'll be alright, [2015/10/05 17:00:57] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): yes? I promise not to trick you like you both did last night..." It still made her heart race, but at least she'd known it was good-natured when she heard Cailean's voice. Meri'd lift to her feet, then move over towards the open spot of the floor and consider a moment.
[2015/10/05 17:11:42] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) felt a little cross eyed when Meri's dam broke, all the words rushing out over each other. It was like where one thought ended another had begun and the fae couldn't make heads or tails of what it was the elf was trying to relay. So Cedar said nothing. You simply couldn't reply to a thing you did not understand. And Meri's words while heard were left without any sort of reply. Instead, there was a bemused expression that rested on Cedar's face. But when Meri agreed to show her the circle, a smile lifted and she rose as well, cradling the book, still open, along a forearm so she could look between the designs upon the pages to compare to what Meri was about to do. "Was guid ta see Cailean makin' merry. He's been sae filled wi' sorrow, e'er since tha day I'd met him. Kint help bu' think what it means I'm doin' somat well wi' him do he do so when there's sae much stressin' on tha isle."
[2015/10/05 17:27:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) glanced up and realized Cedar had... just not responded to a single thing. Her cheeks flushing bright red again as she cleared her throat and dropped her gaze to the floor. She'd nod softly and dash a bare smile "It was nice to see you both laugh." Though she'd been embarrassed and such at the time, it had been good to see the merriment. Another sigh on her breath and trying to pull things together, she'd bite down on her lower lip, then step into her area, pulling out some chalk and a few other items from the small chest in the corner, then carried them back as she spoke, a bit more haltingly, but trying one last time to convey how she felt before diving into the circle. "I like him. He tries to be good, brings me things that he thinks will make me happy, seems disappointed if I tell him that he doesn't need to. He's easy to take care of, and difficult at the same time, but - there are things, I just don't understand. About him, and other stuff. Anyway. No I've not asked him how he feels." [2015/10/05 17:27:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): Another deep breath and pushing it aside "So. the circle. " She slid down to her knees, perusing the area around her then nodded. "For you I can understand not wanting to work from the middle, but for me, it just seems easier." Easier to turn, to keep her wings up and out of the way, so she'd start describing the lines and symbols as she went along. Her voice somewhat subdued now as she spoke "It was much different, when I did this before... Goddess - so much has changed." The words breaking off and as her eyes flicked up to Cedar, reading her expression then back down as she hummed through each symbol, drawing them slow, painstakingly as if every little bit of color on the floor, could mean her life. And well, it had. Her eyes starting to flutter closed as she often did with her casting only to flash back open and remember it was the circle that she couldn't do that with. Had to watch every bit. "See here, this one's always been hard, because it turned -this- way, not that..." a glance towards [2015/10/05 17:27:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): the book and nodding, "That next page, see the top right corner... There's two ways to draw it, I use the second..." then shifted her eyes back to her work, continuing again with that soft hum. TO her eyes, the Magic glowed where it had been placed, "When you attune yourself to the circle, for me - I can -see- it, see where it's missing a piece, where I need to go back and draw again..."
[2015/10/05 17:38:05] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) mulled over that. Lips pursed and body shifted, Cedar thought over Meri's attempt to clarify while she watched the way she drew her patterns and designs. "Men like ta feel as though they be needed. Ye mun let 'im ken that he is, aye? When they be courtin', it sae often is tha trinkets an' baubles as they gi' ye that does it. Fer ye dint yet live in their home wi' them able ta provide." She trailed off, leaned forward and looked at the place where Meri spoke of always needing a reminder. Then she turned the page in the tome she held at the elf's behest and considered both the patterns given, comparing the first to the second. "Why tha second?" she asked, then looked back down to Meri's circle. She herself could not see the magic - but then she didn't try. Magic was a thing more often felt by Cedar, not seen. She could always look for it of course, but too often that sort of searching lead to her seeing spectres and she hadn't any desire to see them when she was about to do a summon. "Migh'nt be that tha [2015/10/05 17:38:05] (no name) lad wishes ta impress upon ye wi' a gift as ye'll find o' such value that ye'll no' hae it be a thing ye e'en think to say - that he doesna need ta. If'n ye ken that it makes him sad ta say it, then why do ye?"
[2015/10/05 17:50:44] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) furrowed her brows, her hum fading but still at the back of her throat, considering what Cedar had said. "I did thank him for what he'd done, but... I know how difficult it is to get things right now. He brought me food, rations from the Wardens, but he didn't need to. Of all people, I felt guilty that I ..." trailing off hoping Cedar would understand that part, then continued softer than before as her fingers trailed over the symbols she'd drawn adding another layer, the soft lilting voice almost Singing her words to feel the Magic bounce back at her as she answered Cedar. "I took what he brought me, and I fed us both, a few nights.. gave him shelter when he asked, and I know he was grateful... I... I suppose it's that I've been on my own too long, it's... difficult, to change that?" The question about the two symbols pulling her out of her thoughts as scattered as they were and she'd flick a glance up "Oh, It's a regional thing. The long-standing feud between Jomo'kri Mages and Faludron... [2015/10/05 17:50:44] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): The first was Jomor'kri's... the second, the way I was raised in Faludron... I suppose they work the same?" It honestly had never occurred to her to try the other. Imprints. Cedar's question put her back on her heels, brows furrowed once more as she finished the circle, her eyes sweeping about it and testing with that soft hum on the air again. A faded hint here, accentuated and reinforced til the lines were perfect, then Meri'd get to her feet and carefully step -over- the lines as they faded to her. Her deep intake of breath, then blown out between her teeth as she glanced over to Cedar, for once, without a single word to say herself. How did you reply to something you didn't understand?
[2015/10/05 17:58:47] (no name) "Ahh," she replied, head bobbing as she looked over the two choices for the pattern in that place of the circle. It would be a matter of her own preference then, or what seemed easier to undertake. She noted that, just as she did for the other spot Meri had pointed out as counter-intuitive to the patterns, and when Meri rose and left the circle Cedar turned and set her gaze to it on the floor. "Will be linin' mine wi' salt, aye?" she said abstractedly as she looked Meri's circle over. "Tha' way I kint be enterin' in nor it wi'out. Seems safest tha' way. Leastwise until I be certain tha' the spell's set right." And if she noticed that Meri was without words to reply this time, she did nothing to bring attention to it.
[2015/10/05 18:04:41] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) nods "If it was a 'true' circle, there'd be salt and double-lined... but since it was just the patterns, well - I didn't want to waste it..." Chalk was easy enough to find, and wipe away, but salt was too precious to waste in practice, at least for Meri. "And yes, I can totally understand why you would do such..." She'd nod in agreement, the tip of her head one way, then the other as she looked at it once last tine before dashing another slight smile over at Cedar and carefully rubbing her foot through it to break the lines, the Magic fading and going quiet in her gaze, then continued about, marking out the rest of the circle til it was just a faint shimmer on the dark floor. "Was there anything else you wondered about? Or that I could offer by chance?" Her head tilting to Cedar and perusing her features, she'd gotten used to the total silence, but there were other thigns that still intrigued Meri about her, though she was too polite to ask. Perhaps another day.
[2015/10/05 18:11:16] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland) nodded, making another note about the 'double-lined'. She hadn't made hers so when she'd practiced but she just might do so now. When Meri kicked through her chalk, distorting and then wiping away the designs, Cedar grinned a bit - always fun to make a mess, eh? - then looked to the pages of the tome. "Dinna think so. Wuid be nice, a'course, ta watch another cast tha spell, bu' ... mun make do as i'tis." Closing the tome, Cedar headed back to where she and Cailean slept. To the bedside table in fact, laying the tome to rest upon it as she had done whenever she wasn't studying. "D'ye think," the fae began, turning and heading back, "tha' ye can say specific which ye wish ta summon an' ta bind? If there were a spectre as was friendly like ta me, I mean? One I kent wuidna mind a'tall ta be aidin'?"
[2015/10/05 2015/10/05 18:22] Merialeth Windstar dashed a look up and chuckled, indeed, the destroying of the circle was almost carthartic at times... the knowledge that you could take away so easily what you'd wrought, though it also reminded her how simple it would for another as well. Meri sort of pausse for a moment, the remembrance flashing over her features as she shook her head briefly as murmured "I'm sure you'll do fine..." And as she asked about certain types, Meri's brows furrowed deeper, the moment's contemplation making her dig her teeth into her lower lip. A flash of memory then "I know you can call to a type... but - whether that is who answers, or what tries to stay, well... Perhaps you might have a better luck than some, with who you are." That bright green gaze flicking over again, her faint smile lighting her features. "I couldn't quite say, Cedar."
[2015/10/05 2015/10/05 18:33] Little Tree (Cedar Ashland): /me took Meri's reassuring and encouraging words with another nod. It helped a bit, to know the elf thought she'd manage well, for well was all that could suffice. Yet she herself was not quite so certain and likely would not try the spell just yet. She nodded again though, then lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "Weel, can do nothin' save try. Will see how i'tall turns ou' in tha end." Smiling a bit, she added, "Thanks fer aidin' me wi' it though, Meri. Did me guid, do think, ta see how another'd lay their circle, aye?" A flicker of her glance to the door and the fae shifted from one foot to the other. "Migh' head out though. I've a few thin's as need doin' afore it gets too dark."
[2015/10/05 18:37] Merialeth Windstar nodded, her own bashful smile as she too had sidled towards the exi. Not on Cedar's part by any stretch, but - the village, the inn, they both felt so closed in, and though truth be tod the room was larger than likely two of her house. It wasn't home. She was very grateful to Cedar, for everything, but sometimes she just needed her own space. "Be safe please Cedar, I'll see you later on..." It wasn't quite a 'I'll be here tonight' and - it wasn't quite -not-. The hint of color in her cheeks, and the words from earlier taken to heart, and a conversation needed to be had. If there was even someone there to have it with. "Until then..." offered softly, then turning towards the door and slipping out with the soft hum on her breath, realizing belatedly that her wings were already showing and she hadn't needed to do so before leaping into the air and flying away.
5. A Lesson in Auras and Reading Enchantments 2015/10/09 14:50] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles as she walks up and snaps her finger at the door, which opens up before her, then closes behind. she grins at Meri behind the counter, "Good afternoon Merri, I hope your day has proved a beneficial one" she says, still holding the sword on her shoulder like a parasol. [2015/10/09 14:51] The Auguriis Magic and Oddities Shop: As you walk into the Auguriis, you are hit with an estrangement of different scents that are spread across the store; multiple herbs and magical ingredients, the occasional love potion, old books and scrolls, leather. An overly energetic and perky blonde haired male, Damien, is currently attending the store. Organizing and cleaning to his hearts content! Those with a magical ability will be able to sense that this store has been warded against thieves. [Any and all attempts to damage or steal from this property should be directed to the owner or an Admin.] [2015/10/09 14:52] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me breathed in sharply before gripping the door handle and stepping inside the Magic Shop, remembering the last time he'd done so and managed to walk in a peak Meri-scream [2015/10/09 14:54] Merialeth Windstar glanced up at the sound of the door, her eyes flicking about, then down as she heard Crystiel's voice. Moving around the far side of the counter, she'd offer a smile and nod consideringly "It's gone well so far thank you, and yourself?" Her gaze flicking aside as Garrett arrives on her heels and offers another soft chuckle "Good afternoon," the remembrance of the last time she'd seen him as well flitting unwittingly through her mind. "What can I do for you?" Her eyes flicking between them both with a murmur of "I'll be right with you..." to Garrett. [2015/10/09 14:59] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods, "Its been an excellent day..I feel the end of the blight on the horizon...which means soon Our Forest will be returned to us...much to be happy about....as for my visit? I was hoping to get the enchantments on this sword Identified...and Possibly work on Reading Auras....if you have the time...both I asume will take a bit of time I guess...so maybe this fine gentlemen here has something quick?...if so I can wait." she says with a huge grin and a flourish of her hand to Garrett. [2015/10/09 15:05] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me looked down to Crystiel and raised his eyebrows, recalling her from the description provided to him by The Prophet. 'A wee one with a thorn wielded in her hand and hair as bright as platinum deposited by the Paragons themselves.' He offered a smile to her before speaking to her, "We've almost finished your sheath, We'll be putting the final stitches on it this evening..." He followed up by turning his head towards Meri and raising his eyebrows as he waited to see which of the two Meri wanted to tackle first [2015/10/09 15:10] Merialeth Windstar nodded in understanding, having figured that she might be returning for that, her gaze shifting from the diminutive Fae up to the taller man with a tip of her head and soft chuckle on her breath, though knowing their last conversation, it likely wouldn't be quick either... The slight nod then dipping her gaze back to Crystiel offered "Actually yours is the swifter of the two. I can look at that..." nodding her head at the sword, "... and give you a scroll to study over, then once you've done that we can discuss more about aura and enchantments, how's that?" She'd turn her gaze to Garrett "If you don't mind waiting just a little bit, then we can work on your books?" [2015/10/09 15:17] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles at garrett and offers a small bow, "Excellent, Im really tired of carrying this thing around by hand, but I dare not let it out of my sight either...I'll stop by tomorrow and see if its finished in time" she says with a Grin and then looks to Meri, "alright, ...well here you go...guess we can start with this thing," she says and offers the sword, hilt first. it was about 8" long, shorter then a Dagger, but longer then a pen knife. it was of High quality and Sylvan made. the Blade had green tinted etchings that gave it the look of a grass blade and it glowed with Enchantment where her fingers touched the blade. [2015/10/09 15:25] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me nodded towards Meri to give his blessing to go ahead and work with Crystiel. He smiled as the fae explained how annoyed she was to have to keep hold of it in such an awkward way, "I can only imagine...". As Crystiel offered the blade to Meri for her to examine, he retreated to a corner....of the circular room. That's right. He's just that rad. Or he just stepped to the side of the door to look at his enchanted book. Really, one of these two stories is awesome, you just have to decide which universe you want to believe in. [2015/10/09 15:27] Vincent Seradin: ((feel free to skip over me in the meantime, no reason for you to have to wait for my non-input on the matters, ^.^)) [2015/10/09 15:29] Merialeth Windstar crouched down to Crystiel's height, the smile on her lips as she perused the sword. "It's quite pretty and such a delicate blade..." though she wouldn't take it, didn't need to... One hand hovering over it as her eyes closed, the slight grin on her lips as Garrett moved back before she'd fall into her Casting. The soft lilting hum on her breath that grew and expanded into Song, the traceries over the blade seeming to glow as Meri's Magic called forth the secrets of the blade. Her smile warming, brows lifting somewhat as she grinned a little, then finally settled back on her heels again and perused Crystiel with a smile. "That's quite the little blade there you've got..." [2015/10/09 15:33] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles a she watches the magic dance around the sword, she adjusts it to hold it out flat for Meri with both hands as she peruses the enchantments on it, "It is a very pretty blade, can't say Im very fond of the Idea behind it....but it is magical, and came to me by mysterious means...so there has to be more to it..Im guessing....what do you see?" she says with a smile, but her eyes are like saucers...like a child who sees a plate of cookies. [2015/10/09 15:42] Merialeth Windstar nodded towards the sword, her wings restless about her before fluffing and settling to her back "That - will allow you, one time per day... to hit your target without fail. Once you have done so, it will disappear, only to return the next morning, exactly where you expect it to be, so make your thrusts count." She'd lift to her feet again, give an impish grin and turn to Damien who'd been working in the corner. A softly-spoken "Go run upstairs, the scroll case, should be third from the top, far right, the one about reading auras, bring me it posthaste..." he'd nod and slip through the heavy door behind the counter, the sound of his footsteps pattering off in the distance. "He'll have that scroll for you in just a moment. The scroll is 20 coppers..." a moment's pause then "... another ten for the reading, this time, since you're planning on learning it yourself." [2015/10/09 15:55] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods, "Thank you, interesting...for when I really need to hit something I guess....but then Id be defenseless....Ahhh ha!!!..have a paper cut!!!! ....hehe... thank you." she would say as she looks over the blade, wondering how in the world she could use it....or maybe to give it away to one of her guards...when she gets some guards anyways. then she smiles as a scroll is handed to her, "Oh...you already sold me this scroll...I was hopping on lessons...but heres the 10 for the reading" she says a she pulls out a pouch from her satchel and dumps out some copper coins that are really tiny...then she snaps her fingers, causing the coins to grow to full size as they float over to Meri. [2015/10/09 15:58] Merialeth Windstar blinked a bit, then chuckles remembering the trick "Ah, indeed - so much has gone on lately... of course.." she'd take the coins with a murmur of thanks, turning to tell Damien to never mind. He'd stop short as he came out of the door, give Meri a lift of his brow then laugh briefly and turn to take it back upstairs. Meri's soft laughter following him as she give a wry smile then turns back to Crystiel "Of course, sorry about that. Sadly the Goddess didn't make us perfect, but we're trying." grins [2015/10/09 16:06] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods as she places the blade across her shoulders like a parasol once again, "Ok, no problemo, a lot are on our minds lately...as well as malnurishment...it can happen to us all...so about those lessons, would that take a bit..you can help this man here first...if you wish...I'll just read through the scroll I have while you work with him...if you would like" she says with a smile and pulls out the scroll with her free hand. [2015/10/09 16:15] Merialeth Windstar flicked a glance up at him again, the faint smile on her lips as she murmured "I do apologize for the delay..." then shifted back to Crystiel "Have you had the chance to peruse that at all yourself yet? I usually suggest such before coming in for a lesson, but yes I can work with him for a bit on his requirements while you peruse that..." Her gaze shifting once more to him as she beckoned him forward "Have you had the opportunity to prepare the books as you wanted them, or were there still more questions?" [2015/10/09 16:19] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods, "I read through them before I slept that first night, but havn't attempted it yet.....but please take your time, may I slip into the back room for a seat while I wait?" she says with a Grin that splits her face almost in half. [2015/10/09 16:25] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me perked up from his reading at the sound of someone referring to him, and he looked between the two as he tried to catch up to speed with the conversation. At Meri's question, he stepped forward to her, careful to mind where Crystiel was in regards to his feet, and spoke as he did, "I have ideas in mind, yes. But I suspect you may need to explain what, precisely, I should be looking for in regards to materials..." He reached out to hand her the tome, "As I recall, neither of us is fully aware of the full extent of the enchantments upon this item." [2015/10/09 16:28] The Auguriis Magic and Oddities Shop: As you walk into the Auguriis, you are hit with an estrangement of different scents that are spread across the store; multiple herbs and magical ingredients, the occasional love potion, old books and scrolls, leather. An overly energetic and perky blonde haired male, Damien, is currently attending the store. Organizing and cleaning to his hearts content! Those with a magical ability will be able to sense that this store has been warded against thieves. [Any and all attempts to damage or steal from this property should be directed to the owner or an Admin.] [2015/10/09 16:32] Merialeth Windstar motioned towards the hanging chair with a slight chuckle "You can sit here, that's fine..." the chairs in back having been removed already and unable to pull out more, plus there were too many things still in limbo back there to let most go running about. Meri'd move out of the way and return her attention to Garrett, taking the book as he offered it, her eyes flicking to the cover and perusing it carefully. "Well, we can certainly take a look and see what we find." Her eyes fluttering closed again, the soft Song on her breath as she held her other hand over the top of it, letting the Magic suffuse the air. Her soft trilling descant and the sense of Magic rising as it traced around the edges. Her head tilting in thought, another soft burst of Music then nodd ing softly, finally opened her eyes and gave him a bit of a grin. "I can recreate it yes... I'll need to work up a list of ingredients, some I have, some I'll need you to obtain for me as well as the books themselves. Then we can work on creating more copies." [2015/10/09 16:36] Aden -Ze Kaizer- Spiritor enters the magic shop, taking a look around. His gaze first sweeps over the blonde male who seems too busy working here to be the one he seeks. He then looks at the winged woman and the pixie before allowing his gaze to settle on the armed man. That would probably be who he was looking for. "Garrett ?" he inquires with a calm tone fo voice, his heavily scarred elven ears peeking out beneath the blonde hair. He isn't sure if he has the right person, and thus he falls silent for a moment, giving the others present a nod of his head in greeting. [2015/10/09 16:43] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles as she makes her way around the counter and climbs up the hanging chair...its take her a few tries, but she manages to make it up. climbing up to the cushions she lays out and opens the scroll, and reads through it again...she loves learning new things and this one will help her in many ways...especially when it comes to feeling for enchantments, that encroach in her Forest in the future...perhaps she will finish before the shadows are gone from their and get an idea on how to combat it.. [2015/10/09 16:43] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me could feel the rising of the hairs upon his skin at the casting of Meri's magic, but that was as far as he senses seemed to be able to inform him that magic was being cast. He crossed his arms and watched, once again subtlety reminded of his past and a deep frown forming on his face, a darker frown than pure thought would yield. But, as she completed the ritual and said that she would indeed be able to recreate the magic of book, he nodded towards her and let a small smile break into his face, "Excellent." Before he could emphasize that he was ready to accept her list of needs, the door behind him opened and in walked a very heavily armed fellow who queried about his person. He remained silent for a moment as he considered what he'd done that day that might have upset someone, and drawing a blank on any particularly egregious offenses, finally lifted his head slightly, a mild confusion present in his voice, "Yes?" [2015/10/09 16:47] Merialeth Windstar 's gaze flicked over at the new arrival's entrance, the polite dip of her head offered in reply, though as he inquires of Garrett, her brow can't help but lift slightly in surprise. Usually it wasn't the customers that had people looking for them... Her bright green gaze flicking between the two men, that sense of heightened awareness as the soft hum of Magic teased at the corners of their ears, no particular casting, just the readiness as she clasped the book to her and watched between them both. "Welcome to the Auguriis Sir... if there's something you're in need of, please do let me know." [2015/10/09 16:50] Aden -Ze Kaizer- Spiritor bows his head towards Garrett in the fashion of a warrior giving respect to another skilled combatant, simply expressing his respect for how the man dealt with the situation in a similar fashion as Kylar would have done it. His full plate armor only missed the helmet at his belt for completion and the bow, mask, daggers and sword made it rather clear that he was ready for combat. Quiver seemed to be missing a few arrows even. "A friend of yours has asked me to escort you to them. I hope I am not intruding on any important business ?" his tone calm and polite, no hint of hostility towards anyone in the room. Kylar flicks his gaze towards Merialeth in an instant when he feels the intensity of magic heightening in the room and he only regards her preparations with the crease of a brow, a look that says 'What, do I look that dangerous ?'. He holds that look for a moment before his expression relaxes again "I am simply here because a guard at the keep told me I could find Garrett here. Apologies once again if [2015/10/09 16:50] Aden -Ze Kaizer- Spiritor: I caused any disturbance. And who ever is getting ready to cast something, please stop, it's grating on my senses." he means, scratching his ears as he had very clearly picked up on that increased readiness. How he did that ? Well, that would remain his secret for the time being. [2015/10/09 16:54] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me sets the sword to the side of her leaned up against the side of the chair so she could see it. She already knew the enchantment on it, having been told recently by Meri.....that should give her some insight...in the right direction...at least once she is able to "see" the aura...it may help her to identify it....she gets to the spot where it explains the catalyst for the spell...she translates it into a word...and focuses on her vision...she tests the word in a whisper, but nothing happens.....then a couple candles on the desk flare up and then go out..."Woops...ahh wrong pronunciation...sorry" she says and then smiles at the man who entered, "might be me...Im just practicing" [2015/10/09 17:00] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me reached out to take his book back if Meri would allow him, and then frowned in thought as the armored man mentioned that he was here to escort him on behalf of a 'friend'. He perked a brow, internally considering how many people he could consider as a friend, and how many had clout for this sort of request. But eventually, he came to some sort of conclusion and nodded towards the armored man, "Very well then. Lead on." He would turn his head back to Meri and offer a smile to her, "Just send a message with the materials to the Keep. They will ensure it gets to me." It wasn't as if the request he was making was particularly strange or potent. Secrecy was not necessary, and perhaps even counterproductive, in this case. [2015/10/09 17:04] Merialeth Windstar 's careful gaze played over the man's form, her head tipping aside slightly as she took him in. The message delivered brought a flick of the brow in silent inquiry, her eyes darting over towards Garrett and back. The man's look met with a quirk of her lips and soft burst of laughter that ensues as the sense of Magic fades from the room, only the quiescent mass of random items about belying the hint of Talent. She'd watch as he seemed to be physically affected, that tidbit of information noted as she stored it away, then dipped her head politely and flicked a glance back at Crystiel as she was practicing. The candles snuffed brings another soft chuckle to her breath, the quick trill of Magic as the cantrip sets them aflame again and she turns back to Garett once more. "Sounds like you're being paged." of course releasing the book into his grip and offered another dip of her head as she murmurs with those soft musical tones. "Never a worry, I'll get that list to you, just let me know what you might have trouble with getting." Food of course was in short supply, but material items such as these, shouldn [2015/10/09 17:05] Merialeth Windstar shouldn't be so difficult. "Safe travels to you..." she'd offer to both men and wait until they'd stepped away to turn her gaze back to Crystiel. [2015/10/09 17:07] Aden -Ze Kaizer- Spiritor cants his head lightly and gives a nod of his head in return to Garretts response. Then he gave a nod towards the two women as well, each given the polite farewell in turn. He even gave a nod to the NPC male before turning towards leaving, opening the door with a calm push of his hand. "I am sorry about the way I asked, but I am not very familiar with social customs I am afraid." he says to the man as he leads him away from the magic shop. He does spot the bite marks at the neck and taps his finger against his own. "She is quite greedy, isn't she?" he remarks with a soft laugh, yet his eyes narrow slightly, wondering if he nailed it or missed. [2015/10/09 17:10] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me goes back over the scroll she was reading and, reads through the catalyst again....and sees her mistake...she accented the wrong vowel...."ahhh there we go" she says to herself and then whispers the new and inproved word of power....immediately she covers her eyes, "Ahhhhh....colors.....too bright!" she was blinded by a wash of rainbow colors, like drops of lamp oil in a puddle of water, but brighter...she doesn't see the two leave, "Ahhh that smarts....." [2015/10/09 17:15] Merialeth Windstar flicked a glance over as the two men left, the comment about greediness and the other man's hand tapping at... were those bite marks?? Meri'd stop, blink a moment, tip her head then furrow her brow before shifting her gaze back to Crystiel at her exclamation... the soft chuckle on her breath "Try it like this..." then she chants out the piece that Crystiel was trying to employ... the timbre perhaps a little different and the intonation clearer... "You'll get there..." [2015/10/09 17:22] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me sits back with eyes the size of saucers, "yeah, I'll try that as soon as this feeling goes away...I havnt seen this many colors since I ate that mushroom a friend of mine handed me when I was younger" she says with a smile a she leans back....the colors already starting to fade, and outlines of things and Meri are starting to come back into Focus. her eyes moving about a she follows the blotted colors as they go through her vision, "whats the story on the book? if you don't mind me asking....it seems strong..I could feel its magic from across the room....you dont have to awnser, just passing time till my visions clears," she says with a Huge grin as Purple floods her vision, but at least she could see now....just everything was a shade of purple, red and blue. [2015/10/09 17:27] Merialeth Windstar tips her head, the soft purr of bemusement in her voice as she grins a little watching the little Fae. "I'll take your word for it..." she'd offer dryly, watching her quietly as she seemed to have some sort of reaction. "Does this happen to you often when you're practicing?" She'd inquire quietly then motion towards the door and the long-gone figures. "Oh, it's just an enchantment to weather-proof and protect the contents." [2015/10/09 17:40] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me shrugs with a smile as normal colors begin to fade in, the effect wearing off, "Usually at least until I get the invocation right, one wrong syllable and who knows what happens.....its more chaotic with us Fae, as we don;t just know Magic...we are Magic, more so then other races anyways, its why I could feel the book, seemed a very hush hush attitude, for just a weather-proofing enchantment.....you seemed a little tense as if the man who came in was gonna steal it...but....never mind about that, im sure it isnt any of my business...I think im ready..." she says and then goes over the catalyst again and rememebers what Meri said about its Connotation...and whispers the word in test again. Colors spread through her vision once again...but more focused...objects around the room glow...some potions on the shelf glowed green...others red, purple, orange....there was even one that "glowed" black...hidden on the bottom shelf in the corner, "Ahhhh that seems to work.....I see the auras I think, but I have no idea [2015/10/09 17:40] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me what they mean..." she says and then the colors fade...it was only a test so she didnt give it much force to stay going forr long. [2015/10/09 17:46] Merialeth Windstar chuckles again as she seems to have colored herself once more, the tip of her head as she listens then just nods "You'll have to take a little time, feel them out, it's not just the aura itself you can see, but if there's any spells on the item, or sometimes how it works. You don't always get the same answer every time, it might be different components that come to you. But each additional bit of information will pull a bit more of your Magic from you - so guard it carefully..." [2015/10/09 17:52] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods, "that makes sense...just practice makes perfect...I already know what the swords enchantment is...so if I was to examine it..I should be able to recognize that or similar effects, on other things..yes, so its just a matter of knowing what each Aura means...some had other colors mixed in with a main color, that might be the spell used, but I don't know how to tell them apart" [2015/10/09 17:54] Merialeth Windstar nodded "Once you master the spell, it will tell you, the colors will make sense and the enchantments will speak to you - tell you what's inherent in each item. It's just a matter of working your way through it." nodding resolutely "The spells you're familiar with will come easiest, the others may take a little more time." [2015/10/09 18:02] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me nods and thinks, "so..should I cast a spell I know and then read its aura? till it comes naturally to me...I think I can do that....lets see here....pehaps just a cantrip...." she says and thinks up of one as she snaps her finger....a Glow appears in the center of the room, a simple light spell, a ball of white light....she feeds it a little magic and then ties off the weave, it should stay for a few minutes...enough time to try her hand at "reading" it. [2015/10/09 18:14] Merialeth Windstar nods "That would be another way to go about it as far as testing yes... but a lot you will just learn as you go along. Part of the joys of Magic..." the soft chuckle on her breath as she lifts her eyes to peruse the globe for a moment, an impish grin lighting her features, though she'd behave and just nod "You're getting it, the more practice the better. Now however, I need to start working on a reagents list... I look forward to seeing you again soon, Crystiel." [2015/10/09 18:18] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me focuses on the new spell, centered on her vision and whispers the word of power once again, but gives it a bit more strength then she did previously. colors swirl in her visions once again and then spreads out and settles on the objects around the room. she focuses her vision on the Ball of white, and sees another glow around it..also white....perhaps this wasn't the best spell to start off with as it kinda blends in with the effect its self...but she could see other colors mixed into the aura...in fact there was a bluish knot on one side."ok...I see the aura...there is a bluish knot on one side of the white Aura,...is that where I tied it off at?..I think so...Light magic, so it shows up white....go figure....but its not really telling me anything I don't already know" she would say and then releases the magic on her eyes and smiles at Meri, "yes...you have given me much to think on...I'll keep practicing over the next week...I may come back later for some fine tuning if I run into issues...thank you for [2015/10/09 18:18] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me your time" she says with a smile, a she slides off the chair and hefts the sword back on her shoulder. the ball of light still glows, but she has no control over it cause she tied it off...but it should fade away soon. [2015/10/09 18:23] Merialeth Windstar nodded once more, smiling as she watches the Fae slip down and hoist her sword. "Good luck with your new blade there, that's quite the catch... I'll be around if I'm needed - Good night, Crystiel." She'd offer a warm smile watching her as she went then tipped her head at the globe of light, a soft trill of her own as she sent it up higher out of the way so it wasn't so bright on her eyes, then headed for the back room to work on her list. [2015/10/09 18:25] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles and nods, "Good night Meri" she would say and then tips her head in her direction before heading out, with a snap of her fingers that opens the door before her...and then closes behind her.
6. Where Meri does another run of the daily seed-growing for the Rations for the inhabitants of the Isle while Cedar is gone, first the Infirmary, then the Keep, then their own small portion for Cedar, Cailean and herself. At the Infirmary: [2015/10/10 10:21] Merialeth Windstar made her way into the Infirmary, her steps practiced and the soft trill of music and Magic in the air. Making her way over towards the herb garden, Meri'd lift one hand to the crystal pendant, the other seeking out the seeds that had been planted and were waiting to be grown. Meri's eyes falling shut as she pulled the Magic to her, calling upon the spell imbued within the crystal as the first trill of Song passed her lips. Her chin tipping downwards, asking, calling for the quiescent seeds to make their appearance and grow. [2015/10/10 10:24] Merialeth Windstar could feel the spark of like calling to like as the Song continued, Meri's soft voice still carrying the tune that darted and danced in the air. The apprentice healers in the far corner watching obviously hadn't seen a Singer before and Meri could feel the weight of their gaze on her but she didn't let it distract her. The Song grew in volume and pitch as she continued to call forth the Magic of Nature instilling the strength and rapid growth into the tiny seedlings, knowing that they would be used for good. [2015/10/10 10:29] Merialeth Windstar heard the quiet whispers, the occasional word or two caught but she'd retain her focus knowing that they treasured what she was providing too much to risk damaging the chance. Her wings tugging tighter to her, the Magic reaching it's peak as the rush filled and flowed through her, part of her spark gone into the plants as they grew within moments to their full size. Meri'd sag slightly against the chair behind her, watching the seeds sprout and expand, and offered a soft sigh of relief. "One down, three to go..." murmured softly, then turned on her toes and padded out of the Infirmary to head to the Keep.
At the Keep: [2015/10/10 10:41] Merialeth Windstar gave a brief smile and chuckle as she landed in the yard of the Keep, her bemusement as she watched the guards on the wall just sort of blink as she padded her way towards the doors. Obviously it was a newer one on duty as she passed within and murmured quiet greetings to those she passed. The bag at her side was reached into, the seeds brought out from their hiding place and settled into the barrels and pots about the area. Her one hand again on the pendant, her other hovering over the planters nearest her as she started Singing again. The music much like before calling pleading, asking for the seeds to answer her and bloom. [2015/10/10 10:44] Various types of vegetables, even some small fruits, Meri tilled what she could and called it forth with the Song rising on her breath, knowing that the Isle depended on these things to feed her people, and she wouldn't let them down. Meri's Song grew and blossomed the way she called upon the seeds, her soft descant rising and falling as she pulled the Magic from her and spread it across the plants just waiting to spring forth. [2015/10/10 10:47] Merialeth Windstar was worried that she hadn't seen or heard from Cedar the last couple of days, only Viveka's vision offering any reasoning for the disappearance, but Meri'd continue the work the Fae had started. Until this blight was gone, there was nothing else she could do. The rush of Magic coming to completion sent the thrill through her once more, both exhilarating and tiring at the same time. Her hands slipping to grip at the edge of the planter before her as she caught her breath watching the seeds burst into form and function, growing larger by the second until they were at full size and ripening, then headed upstairs to do the second portion within the Keep.
In the Room: [2015/10/10 11:11] Merialeth Windstar made her way up to the tavern rooms, her eyes flicking over to see if Cailean was about. Her brows furrowing as she sighed softly to realize he must be about or elsewhere, then padded over to where the small planters were for their portion. A deep breath taken in, held, and let out in a rush as she turned on her toes to pluck up the small flask of berry juice she'd left at the room to wet her mouth, then set it down beside her and launched into the spell one more time for the day. Her eyes fluttering shut, the soft call on her breath as she went through the motions once more. Her voice strained, calling to the seeds in their planters and coaxing them forth. Her hands lightly gripping the edge of the table as she continued her spell, focusing her energy on the seeds' growing. [2015/10/10 11:13] Merialeth Windstar felt the Magic answer her call as before, it was both easier and harder as the day went on, easier to bring forth the Song she knew so well, but harder to draw from within for that spark of Magic to take hold and root. But she'd not give up this easily, letting herself be lulled into the beauty of the awakening. [2015/10/10 11:17] Merialeth Windstar opened her eyes as the Magic rushed through her and scattered across the seeds, the softly glowing mixture springing to life as she felt the Magic sink in and grip the tiny pods. The moment's awe as every time, as the seeds became sprouts that poked above the dirt, became plants then unfurled and bloomed and came to ripeness, with a soft shuddering sigh from Meri's lips that made her want to just flop on the bed and sleep... "Done... for today."
7. The Idani Returns with a Trinket: Unlike before with Shayra, she returns and has something else for Meri to examine. 2015/10/10 14:25] Nixie walked carefully up the hill, making her way towards the magic shop for the second time that day she would enter quietly enough, holding the door open for the one trailing behind her. [2015/10/10 14:27] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident): /me strode forward and caught the door allowing the Idani to continue on. His eyes studied the room as he entered turning is a slow circle taking everything in as he spun. [2015/10/10 14:29] Merialeth Windstar flicked a glance up from her own studying, her head tilting and a smile offered as the Mer returned with another. Dipping a polite nod, Meri'd murmur a quiet "Welcome back, and welcome, was there something else I can help you with?" Knowing at least full well that the scroll wouldn't be absorbed quite so quickly... [2015/10/10 14:35] Nixie had forgotten in her last visit, largely due to trying to ensure Shayra didn't wail on the poor winged elf for using magic, but she stepped up to the counter. "I've an inquiry, actually." she'd slip the pearl ring from where she'd been keeping it safe on her hand, the purple pearl from the clam nestled safely in the midst of it. "I am Nixie. Idani of the Rusalka." she introduced herself finally as it may become necessary to make sense of what she was trying to ask. "I have been asked by a few and listened to their own tales. This pearl, this ring. Was inside a clam that uttered a riddle I assume pertains to this blight over the land. Clams do not produce rings naturally." she'd been meaning to get it checked out but had simply not found time or forgotten. She would set the item down on the counter, what better place to double check than a magic shop yes? [2015/10/10 14:40] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident): /me held a hand up and shook his head to the shopkeeper. He looked to the Idani as she came forward letting her inquire as she may. He was really just here to look. He hadn't the coin for any of this at any rate, his curiosity showed as he continued to look about the room. [2015/10/10 14:43] Aurelia Lefevre (Guenevere Amaranth): /me wanders into the magic shop, only to see it is indeed quite crowded today. She greets Meri and the two strangers with a polite bow, and thinks perhaps she should return another time. [2015/10/10 14:45] Merialeth Windstar dashed a smile, her gaze more than a bit intrigued at the mention both of who exactly she was - Meri had hoped so - and the story she told. Her eyes flicking down to the item placed atop the counter, her brows furrowing as she listened intently and nodded. The glance over at the man that escorted her, and his movements returned with another warm smile and dip of her head before looking back to Nixie. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, I've heard a bit about you. None negative, in case you wondered..." then reached to plae her hand over the ring upon the counter. Her soft trill of Magic on her breath as she studied the ring then carefully picked it up an studied it again. Her eyes flicking over as Aurelia entered, another dip of her head offered, then returned to the perusal of the ring. Her eyes fluttering closed a moment as another short burst of Song filled the air and Meri examined the ring. [2015/10/10 14:46] Merialeth Windstar: offered in greeting* [2015/10/10 14:52] Nixie was surprised at the lack of negative comments, but wouldn't comment on it herself. Instead the examined Meri as her words seemed to hum with magic as well as her voice itself. It was something of a hobby of hers, show her something new, or of contrary to normal things and she would stare at it, in this case it was a lander who didn't sound completely.... boring. She'd simply study Merialeth while Merialeth studied the ring. [2015/10/10 14:57] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident): /me found his eyes drawn to Meri as well as she wove her magic and inspected the ring. People practicing a learned craft were always so interesting to the hunter. He took a step closer to the counter as she went about her business, quite intrigued by the process. [2015/10/10 14:59] Merialeth Windstar couldn't help but smile, the pearl exactly as Meri'd imagined, the bright lustrous color so distinctive. Her lips curved in delight, and as the Magic of the pearl became apparent to her, well, that was just even sweeter. Her eyes popped open, that clear green gaze falling again on Nixie and her companion both as she murmured warmly, the hint of music still in her measured tones. It didn't seem to faze her a bit that she was being studied in the same fashion, the ease of her regard as if she'd been through it too many times before. "This is quite the artifact, Idani..." She'd pause a moment, debating just how to phrase it in order to not cause offense in any manner. "It will help you keep your balance here on land so that you may move as smoothly as you do in the sea." [2015/10/10 15:08] Nixie tilted her head, watching Meri work whatever magic it was she was working to distinguish the ring. At the words about the ring her brows raised in surprise, watching the pause with amusement after the last of the words were spoken. She knew she was a literal fish out of water, this would help greatly. "That sound incredibly useful." her tone was pleased as she looke down at the little unassuming ring. Though she would tilt her head, "I do wonder how such an artifact made its way into a clam..." humming softly to herself as she pondered. [2015/10/10 15:15] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident): /me looked quite astonished at the shopkeepers words. Such a thing could be very useful indeed. He held his thoughts to himself and let the Idani continue on her line of questioning. The Hunter would have to return if ever he came in to some coin. [2015/10/10 15:17] Merialeth Windstar shrugged and laughed, that Meri had no idea, only that the pearl would be given to the Mer, not how it was found. She'd offer the ring back to Nixie with a slight dip of her head, the soft hum on the Idani's breath bringing a quirk to her lips. Everything musical, usually did. "That I have entirely no clue, but I'm glad to hear that it will help you." Another piece of the puzzle that had been plaguing the Isle was coming together, and the contact made gave Meri a bit of hope. Her gaze flicked over to offer the man another smile and dip of her head politely to him, then returned her gaze back to Nixie. "If there's anything else you might need, please do let me know." She'd have to tell Emma that she'd finally met the Idani, she'd be pleased, hopefully. [2015/10/10 15:25] Nixie nodded slowly, retrieving the ring and slipping it back on her hand as it had been since it tumbled from the clam. "I will be sure to return if such the need arises. Thank you for identifying this interesting trinket." she'd nod to the female a brief smile appearing on her face. "I do have more yet to do, however, and my time in this form grows short." she was already feeling rather dry and tired from all the walking today and that was usually a good indicator to hurry things up. "Have a pleasant evening." with that she would start towards the door unless there was more Meri or her Sin'istram needed. [2015/10/10 15:28] Sira'Kess: /me moved to the door as the Idani said her goodbyes to the shopkeeper and held it for her. He would look to Meri and with a small nod he would say in parting. "Thank you for your kindness." Before leaving after she had stepped through. [2015/10/10 15:30] Merialeth Windstar wouldn't keep her, knowing they had limited time, and the exertion of cllmbing the hill once, let alone a second time had to be tiring. "Please be safe, both, and enjoy." then watched them head out into the afternoon.
8. A Friendly Little Sparring Match: Garrett stops by Astrena and has a lil spar. [2015 10/13 21:46:38] Garrett (Arex Koltai) raised his eyebrows as she mentioned that she'd not had the chance to practice in some time, pushing himself off of the stonework and motioning to her, "Well that just won't do..." He seemed to like the idea of helping her improve in that regard and, as he looked around and realized that no, this wasn't exactly a training facility, he reached up to take off the sword on his back, the bandoleer hanging limply as he offered the sword and scabbard to her, "What type of training have you had before?" If she took the offered blade, she'd find it very light, barely 3 lbs. in weight all together. The blade it self was merely 2 lbs, with a long, straight edge that finally tapered at the end.
[2015 10/13 21:56:17] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) chuckled softly, a tip of her head at his response, her bemused smile lighting her features though as he tugged his sword free and offered it to her, she'd smile warmly and murmur "Oh, it's quite alright, I have my own, besides you'll need one, yes?" Her fingers tracing over the inside of her palm and the mark within as she let loose that quiet trill of Magic. Her eyes closing, and her hands coming together, then slowly drawing apart. The soft hum getting louder as her hands started to glow, then as they drew apart, a bright shimmering luminescence grew between her slowly spreading hands to become a blade very similar to what he'd offered her, in fact it'd be a near-perfect match, just like - magical and glowing and stuff. . Her hilt's crosspiece winged though, and the blade glowing with a faint reddish hue. She'd finally open her eyes to look at him with a bashful smile. "Will this do?" [2015 10/13 22:03:27] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) felt slightly bashful, though she'd maintain a steady grip, seeming at ease with the blade as she held it loosely at her side. "A few years at home... everyone in my family was required to have at least a passing understanding - though admittedly I'm better at this..." nodding to the Mage Blade "... than with a conventional blade. That and my bow..." trailing off as she realized with the blight, how long it'd been since she'd used that either.
[2015 10/13 22:09:50] Garrett (Arex Koltai) tilted his head slightly as she began to cast...and a magical sword began to appear in her hands, to his amazement. As she asked if it would do, he nodded and smiled to her, "Well that's handy..." He placed the bandoleer back on his chest and reseated the sword before drawing it as well. The blade was well-kept, but showed signs of use over the years, such as some gases in the metal were particularly strong claws had raked over the metal He nodded as she mentioned having some basic practice with a blade from her homeland. He looked over his sword and moved it from one hand to the next as he backed away from her. He brought the sword up in an angled fashion, pointing at the ground at a shallow angle, and in a quick sweep of his legs, continued to retreat as he swung the blade in a fast, snapped circle as he spun about. He rolled the blade once in his hand before holding it more traditionally. It was a better idea for him to practice a more general fighting stance than his Fast Blade style as it [2015 10/13 22:09:50] (no name) was. He motioned towards her and then to the blades, "Go for taps on the midsection?" He 'popped' his own body with the flat of his blade as if to emphasize what he meant, so that they didn't end up trying to skewer each other
[2015 10/13 22:17:46] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) grinned a little, she did actually have a 'real' blade, one she kept hidden away, but in general as this seemed to work better, and the illusion of being unwary seemed to fit her, well... She'd glance over the blade he drew, the slight dip of her head in recognition of it's use, especially with what he'd spoken of earlier in the day. She'd tilt her head aside, watching him quietly, gauging his movements ad as he spoke of the terms she'd nod and smile "Of course..." She didn't want to risk -hurting- him... well - not enough that he couldn't brush off. Though it wasn't a two-handed by any stretch, she'd seem to shift into that mode, the grasp of the hilt smoother that way and as if just the thought brought it to mind, the blade lengthened a little bit. "Taps are good... until you call us clear..." Her wings stretching wide for a moment then snapping shut as she prepared herself, the silvery expanse tucking tight to her shoulders as she rolled them back and murmured "Ready."
[2015 10/13 22:22:08] Garrett (Arex Koltai) was now intensely curious as to the properties of her ethereal blade. He was passingly familiar with the spell, or at least the concept, though this would mark the first time he'd seen it in action. He nodded to her as she mentioned she was ready and he too brought his left hand to choke up on the sword hilt as he approached her and began to circle her in a counter clockwise fashion. He watched her body and how she held her blade, internally trying to determine what style she might use, or what actions she would take given different strikes. But it was a bit of a losing fight since he was fighting an unknown. He opted, instead, to simply go for a simple thrust towards the side of her body, looking to tap it if he passed by her guard.
[2015 10/13 22:22:28] (no name): Garrett rolls R5 (IoV:#32f3#): 11 - Tag! [2015 10/13 22:26:42] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R5 (IoV:#fee6#): 18 - Dodge that swing?
[2015 10/13 22:28:37] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan)'s eyes focused on him as he started to move, his circling met with her own to counter, keeping her blade low and crossing before her to start, watching his movements. She knew he'd had years more practice, but the thrill of the chase and the testing of awareness brought a smile to her lips that wouldn't be denied. She saw the swing coming though, saw and skittered just out of range, the soft whoosh as she felt the passing of air and her arms lifted for the barest of moments before she'd dart forward, having to remind herself that she wasn't -really- trying to hurt him, and went to smack at his closer arm before skipping back on her toes.
[2015 10/13 22:28:52] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R6 (IoV:#4453#): 7 - Tap tap? [2015 10/13 22:29:59] (no name): Garrett rolls R8 (IoV:#a871#): 19 - No thank you!
[2015 10/13 22:39:59] Vincent Seradin (Arex Koltai) couldn't say he was surprised to see her dodge out of the way of the blade, but it still elicited a "ahhh!" of friendly frustration as his blade simply attacked thin air. As she followed up with a dart of her own, he grinned at finally having a living opponent to fight, one who would strike in unexpected ways. Thankfully, and what he attributed to what was their friendliness, she didn't quite seem to use her full ability and he, in a display of just how flexible he could be, took a quick step back and ducked simultaneously, which saw him pop back up on the other side of her thrust. He followed her attack with one of his own, another simple "stab" to the air at her right side
[2015 10/13 22:40:15] (no name): Garrett rolls R5 (IoV:#8878#): 11 - Tag, I say! [2015 10/13 22:40:27] Vincent Seradin (Arex Koltai): ((lol! same roll, XD)) [2015 10/13 22:41:16] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R5 (IoV:#6238#): 20 - Ah Ah AH!
[2015 10/13 22:43:48] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) could have said she'd spun a pirouette and danced a jig in the time she had to clear from the empty swoosh of air from the blade passing by, but it was more like a playful grin that darted across her features as she hop-skipped back from the jab at her side and spun past to buffet the air with her wings and throw him off-guard hopefully for the next slap she'd try to deliver across his back.
[2015 10/13 22:43:56] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R9 (IoV:#6f02#): 24 - Pat pat? [2015 10/13 22:44:13] (no name): Garrett rolls R8 (IoV:#84d1#): 21 - That's gonna be hard to avoid!
[2015 10/13 22:48:44] Garrett (Arex Koltai) was in the process of retreating from his thrust when he felt the slap of the blade across his back and groaned in an annoyance to her attack. He'd almost had enough time to avoid it, and his back started to curl to try and give the flat side too much clearance, but it wasn't quite enough. He retreated from her and reached to his jaw line to rub at his chin, apparently a motion he did when he was thinking hard, given how he did the same when talking. He motioned to her with a quick flurry of his wrist towards her, "That was good...that was good." He brought his sword back to bear, doing his best to clear his mind before moving forward as if to thrust, but then feinted to her left side, closing the distance rather aggressively between them and looking to "body check" her lightly. He remembered her comment about light bones, so it was by no means an attempt to hurt her. Really, more of an attempt to through her off her balance while he followed up with his sword
[2015 10/13 22:48:55] (no name): Garrett rolls R5 (IoV:#5114#): 5 - Tag! [2015 10/13 22:50:48] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R5 (IoV:#b94e#): 18 - Here we go again?
[2015 10/13 22:55:31] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) dipped her head politely at his encouragement, the expression on her features all too much like a delighted child who'd just gotten the best toy ever. A chance to stretch long-unused muscles, the exertion, the quick breaths taken as she almost felt exhilarated with the experience. It brought a memory to the fore and though it could have dampened her expression as well, it was a fond look on her face as she used that same buffet of her wings from her last attack to hop-skip forward again out of reach of the swing of his sword with a smile cast back. "Thank you - this is quite fun!" She'd grin a little and turn to deliver another swat to the side, seeming to go for his left side, then feinting and turning the blade to pop at his belly with the flat.
[2015 10/13 22:55:39] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R9 (IoV:#6070#): 21 - Pop Pop!? [2015 10/13 22:56:06] (no name): Garrett rolls R8 (IoV:#b677#): 25 - A difficult task again!
[2015 10/13 22:59:18] Garrett (Arex Koltai) was having a fun time of his own and couldn't help but feel that her enjoyment was infectious. As she dodged from his attack again, he groaned (again, in a more friendly manner) and, feeling her body start to twist, curled his toes and bounced away with deft feet. He landed with a bit of spin still in his body and, perhaps as a bit of a show off, he opted to deal with his rotational momentum by following up his leap with a quick butterfly kick. It wasn't his blade by any means, but a boot heel to the midsection (or in this case, looking to clip her tunic) could be just as effective at times as a blade strike, especially when it wasn't expected.
[2015 10/13 22:59:28] (no name): Garrett rolls R5 (IoV:#522c#): 12 - Watch him spin! [2015 10/13 23:00:24] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R5 (IoV:#7715#): 6 - Eeps! To kick or not to Kick!?
[2015 10/13 23:05:32] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had missed but that was quite alright, she was enjoying just the sparring. Her eyes sparkling in the darkness, the quick tug back of the blade before it could go awry. She caught sight of the sudden change of pace, her arms and wings flashing wide out to carry her back, but this time she'd not been quick enough, the glancing blow of his foot as it came across, left her with a wince and her breath coming out a bit harder than usual. Stumbling back, though the grin only seemed to dim a little, she'd take a second to catch her breath and murmur a warm "Well done!" Her hands on her knees for a moment, then nearly blurred into motion, the casting of the reddened blade arcing out towards him - aiming for his side once more as she skipped past, "But we're not done yet!"
[2015 10/13 23:05:44] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R9 (IoV:#d5f0#): 15 - Tappity tap? [2015 10/13 23:09:29] (no name): Garrett rolls R8 (IoV:#4a40#): 9 - Onoz!
[2015 10/13 23:10:58] Garrett (Arex Koltai) laughed as he felt the sole of his foot just brush against her tunic, almost arresting his spin, and he had to duck his body into a roll to recover. It was just another illustration of how bad of an idea it was to not commit to a full kick, yes, but he couldn't help himself but try and to have a little fun. Such opportunities to fight and not have to worry about actual damage was always a fun way to help process the stress they were surely both under. Maybe not from direct attacks, but from the looming darkness that was always present about the isle nowadays. He nodded towards her offer of congratulations, though he hardly had enough time to say, "Thank you!" before she was once again attacking! He yelped at the sudden movement, and again as a nice sharp "slap" sounded from the blade hitting the leather vest. it didn't actually hurt much, but made a nice sound, sure enough. This time, though, instead of dodging out of the blade, he opted to try and use her momentum against her and once again [2015 10/13 23:10:58] (no name) charged through, turning a she passed her body, and using that twist to try and pull the flat of the blade along *her* side!
[2015 10/13 23:11:15] (no name): Garrett rolls R5 (IoV:#3c8c#): 18 - Cheeky sword tap! [2015 10/13 23:13:06] (no name): Merialeth Windstar rolls R5 (IoV:#f2fe#): 15 - No please?
[2015 10/13 23:19:49] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) had gotten too cocky apparently, the darting past and the lateness of the hour perhaps had made her steps a little less nimble. She'd watched him roll away and come right back, the grin on her lips fading as he caught just the inside of her arm, that twist and caress of steel met with a faint 'squeak' as she stumbled away from it, letting herself shift far enough or out range that he'd have to ambush to come after her, Meri'd pause a couple minute just breathing as she darts a glance up. "Nicely done again..." though she wouldn't move to close in, closing her eyes and opening her hand to let the Magic fade, the shiny red sword fading out of sight as she sighs softly and lifts her gaze to him "That... was altogether too enjoyable... Thank you..."
[2015 10/13 23:23:11] Garrett (Arex Koltai) was preparing himself for a counter attack, but as she moved away, he could feel her relaxing, even before she began dismissing the blade from her person. He loosened his own grip and motioned to her, "Likewise!" He performed a small flourish with the blade before replacing it in his sheath and stepping up to her as she thanked him. He offered a hand to her, a large smile on his face, "We should do that again...you're a much different partner than the usual sort..." It was probably thanks to her magic blade, since it didn't have to conform to any properties other than the ones she wanted. Very unusual to fight against...
[2015 10/13 23:31:19] Garrett (Arex Koltai) was so used to the gesture that it didn't even occur to him to ask if she would be familiar. It was practically a force of habit at that point. It would be weird for him not to offer his hand to his sparring partner. But she seemed to accept the gesture, though he did look a bit sheepish for having put her on the spot. He nodded again as she mentioned the space, "I should rope some of the initiates to try this out too. It will be good for them to try something outside their comfort zone..." He smiled again before motioning towards the stairs, "Heading back down, or were you going to spend a bit more time up here?"
[2015 10/13 23:37:07] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) tipped her head at the idea, a moment's pause then nodding "I will ask though that you speak to me first before inviting people over... it's still quiet so far, but I'm hoping to finish the renovations soon, and it may be a bit tricker to get up here." Her words softened by the warm smile on her lips, she really didn't mind the company, she just didn't like surprises. "I'm going to head home, Damien can let you out." Meri however, would wait til he was clear before lifting herself into the air and casting a warm smile "I have another way home..." then gave a cheery wave and spiraled up into the air and off into the darkness.
[2015 10/13 23:39:09] Garrett (Arex Koltai) nodded firmly as she mentioned warning her beforehand, "Oh, I meant that more...uh, facetiously..." He shrugged slightly, "I have a feeling Luna would see it as some sort of slight to her ability to suggest that she should practice..." He nodded again as she mentioned Damien could see him out and perked a brow as she mentioned she too was heading home. Her taking flight, though, fixed that confusion, though, and he chuckled and waved to her as she made her way into the night

To Make a Special Jar, for a Special Fae, and Discussing the Properties of Magic [2015/10/23 15:30] Merialeth Windstar actually hadn't been the willing part, not the way her mother had envisioned, but things worked out as they did, and it was silly to dwell on the past. "I do have a couple things I need to take care of first, but perhaps a little later this evening, if you're available we could?" She did like the idea of training and expanding her knowledge, hand-to-hand had never been her strong suit, literally or figuratively. Especially with her... racial tendencies. "I do sincerely want to though, please don't misunderstand, I just need to get this jar fixed for Makki..." [2015/10/23 15:38] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me nodded to her as he raised up his hand to head to brush over his hair, "Of course...should have realized..." He felt a little sheepish for having gotten ahead of himself and he pointed towards the door, "I will take my leave so you aren't distracted anymore..." [2015/10/23 15:45] Merialeth Windstar smiles warmly "I didn't mean you had to leave, unless you want to, I just need figure out how exactly I'm going to do this... Magic can be... testy..." She'd pause a moment, then motion for him to follow her into the back as she continued to speak "I don't know if you heard what she's asking for but she wants a way to store the Idani's voice... not to take it away, just... an echo I suppose... so she can 'hear the shiny lady's voice' when she's lonely..." Meri'd offer a somewhat saddened smile at the thought, her gaze fading as she'd wished she'd thought of it before now... there was... anyway Stirring from her thoughts, she'd glance back at garrett and let her fingertips trail over the top of the ceramic jar on her table "So I need to decide how to maintain it... without damaging either her or her voice." [2015/10/23 15:57] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me felt a bit better as she assured him she wasn't trying to hustle him out of the building, and then felt genuinely intrigued by Meri's task as she explained what her efforts were tasked with. He crossed his arms and followed her at her suggestion, frowning in thought as to how one would 'capture a voice', though like Meri, he too found the explanation more than a sad. He reached up to rub at his chin and muttered quietly, "...surely she can find a friend..." His attention was brought back to her task as well as she mentioned trying to find a way to capture the voice without causing harm to either of them. He twisted his mouth in thought for a few minutes before shrugging slightly, "Well, illusory sounds are possible...perhaps you can find a way to inscribe the jar with runes to draw constant magical energy into the jar to perpetuate a Ghost Sound spell?" Yes, he was knowledgable about magic to some extent...it was the particulars about what he just said that he was unable to understand or do [2015/10/23 16:25] Merialeth Windstar stopped short, her eyes widening as she spun on her toes and stared at him for a moment. It wasn't -quite- right, but "That's it... I mean - that isn't -quite- what I am thinking of, but I know something that will work!" She'd reach down to the cauldron at the side of the table, the soft hum on her breath as always when she was searching for something. The proper book glowing a soft pink as she trailed her fingers over it then tugged it to her. "I think this will work..." She'd open the book to a certain page, humming under her breath for nothing more than the joy of the music, almost as a limbering up of sorts for what she was going to do next. "I'm not a runecaster, sadly, otherwise that might work, it's not something I've ever worked with..." she'd speak half-distracted as she perused the book, then started opening drawers and such. "But, what I can do, is enchant a gem as a sort of storage for the Magic itself, and the jar as the container it's stored in..." Truth be told she could just enchant the gem to do it all, but she found it a little amusing to 'store' a voice in a jar, and it was what Ma [2015/10/23 16:25] Merialeth Windstar Makki's friend had given her, and so Meri would work with what she had. "The question is... what would be a good choice, something to retain, but strong enough to power too..." [2015/10/23 16:41] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me almost seemed pleased with himself as she said that what he'd mentioned was what needed to be done! Or something similar. Or maybe nothing at all similar to what he'd thought about. But progress was being made and he felt responsible for it! He watched her work, nodding as she mentioned that she wasn't much of a runecaster, "The Academy...Umberglade...specialized in it, I believe. We had some casters, but many of them seemed to focus on runic magic." he looked to his sword and back to her, "Probably less likely for non-casters to cause problems..." He smirked slightly and then nodded as she explained that she'd use a gem as a form of storage, "Does it need to be a certain type of gem?" Alas, his knowledge only went so far, and gem properties were well outside of that knowledge [2015/10/23 16:49] Merialeth Windstar nodded some "Well yes and no... as far as the ease of use for those not trained to Magic - or unable to as in your case, a rune can work wonders... As far as the gems, well - there are some that seem to hold more energy, or better, maybe is the right way to put it, but the choice of stone can make all the difference. Trying to store a water spell in a Fire Opal, at least in my experience, is pretty much doomed to disaster..." [2015/10/23 16:53] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me nodded quietly at her explanation, reaching to his belt to remove his journal and flipping it through the marked pages to the section he'd set off for magic and the like. Several page flips later and he was writing quietly on the parchment with the charcoal pencil, his mouth speaking silently as if to reiterate what she said as he wrote it down. He looked up from the pages and pointed the pencil at her slightly, "Are there stones that hold magic *too* well, and don't release it when it is desired?" [2015/10/23 17:06] Merialeth Windstar watched him as he pulled his book free, the tilt of her head til she realized what he was doing. Her cheeks flushed slightly, then tipped her gaze back to the table as she motioned to her desk nearby. "You can sit if it's more comfortable, I don't mind..." she'd pull the chair around for him then motion towards it before refocusing on his question "Yes, though it's less common... they're more volatile, they'd be more likely to explode if the right spell or caster isn't used to harness them..." She'd pause a moment again, considering then "But for this.. I also want to draw in the source, you likely have seen this some with your alchemy. The components have to make sense. Pearls are special for the Mer, and hold enchantments well... since this will be for a Mer's voice, it seems fitting." She wouldn't pull a perfectly round one from the drawer though, this was a river pearl, variegated and textured, with hills and valleys. "This will hold her voice better, let the nooks and crannies hold the remnants of her song." It was a rather large one, quite unusual for it's size. Meri'd held on to it for so [2015/10/23 17:06] Merialeth Windstar some time, never quite knowing what to do with it on it's own, but now... [2015/10/23 17:09] Garrett (Arex Koltai): /me looked up from his writing as she mentioned that he could sit at her desk and he spoke in a quick, hushed 'thanks' as he moved to sit, his focus still on writing. At her explanation that it was similar to what he'd seen in alchemy, he nodded and motioned to the stone, "Aye, though I am, as you know, unable to actually draw the magic in. But I have used prepared stones from magic shops to create my potions..." He went back to writing before speaking up again after a few minutes of note-taking, "Would you say there is a gradient of stone affinities for magic? Or do the gems have peculiar quirks about them? [2015/10/23 17:21] Merialeth Windstar dashed a look over, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she watched him writing furiously. "A little of both from what I've seen. Some like a basic quartz, their colors seem to lend to their capacity. Others, like the fire opals, or fire agates, they seem to hold their element better than many others... It's all just a matter of finding the right stone for the right use." [2015/10/23 17:25:41] Garrett (Arex Koltai) nodded again and began writing again, having suspected that such things would not be so simple as to easily fall onto a 1-dimensional scale. He then looked up to observe her actions on the crystal, having written all he could from the information given, and now simply interested in her working of the crystal. [2015/10/23 17:36:42] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan)'d peruse the pearl another long moment, then started reaching. A bottle drawn closer, perused carefully then set beside the pearl, then a second, this one when she shook it a faint rattle, and sound of wind whooshing through the trees was heard. She'd set that beside it as well. Some fish scales, and after a moment, her eyes lit up in remembrance. The key pulled from a chain around her neck, pulling it overhead then using it to unlock a side drawer.. A tiny vial pulled free, the sea green color bringing a warm smile to her lips then settled it alongside the others, her lips moving silently as she glanced over at the book a moment then back to the items before her. Her own mortar & pestle drawn down and the hum returned to her voice as she let herself fall back into the Magic. Pouring in a measure of the scales, the bottle that had rattled, was carefully opened and a droplet falling within the mortar before continuing on... The tiny vial, that too was carefully opened, and the two red droplets, [2015/10/23 17:36:42] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan): the familiar coppery scent of blood in the air as it mixed with the scales and concentrated wind. The last bottle opened and the hint of Faery dust, always a good binding and powering agent was added to the mix before Meri'd smile. She'd mix it all carefully, her song rising on her breath, keying the contents and intent to the Idani, and once it was all combined, she'd drop the pearl in as well. Her hand laying over the top as her Song rose. [2015/10/23 17:39:12] Garrett (Arex Koltai) watched with quiet interest as she worked. There wasn't much point to him taking notes concerning her process, as he couldn't actually benefit from the particular knowledge of how she worked her magic. But it was fascinating to watch nevertheless, much like watching any artisan work their craft and watching as the finished product slowly came into existence as they worked [2015/10/23 17:46:03] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) felt the Song and her Magic rise, the vibrations mixing, forming, feeling the connections build, then uncapped the jar. Her Song still holding on her breath, feeling the tendrils of Magic tease about her, searching, then poured the whole mixture with the pearl included into the jar, and recapped it. Both hands caressing the outside as she clasped it lightly and -pushed-. Feeling the mixture spread through the clay of the jar, watching those tendrils tightening around the mouth of the jar itself and to her eyes it melding in with the material before the soft flash of light came and it just... faded. She'd quickly grab at the counter, bracing herself as the rush of Magic escaped her, leaning over the table's surface til she'd caught her breath, just focusing on drawing in air* [2015/10/23 17:49:06] Garrett (Arex Koltai) perked his right eyebrow slightly as he watched her work and jerked up slightly as there was a flash of light in the jar. He felt his skin flush slightly in embarrassment of having been surprised by the action, though other than the sudden movement, he hadn't actually caused any problems [2015/10/23 17:56:53] Merialeth Windstar (CaireannLiadan) took a moment to recover, her eyes belatedly dashing over at him, her cheeks faintly pinkened as she swallowed hard and finally murmured in almost a whisper "So... yeah. It should be ready." She was careful not to sing around it. Her fingertips lightly teasing over the cork before she'd push it away from her and nestle it in a safe corner. "When Makki comes, she can take it to Nixie, and then, she can sing." She'd explain more of what she'd done when Makki came but for now, "I think I'd like a drink, will you join me?"
