Welcome to the part of the thread in which I tell you what the heck this was even made for in the first place! Well, as some of you may (or not) know, we have a wonderful Flickr account that we put our lovely snapshots of our mobile island home upon. However, our social media-ing could use a little more panache - so why not make a contest out of it?
(If you didn't know that we had a Flickr account, take a moment to look at it below.)
Every month, a new theme will be chosen - and participates have from the 5th of every month, to the 25th to submit their photos. Depending on the theme, different rules will apply in which will be posted, and discussed on the boards here - or you could always message me/staff if you are confused. There are a set of ground rules regardless that can never be broken, but more on that in the rules section down below!
IF IT'S NOT ALLOWED ON OUR FLICKR PAGE, IT'S NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CONTEST. Period. End of Story. "But Chione!" you ask, "What isn't allowed on our Flickr page?" well, my beautiful cherub faced friend, let me tell you!
No Sexual Themes
You heard right, folks! We have children avvies running around for Valeska's sake! So lets keep it clean, because all photos are placed on our Flickr page anyway!
Stay with the Times
Don't dawn your sunglasses and your top designer heels! We keep things old-timey here, regardless of theme! Even if it's a silly one!
Stay within Valesk!
Do NOT go to another sim or a photo studio to take these photos! We want pictures within our home! Plus, it's the Valesk photo page - not anyone elses!
No Rezzing without Permission
If you are needed to rezz something that will not be at your home for a photo - ask permission from the staff before doing so, and please PLEASE pick up after yourself!
Other than that, any other rules will be discussed further once the theme has been announced. All rules need to be obeyed or else your photo will be taken out of the contest. (More on that process under Community!)
Honestly as much as I have thought this through, I have yet to think of what prizes would be a good fit for this contest. I was thinking little badges for our profiles on this forum, as well as possibly little trophies for the winners to keep, as well as a shout out on the website or anything else that we do little articles on to give the selected artist recognition. I guess it's good I didn't think this through cause them it brings us to the community portion of this post!
A good sense of community is very important. Without each other - we wouldn't have such a great place to gaggle! That's why I've capitalized on our sense of belonging for this very contest! First things first, this isn't American Idol. The staff, and other high ups are not photographer experts (well, some might be) and frankly, NEITHER AM I. Plus, not everyone is bold enough to feel comfortable taking a picture - but that doesn't mean they can't have a voice. What does this mean? Well simple, we're doing as the Romans did - and voting!

The contest will consist of three parts, and will be judged by the community as a whole.
1.) Originality
2.) Realism
3.) Understanding of Concept.
ORIGINALITY
Or to put it simply, how creative you are! How much thought and detail did you put within the boundaries to create such a wonderful image? Was it a filter that changed the mood? Either way - do something that leaves people wondering how did you manage to even get that angle!REALISM
The best way to put this is: How life-like can you make it? Even if we are a fantasy sim, you have to remember that we are a role playing sim. Our characters wouldn't have a clue of what a camera is, there for you have to see the image through the looking glass essentially. No images that have items, paraphernalia, or anything that doesn't fit the 'medievalish' times are permitted - and you aren't sure, ask! UNDERSTANDING OF CONCEPT
Basically, did you understand what this month's chosen theme is about? The more it makes sense, the more likely people will enjoy your photo - and you could make your way to the top! Any photos that do not make relative sense to the month's theme will be discarded, but don't worry! You can dispute it if you think it's unjustified! ----------------------------------------------
VOTING - Entering the Contest
Voting is relatively simple! First, lets discuss about how you would enter your photo for the contest.
First, under the Photography Contest thread, you'd create your very own reply!
Then, make sure you're BBC code tag is selected!
The third step is you copy and paste this little gem in that tab!

[/div]This is pretty self explanatory. Where it says your title should go, erase it and place it there. For your photo, hit the little image tab at the top (right by a little button that says mail!) and insert that in between the brackets, and just repeat the same as what you did for your title in the description!
Fill out the information - polish up the look a little bit, and your entry should look like this!

VOTING - Judging the Contest
Judging within the contest is very much the same as entering! Reply to the post that someone has created, using this format!

Once everyone has finished voting - all the totals will be added, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced! Woohoo!
Alternatively, if all this code business is too difficult for ya, you can also vote by sending me a note card with your scores, and I'll post them up on the thread as well - or any of the staff in charge.
and the last thing is, if your photo is discarded for any reason, you WILL be notified. You are also freely able to dispute it, in which all the staff will come together and look at it - and give you the right of trial. If the photo is just completely ludicrous, they have every right to banish you from the sim - but I don't think you would do that now would you?
