Small thing!
I'd been discussing this a while back as an idea tossed around, but entirely forgot about it until an applicant reminded me today.
Plated gauntlets should be classed as medium weapons. The logic here is that we currently have claws cast as medium weapons, which is kinda on the open-ended side. Claws can be smallish or largish depending on the character - a fact which is well-represented by the strength stat either making those claws do Light/Medium/Large damage based on their wielder. Then we have our unarmed which is (reasonably) a Light weapon, again well-represented by str values potentially making one's fists hit for Medium damage.
Gauntlets seem like a very reasonable alternative to claws, and they /definitely/ hurt more than bare fists. With the stipulation that the gauntlets must be plated (or at least have plated knuckle areas), I believe they'd fit well into the Medium class, and give players another interesting RP option for their characters to take, considering they could deal Light/Medium/Large damage as well based on the character's strength stat.
Originally I'd intended to include another note that the gauntlets would have to be repaired relatively frequently, but I got to thinking a bit more - adding a durability factor to gauntlets would probably require the implementation of a durability system for most weapons. Which is neat of course, but functionally it sounds like a huge pain in the ass.
TL;DR, metal-plated gauntlets should be medium weapons, because awesome.
