[18:57] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater exhaled as he stepped into the shop and glanced around, before his eyes fell on the figure in the chair. Nodding to him politely, he said easily, "Excuse me, but are you the owner of this shop? If so, I was hoping you might be able to help me with something." [19:00] ZeriykZeriyk (aster.flux) would lift his eyes over his parchment that he had currently been reading and tilted his head slightly, "Yes, I am the owner, what can I do for you?" Zeriyk would raise an eyebrow as his assistant was busy away cleaning and organizing as he normally did, "Damien...no don't move those books....they need to be there." [19:04] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater inclined his head. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jamison Blackwater. I'm an artificer who specializes in ancient artifacts and lore, and I came to this land as a settler believing that I might find new opportunities to ply my trade. See, in the old lands, I used to raid old tombs and collect artifacts. Often a fruitless endeavor, but I gained quite a bit of insight into ancient cultures. As a result, I also learned a fair bit about metallurgy, and was able to become a decent jeweler in my free time. However, my studies of magic were limited to what could protect me in the tombs, and as I'm settling down, I'd like to ply my trade in a way that would enable me to replicate ancient artifacts and sell them for a profit. Unfortunately, I don't know how to enchant objects, and was hoping this might be a skill I could learn here." [19:07] ZeriykZeriyk (aster.flux) raised an eyebrow and would set the sheath of parchment down on the table, "Yes, you can learn how to enchant from within my shop so long as you realize that you won't be capable of producing ancient and bewildering effects right off the bat. Effects like that take years and years of learning and practicing. But yes I can easily set you up with someone who can train you to enchant." [19:10] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater waved his hand dismissively as he replied, "All magic has a price. And the more complex the magic, the steeper the price. I've seen lamps that grant wishes literally, rings that bestow eternal life at the cost of being trapped in one room forever, cups that heal any wound at the cost of slaying a loved one. I have little interest in weaving complex magic to start, but I noticed that this village doesn't have a steady enchanter, so it might be a good profession to get into, particularly since I can double as a jeweler. So what do I have to do?" [19:17] ZeriykZeriyk (aster.flux) perked an eyebrow, "A steady enchanter? What am I chopped liver?" Zeriyk tilted his head slightly as he had to just shake off the condescending comments. "I'll put you to working with Merialeth. She will start your lessons on enchanting. Now I suppose that we discuss the fee?" Zeriyk would look at the man and wonder what he thought was an adequate fee for learning such a trade. [19:24] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater: me rolled his eyes as he replied, "Come now, I mean someone who specializes exclusively in enchanting, someone who works with both metal and spells." He chuckled lightly as he folded his arms over his chest. "What is it you desire?" [19:33] ZeriykZeriyk (aster.flux) scratched his chin as he thought of what he would even charge, "I want you to go and barter some thokcha ore from Aeldfyr for me. Once you get the ore for me then we will be able to start your lessons. Does this sound agreeable to you?" Zeriyk eyed the man as he realized just how valuable this ore could be to him personally. [19:35] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater chuckled lightly as he folded his arms over his chest and replied easily, "Ah, there've been star showers nearby lately, mm? Alright, I'll see what I can do. Can you at least point me in the direction of the forge?" [19:38] ZeriykZeriyk (aster.flux) would nod slightly, "You know where Lower Aberwyth is? It's west of the entrance to the city. Within the boundaries of the Warden's Keep. It's ran by a ginger male known as Aeldfyr." Zeriyk would tap on the arm rest of his chair while he waited to conduct this last little bit of business for the evening. [19:40] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater nodded lightly and chuckled as he glanced towards the door. "Well... I suppose it'd be a good idea to get acquainted with the smith anyways," he said with a slow grin, before nodding lightly and turning his attention back to the shopkeeper. "Alright, deal. I'll see what I can do. Fair winds in the meantime."

(Enchantment Training, 8/11)
[19:06] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he walked into the Auguriis, but he paused as he saw the pair of women already at the counter. Frowning faintly to himself, he quietly moved past the pair, looking over the various scrolls on the shelf as he folded his arms over his chest, a faint frown on his lips. [19:09] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Venus grabbed the book and hugged it to her chest happily. Just as she was about to leave she say the jewelry maker she had met before. "Oh hello Jamison. How are you this day?" she greeted him with a smile [19:10] Lιттle ƬreeLιттle Ƭree (cedar.ashland) grinned as Meri went to find a scroll to give her for what she'd asked. A glance to the woman excited for the leniency Meri'd shown in regards to payment and then Cedar looked over towards the man who'd entered in. A bob of her head absently to them both and Cedar turned back to Meri, hand slipping into her purse of coin to pull out the coppers named. "Aye then," she said, one silver and five coppers slid along the countertop. "Dint supposen ye be ha'in any who's handy wi' that type o' spell an' cuid teach me a thin' or twa?" [19:11] Lιттle Ƭree: I mean OOPS. Not one silver because currency changed - just 15 coppers boo)) [19:12] Merialeth Windstar: ((I was about to ask you!!!)) [19:12] Lιттle Ƭree: xD)) [19:12] Wild Cote: ((I'm sure Meri would take a silver instead. << )) [19:12] Lιттle Ƭree: lol)) [19:16] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) flicked a glance over as he came in, the soft dip of her head in greeting with a quiet "Good evening..." as she continued with Cedar. The other's excitement met with a indulgent smile of her own, knowing how she'd felt herself in that circumstance, "Have a good evening, miss" then turned back to watch the fifteen coins slid across the counter to be retrieved. Meri'd pass the scroll over to Cedar as she nodded "As a matter of fact, this is one I'm well-practiced with, I could certainly offer you lessons as well - though the cost is a bit different for the lessons. We can work that out however if you're interested." Her gaze flicked back to the man and added "I'll be with you in just a brief moment." [19:17] Merialeth Windstar: ((Actully - nah. She's not the sort.)) [19:19] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater paused browsing the scrolls to frown over his shoulder at Venus and reply bluntly, "Exasperated." He then sighed and turned around towards Meri, holding up the emerald he had been given at the beginning of his training and said, "This! This little bastard right here has given me no end of grief. I don't care how many times I try it, I cannot get the spell to bind because it always feels like I'm trying to force a piece of rock through a piece of iron. It's not melding." Shaking his head, he folded his arms over his chest and added, "Take your time, but when you get the chance, I was hoping you might have a book on Enchanting that I might be able to look over. Maybe there's some trick or alternate method that'll keep me from tearing my hair out trying this." [19:21] Lιттle ƬreeLιттle Ƭree (cedar.ashland) took the scroll in hand and seemed to consider a moment. "Aye ... do think as I'd better. I'm no' a guid hand wi' tha magicks o' healin' like. So's takes me a fair bit more'n tryin' ta learn tha spell --" Her words halted for the sudden abrupt exclamation that came from the man and Cedar cocked a brow at Meri with a wryness to her grin. "Tha' one'll be bald heided soon, jus' watch," she lilted to the elf. Then, " How much then fer tha lessons?" [19:24] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Venus smile dropped a bit at Jamison bluntness. "Oh ok. Well I hope you feel better." she said softly. She looked to the manager and nodded her head. "I will be back tomorrow. thank you again." The turned and walked out of the shop with the book securely in her arms [19:25] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) lifted a brow as she caught the tone of his voice, craning her neck around to peruse the green stone she knew he'd been working with. A brow shooting up as she listened then nodded slowly "Indeed, bear with me a moment, and I'll be glad to find you something to work with. Perhaps it's the difference in methods that's throwing you off." After all the lilt of Elven through another's lips could be... harsh at times, she'd heard the same from Padi when she taught him, and well - it just couldn't be helped for some. Her eyes flicking back as Cedar spoke, nodding warmly "That's qute alright, I'm sure between the two of us we can help impress it into your head." The grin returned in the same tenor, her usual merriment apparent in her gaze as she replied without batting an eyelash "Lessons are a silver per." then waved as the woman from the infirmary headed out "Have a wonderful evening, miss..." and returned her gaze back to Cedar to get her decision. [19:29] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater nodded briefly, softening as he saw Venus' expression fall, and he commented, "Eh, I'm sure I'll find a workaround. Don't worry about me." He winked at her before nodding once to Meri, turning his attention back to the scrolls with his arms folded over his chest, letting out a soft sigh as he did so. [19:30] Lιттle ƬreeLιттle Ƭree (cedar.ashland) was just happy there'd be someone to help her try to figure it out. It'd been holy hell for her to try and learn how to make a magical Panacea and that she wondered if she'd only gotten on account of her being Fae. She created magical toxins like the sort a panacea could cure from so she'd already understood them in one way. Meri was given another smile and then the scroll she'd been given was tucked away under a satchel flap. "Aye then," she said with a nod, showing the arrangement agreeable to her. "Will look fer ya on tha morrow, like. -- I mun be off!" She turned on her heel and threw up a hand in similitude of a wave as she headed for the door. [19:32] Nefertiti Kimagawa: ((thanks for the rp)) [19:32] Merialeth Windstar: ((thank you!!)) [19:40] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) chuckled watching Cedar go "Til then..." offered with a smile, and spun lightly on her toes to peruse him again, head tilted as she murmured "And what will we do with you..." then chuckled good-naturedly. The place she'd pulled the other scroll from for Venus returned to, that soft hum on her breath as she reached for the same spot, only to find it empty. The mutter under her breath of "Damien...." then shook her head and went to the -other- end of the case, digging and finally shaking her head. Her fingers tracing over the case a moment, shaking her head, then cast a glance to that emerald once more as if considering. The pitch of her hum changing to a soft descant of song, the gem glowing briefly in his hand, then winked out. A nod of contentment, then reached for one of the other smaller books, peered inside -it- and nodded once more before presenting it to him. "There you go. That, will be 30 coppers." [19:43] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater frowned down at the gem as it glowed briefly before scowling at Meri and saying dully, "See, now you're just showing off." He sighed as he put the gemstone in his pocket before reluctantly pulling out his coinpurse and adding, "And you're trying to rob me blind, too. This is almost an entire week's pay for me, you know." He quirked an eyebrow at her as he reluctantly counted out a number of the coins before handing them to her and muttering under his breath, "You'd think as a goldsmith that I'd make untold amounts of silver, but noooo...." [19:48] Merialeth Windstar: /mt tilted her head as her gaze lifted back to him. "Hardly trying to er... rob you. The cost is appropriate to the earnings you'll make off of it once you've mastered the feat. And then some. I have no doubts that your talents will reimburse you and then some. And no, I wasn't 'showing off' - I was ensuring that nothing had been stored within the stone that you were unaware of, or that it's capacity for holding magic, hadn't been damaged. You're welcome." The words offered in her usual soft matter-of-fact voice, her gaze direct as always, but with the hint of a smile on her lips. Her fingers splayed out to receive the coins, and nodding once at the receipt. "That's the typical response I think from many, though I could say the same here. However as I mentioned, I'm quite sure you'll recoup that in no time once you're able to get it down." [19:50] Merialeth Windstar: (kicks repeating phrases and whistles aimlessly) [19:51] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater stuck his tongue out at Meri playfully as he replied, "I am grateful, don't get me wrong." He took the book and briefly flipped through it without reading it before nodding lightly and smiling to her. "I hope this'll help. Sorry I haven't been available for any lessons, but I imagine we've both been rather busy. I'll look forward to reading this, though. Thank you," he added, turning to read. [19:51] Wild Cote: *leave [19:56] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) lifted a brow at the display, blinking once or twice, then nodded as she moved back to the counter and slid the coins into the lockbox. "Of course, I hope that you have a good evening, and good luck with your lessons, that should help you quite a bit." Dipping her head to nod at the tome briefly then watched him head for the door.

(Enchantment Training, 8/14)
[22:45] Jamison Blackwater sighed as he sank into the seat and tossed an emerald down on the table, scowling at it as he heaved out a small book and began flipping through pages, a grimace on his face as he muttered to himself, "Alright, you little bastard, let's figure out why you can't hold a charge...." [22:49] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) , bundled tight in his coat across the tavern, has his own book laid out on the table. He lets out a yawn and slumps forward for a few moments, resting a moment before reaching out to the candles in the center of the table. With a gentle hand, Sovelis tips one candle to the side and lights the second to refresh his diminishing light source. Hearing the muttering nearby, Sovelis tiredly lifts his head and stares lazily in the direction of the other man. [22:52] Jamison Blackwater narrowed his eyes as he flipped through the pages and muttered under his breath, "Right, let's see here... carefully weave the spell into the skin of the object... Goddammit, this isn't any help!" he snapped, sighing as he gripped his hair. "It's not like I haven't already tried that method for the past month with no success! There's got to be an alternate method!" [22:58] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) blinks and gives a soft chuckle and a dismissive flip of his hand in the direction of Jamison. "Improperly shaped facets... hidden blemishes...reflective surfaces... quality and preparation are key for the enchantment processes..." Sovelis mutters lowly before rolling some on the table to face the other way once more. "If you boil the gem in purified water and polish the surface to remove microabrasions, you might find more success..." [22:59] Jamison Blackwater glanced up, leveling out his tone, since he wasn't irritated with the man as he held up the gem and calmly replied, "Trust me, the gem isn't going to get much more polished than this. Jewelry is my life, and if I can't get a gem to flawless quality, I have no business in this career." He chuckled as he set the gem down and sighed, folding his arms as he said, "No, I think the problem is with the enchantment process itself. I don't think my method is working for some reason. Dunno if it's a lack of power or lack of concept...." [23:08] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) "A good friend used to tell me that magic is Elven Bullshit." he grumbles, sitting back up and peeling a paper off of his face. He smacks his lips some, and rubs at his brow to help wake himself up. "That's what it is, mostly. It makes little sense in a realistic... sense. It isn't about the visible polish, its about the magical attunement that the specific processes give it." He continues to explain. "Or you might just be Null and not actually have any magic. I don't know you to tell." [23:09] Lele (francescamorielli) is offline. [23:10] Lele (francescamorielli) is online. [23:10] Jamison Blackwater glanced up with a scowl and snapped his fingers, causing a small flame to flicker over his hand as he replied dully, "Yeah... pretty sure that I'm not Null." He waved his hand, releasing the magic and letting it dissipate into the air as he sighed and settled back in his seat with his arms folded as he kept pawing through the pages. "Besides, magic isn't supposed to be realistic. That's counter to the very nature of magic itself, and that's what makes it so powerful." [23:13] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) nods slowly a few times. "It is all about the method then. If one method doesn't work, try another one. Whether you use mathematics, geometric shapes, runes, the burning of plants, the writing of scrolls, or whatnot to cast your magics, the same goes for enchanting. I've seen a man vomit of magical marbles, and a dwarf use magic entirely related to how angry he was at any given moment. Books can tell you how others have done it. Now you need to write your own." [23:16] Jamison Blackwater shook his head as he replied, "But that's just it. My method of magic is the cancellation of magic. Well, that and-" He suddenly stopped, as if realizing something, and then he slowly grinned as he said, "Actually, thank you. You've just given me an idea." He began flipping through the pages of the book as he continued, "I've always been poor at brute force spells like Evocation and the like, but I've always been excellent with one particular school outside of Thaumaturgy. Translocation. So you may have given me a way to do this...." [23:19] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) snaps a finger and gestures it towards Jamison like it was a loaded hand crossbow, then makes a motion as if having just fired it. "And there you have it. Another satisfied customer. I do hope this works out well for you, good sir. Do tell me how it goes." He drones on tiredly. "I Dabble in most things, but I am mostly a maker of things rather than a caster of spells. Problem solves seems to come naturally to me despite my own failures to perform." [23:22] Jamison Blackwater paused on one page before glancing up and chuckling lightly as he replied, "You're not the only one. Magic is sort of a means to an end for me. But do tell, what do you mean?" As he said this, he began to scan the pages, his grin growing wider as he did, starting to prepare a spell as he did so. The more he read, the more encouraged he became. [23:25] Cynric (jens.ixchel) is offline. [23:46] Mei Lin (ghostofishtar) is offline. [23:51] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) gathers his papers back into his book, closes and clasps the book, and begins to put it away on his belt. "Hm? Oh, just one of many natural flaws." He states. "Magic is the universally greatest tool, for use of creation or destruction. Though I am skillful in magic as well as many other trades, I tend not to succeed at what I attempt. Perhaps it is the price of my knowledge. Perhaps it is just bad luck." [23:54] Jamison Blackwater nodded lightly as he replied easily, "Well, could be worse. Everyone has their own problems. I've never been one for physical labor myself. It's why I only work with softer metals, since I've never been strong enough to mold iron." He exhaled and then closed his eyes, focusing on the gem as he murmured to himself, "Right... first to slip a portal past the skin of the gem...." [23:56] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) . Portals are never good. Poor Fenris learned that the hard way... Sovelis raises a brow but looks on curiously, scooting over to sit a bit further away from the man. "Careful there my boy, lest the thing shatter. You should focus in and observe the structure of the crystalline matrix... you know what, this isn't helping, I should be quiet and allow you to focus. Just let me know if you need any assistance at all, as I am right here to lend my aid." He rambles... despite saying he was shutting up. [23:59] Jamison Blackwater opened one eye and chuckled as he replied, "Relax. If you want to know the theory, it's not a physical portal, but rather a minor variant of a Servant's Portal. That particular spell doesn't affect physical structures around it, which is why one can slip inanimate objects through it and place them anywhere without regard for what might be on the other side. Theoretically, inanimate objects also refer to spells, which means I can potentially enchant an object from the inside out, rather than trying to get it to absorb from the outside in. Make sense?" [00:00] Abaddon (abaddonvernus) is online. [00:02] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) drops his book back down on the table at the man's explanation, . A loose strand of hair is freed as Soveliflips to a random page of his book [00:02] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield): (Shite) [00:03] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) drops his book back down on the table at the man's explanation. A loose strand of hair is freed as Sovelis draws out the pencil from behind his ear and flips to a random page of his book. "Make's sense enough, I suppose. So long as you believe you can concentrate on both this minor portal as well as your intended enchantment." He affirms, taking a few short notes in the margins. [00:07] Jamison Blackwater smirked lightly as he replied, "Well, that's the trick, isn't it?" He exhaled softly and closed his eyes again, deftly opening the portal within the confines of the gem before opening a second on the surface of the gem. Keeping it symbolically in place with his left hand, he used his right to focus a basic light enchantment into it, to try and see if the concept would work, all while keeping the magic carefully balanced. [00:12] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) keeps watch, occasionally dotting down notes whenever Jamison does something interesting. "I suppose it is... Do continue." He mutters, subtly changing the contents of his writings to that of mathematics and arcane formulas. Sovelis continues this writing, watching Jamison, and his muttering becomes seemingly utter and unrelated nonsense. This too, would be more formulas and crafts-jargon that could easily be misconstrued as someone talking plans for something over to themself. After a moment, Sovelis's lenses would glint in the dark with a strange energy, as he gains the gift to Read Auras upon the completion of his spell. [00:14] Jamison Blackwater exhaled as he pushed the magic in his right hand into the gem, almost as though he was trying to pour water into a container. When it felt as though the magic had been released, he quickly closed the portal and opened his eyes. A grin spread across his face as he picked up the now-glowing gemstone and commented, "Well. Glad to see that worked. Roundabout, to be sure, but effective." [00:25] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) gives a small, half-hearted applause with one hand against the table. Mostly because his other hand was still writing, and partially because he was focusing on the spell he himself just cast. "Congratulations, I am glad it worked out well for you. Keep that up, and perhaps we can completely replace these candles with sparkly gems." Sovelis jokes, allowing his Read Aura to fade. "PErhaps in the future you may practice this with others aiding you. It would further augment the power of your enchantments, and the selection of magics that you can imbue objects with. Do let me know if you ever wish to try a joint project of something more complex." [00:28] Alevan Staheli is offline. [00:28] Jamison Blackwater glanced up as he smirked slightly, replying easily, "Actually, I did have an idea for something like that. It'd involve utilizing a Mage Bolt spell in conjunction with a Levitation spell inside of a glass ball, essentially creating a radiant light that's suspended in midair, lasts longer and shines brighter than a candle, and can be placed anywhere without fear of it burning down your house. Though the initial idea would only work for large-scale areas. Haven't figured out a way to make it portable yet." He then nodded lightly as he pushed himself up and pocketed the gem. "I'll keep your offer in mind. I might need your help with some inventions I have in mind." [00:31] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) gives a nod and closes his book once more. "Do reach out, I am always interested in a new project. It has been years and I would love to get my creative juices flowing... so to speak. I do not actually have juices of creativity. That would be strange. Also, a neat idea for an alchemical mixture now that I mention it. Oh!" Sovelis springs up and grabs his book, before wobblign suddenly. "Whoa... hold on a moment, I stood up too fast... there we go. Ahem. I am Sovelis Quinn, of the Quinn Barony of the CrystalCourt. Though this may not mean as much to you." [00:33] Jamison Blackwater nodded lightly as he pushed himself up as well, walking over to the man as he replied, "Well, in any case, it's always fun to meet a fellow scholar. I'll look forward to working with you. Jamison Blackwater. Though unfortunately my family isn't particularly noteworthy," he added with a chuckle, extending his hand. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." [00:33] Avulasi would seem to just suddenly appear at the entrance of The Ugly Duckling. His stature, and light footedness made it difficult to hear him from afar, and by the time he was within the building any sound he made would be an afterthought. He did walk towards a table with a rather loud grunt though, tossing his bags onto a chair from across the room in a frustrated manner. "Gents" he'd not even look towards them. Instead his eyes would glance behind the bar, or rather, it's tender. With the unspoken order he'd settle into a seat with a thump. [00:34] Farah Hannu is offline. [00:38] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) "A pleasure to meet you. I can typically be found here, the pavilion in Middle Aberwyrth, or the Smithy at the Keep. Though more accurate that I loiter, still trying to get employed or a home. Both, preferably. Camping out in the wilds with a mad pyromancer and a man made of metal is taxing on the sanity." [00:39] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield): (trying that again since half got eaten) [00:40] Hewt (xen.xigalia): ((you can hold ctrl and press the up arrow key and should get it )) [00:40] Hewt (xen.xigalia): ((while your typing cursor is in the text box) [00:41] Sovelis Quinn (tigerzak.lorefield) reaches forward to take hold of Jamison's hand, giving him a firm and hardy handshake with a goofy grin on his face. "A pleasure to meet you, Jamison. I can typically be found here, the pavilion in Middle Aberwyrth, or the Smithy at the Keep. Though more accurate that I loiter, still trying to get employed or a home. Both, preferably. Camping out in the wilds with a mad pyromancer and a man made of metal is taxing on the sanity." When the bags are thrown with a heavy thump, Sovelis shakes with a start and looks around to see the short creature. "hm.. Evening... I was just about to head out, Do enjoy your drink, and your assault upon the furniture." [00:42] Jamison Blackwater nodded sympathetically. "As one can imagine it would be. If you're any good with a hammer, the smithy is always looking to hire, though you'll be competing with dwarves, so good luck." He grinned roguishly as he added, "Fortunately for me, they generally stay away from jewelry and goldsmithing, seeing it as frilly and beneath them." He then glanced out at the sky and added, "I hate to this, though, but I must depart for now. A pleasure meeting you again." He then nodded over at Avulasi by way of greeting and farewell as he departed.

Enchantment Training, 8/17
[19:28] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he glowered down at the jewel in his hand as he commented to himself, "Right... enchanting this damn thing with two spells at once. Problem is that I'm already basically using two spells at once, and I only have two hands, so.... hm...." [19:29] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Rogue walked up the steps to upper aberwyth deciding to take a look around see if there was anything she could maybe sneak away with. Her one eye looking around the area for some time before going to check out what was in each building. Making her way to the one across from the tavern she looked in the windows and laughed "na use to me fukin books" muttering under her breath as she turns around hearing a voice, she just stares at the man with that one sapphire bluish eye before goin back to looking around. [19:31] Tsuyu AkanoTsuyu Akano hummed quietly as her gaze skimmed over the elegant scarl of the common language written in the large book she had in hand. The foreigner was cradling it in one arm, the other was lifted to allow her to slowly slide her fingertip under the lines of text to highlight where she was. She seemed to be quite enthralled. But! Of course, rude ass wolf shows up and comments in that damned accent, forcing the girl to lift the gaze of startlingly pale brown eyes. She had an inherently gently look, and with her head cocked curiously, she looked all too confused with the woman. "Pardon..?" Came the quiet voice with its eastern accent. [19:31] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari is just loitering by the well, occasionally pulling up a bit of water and filling a cup around half full before downing it. Apparently... he was quite thirsty. Or just dehydrated. He looked a tad gaunt. Too much practice in the wee hours of the morning. He stretches a bit and peeks off towards the road leading to the Keep and rests his eyes before scooting to the edge of the well to lean against it and look at the folks in the square. [19:32] Faithy Arun: (( `; Edits to rude ass rogue. ; )) [19:42] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgзѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (lilmia91) smirks behind the mask as she turned to stare at the woman that spoke to her, looking over the womans clothes she just gave a shook of her head. "Open ya 'ears lass, I 'ate repeaten meself" she then starts to speak very very slow "I say za books 'ave nu fukin' use ta me." [19:43] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater felt the gaze of the woman on him, and he frowned for a moment before shaking his head and focusing on the gem. "Right, first off...." He exhaled as he opened tiny portals on both the interior and exterior of the gemstone, focusing his energy on them as he gathered the other spell in his free hand, a basic light spell. As he did, he pushed the spell through the portal before gathering the energy to cast a second. As he did, though, the first spell didn't remain in place, and escaped through the portal, the magic dissipating and leaving him scowling at the gemstone in his hand. "Mother of-" [19:43] Tsuyu AkanoTsuyu Akano paused, her cheeks flaming with shame as the accent muffled her ability to understand what Rogue was saying. "A-.. Ah.. I'm so sorry.. Common difficult.. I don't.. understand..." She murmured. She quickly snapped the book shut, lifting it up over her cheeks to just below her eyes as though it might disguise the pink coloration staining pale cheeks. [19:47] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari sips his water and watches, patiently as he can, while the human chastises thewoman in pink for reading a book and gives Jamison an amused smirk as the spell fails. He sighs a bit and sets the mug down on the edge of the well and wanders towards the keep. May as well see if the woman was there, after all. He speaks up as he passes the exotic woman turning a shade of pink, "Books keep you sharp. Being dull gets you no place fast." he shrugs and wanders onward. [19:55] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgзѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (lilmia91) snickers as the woman seems to get embarrassed, well she found something to do now. Though as she heard the males words she wiggles a finger at him "zhat is nat true, ya dun't need ta open a book ta 'ave smarts" she points to her head before looking back at the woman. She started twirling her finger behind by her leg as she started to call on her magic "if ye read so much zhen Id zhink ye understand what Im sayin' zer lass." [instill despair 1/3] [19:56] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater glanced up from his work with the gem to glower at the man snickering at him, before noticing the strange accent of the girl, as well as her clothing. Palming the gem for a second, he approached her and asked her, "Excuse me, but... are you from one of the oriental empires? Your clothing seems familiar, like something I've seen out of a book once. A camano, or something, if I'm not mistaken?" He tilted his head, seeming fascinated, even as he re-focused his energy back into the gemstone, trying to re-open the portal and keep it open while still focusing on figuring out a way to instill two spells into the stone at once before they dissipated. [20:03] Tsuyu AkanoTsuyu Akano paused a bit, her weight shifting uncomfortably. Of course, her attention was drawn from Rogue towards Jamison as he came up towards them. "Ah.. Hai.. Kimono.." She corrected him. Of course, her gaze turned back towards Rogue. She'd shift, eyes narrowing a bit at the woman in response. Of course, her words went in one ear and out the other, but her tone did not go unmissed. "Well.. I apologize if I have offended you.. But I see no reason to be so.. put off.." [20:07] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgзѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (lilmia91) turns her head to the male, her finger still twirling in a bit of a circle like motion to the side, a few words murmured in a bare whisper behind her mask. Her one eye staring at the male with a look of mischief to it, smirking behind her mask before looking at the woman "nat putt off lass, but all I sayin' zhat books nat 'old everything. Better to learn bein' out arounds peoples ya?" [20:08] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз: [instill despair 2/3] [20:10] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater frowned lightly at the girl as he noticed the twinkle in the girl' eye, and he tensed up slightly, but kept his attention focused on the task at hand for the moment. Exhaling, he once more tried to push a spell into the gemstone, and then he quickly switched to another. However, the two spells rebounded off of each other, and the gemstone went flying out of his hand as a result of the magical forces being warped inside of it. Cursing, he walked over to the grass and plucked it up as he turned his attention back to the girl. "I see! So, which of the empires are you from?" He also nodded at the vulpine creature on her shoulder and added, "And... that does not look natural. Fascinating, mind you, but unnatural. What sort of creature might that be?" [20:21] Tsuyu AkanoTsuyu Akano blinked and glanced away from Rogue again as he mentioned her familiar. "Ah.. My companion.." She lifted a hand. The whispy fox like creature slithered down off her arm, moving to settle outstretched along her arm into her palm. Of course, she warily flicked a glance back towards ROgue again, something was, inherently, off.. [20:26] ѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgзѕкץяαн ℓuиαзdgз (lilmia91) murmured a few words, her hand still twirling that one finger before she turned the twirling finger a bit upwards towards the man as she sent that mind magic towards male. Hoping to cause him to feel that despair, that he will not believe he will ever learn what hes trying to do with that stone. Yeah she was definitely not the nicest person but she didn't care. No words were spoken from her as she just seemed to be listening but concentrating on the magic to be sent to the male next to her. [instill despair 3/3 towards cote, can roll resolve against magic.] [20:27] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Rogue murmured a few words, her hand still twirling that one finger before she turned the twirling finger a bit upwards towards the man as she sent that mind magic towards male. [20:28] Wild Cote: ((This is why I hate dice. Sigh.)) [20:30] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed lightly as he glanced down at the gemstone as the spell washed over him, and he shrugged as he commented, "Meh. What's the use, really?" He pocketed it and slumped back up against the wall of the building, his arms folded as he stared down at the cobblestones, a sour look on his face. "It's not like I've been able to do anything with the damn thing anyways, so I may as well give it up. And no one's been buying from the damn smithy in the first place...." [20:33] Tsuyu AkanoTsuyu Akano 's lips fell, a small frown settling on her lips as she peeked up towards Jamison. "Are you alright..?" Her tone was as gentle and concerned as ever. Her eyes narrowed in confusion as to the males sudden change in attitude. "Hmmn.." She murmured, before turning her gaze back towards Rogue. Her frown deepened, but she had no evidence of foul play, so she just glanced back towards Jamison once again. [20:36] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Aradhelon Malethlhl Mont D'or had been most interested in entering his building and sitting down for a writing session, however seemed to instead stumble on the most peculiar of a group in front of his sister and his's building. "Hmm?" He mumbled, breathing out a puff at smoke as he observed each one for a moment. Tsuyu was there, so he seemed to be decently all right with their loitering, and he recognized the male. "What seems to be the matter?" He purred on over. "All looking so sad and upset... No time for frowns, it is a lovely evening!" [20:36] Alleo: (( opps )) [20:36] Alleo: (( Put that after Rogue im stupid )) [20:38] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Rogue saw that her magic worked, she looked at the male "are ye 'kay Lad? nu reason ta just give up on sumthin' " she sounded truly like she cared but inside she was laughing like there was not tomorrow. God she was having fun. It was then she got another idea, she started twirling her finger on the other side of her leg as she focused on her magic once more. "Gotta keep ye head up zher lad, just cus ye not get it now doesn't mean ye won't later." [instill hate 1/3] [20:40] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed lightly as he glanced over at Arad, before nodding and pushing himself up. "Lovely. Right, whatever." He nodded to those present as he put his hands in his pockets and muttered, "I'm gonna... take a walk I guess... focus on some things." Shaking his head, he walked away, his hands in his pockets and looking melancholy. [20:42] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he felt his head clearing, and he frowned down at the gem as he muttered to himself, "Damned thing is causing me no end of grief. It's not like I can cast three spells at once with three hands-" However, he then stopped and glanced down at his hand, and he slowly grinned. "Right. Precision over power," he muttered. Closing his eyes, he instead channeled the spells into his fingertips instead of his hand, while the hand balancing the gem kept it still. He opened the portal and forced the spells in at the same time before quickly closing the portal. The gem rumbled for a moment, then lay still, fully enchanted. Grinning to himself, he slipped the gem into his pocket and gazed out over the sea, a satisfied look on his face.

[16:04] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he walked into the magic shop, nodding lightly to Meri and flashing a grin at her as he said, "Evening, Meri! Got a moment?" [16:06] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) lifted a brow at the sigh, her gaze flicking back up from the pages she was perusing to the figure that had just entered. "Good evening, what can I help with?" [16:06] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater nodded briefly to the demon behind her (not recognizing it as a demon, obviously), as he replied, "I'm here to pick up the next book in the series for enchanting, the Journeyman book, if you have it in stock." [16:07] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari taps his nose, "Delays are good, dear... We have all the time in the world to get you learned up." he peers at Jamison when he walks in and raises an eyebrow, "Ahh... The gentleman failing miserably in the square. That was an amusing thing to watch, I admit.." he hrms, looking to Meri a bit and shushing so she can do her thing. "Sorry, that slipped." he coughs, trying to look innocent again, while lounging in the chair. [16:08] AshesAshes (bttenn) bangs loudly on the door, she was alone, had a parchment and quill in her hands and that in itself may be enough reason to assume she wasn't here to punch anyone in the face ... yet. "open up! this is important" without introducing herself for the occasion. She hadn't any of her cronies with her so this was probably a rare and special occasion. [16:10] Merialeth Windstar: ((damn Lumiya, sorry crashed - reposts please?)) [16:10] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater nodded briefly to the demon behind her (not recognizing it as a demon, obviously), as he replied, "I'm here to pick up the next book in the series for enchanting, the Journeyman book, if you have it in stock." [16:11] Ashes: [16:08] Ashes (bttenn) bangs loudly on the door, she was alone, had a parchment and quill in her hands and that in itself may be enough reason to assume she wasn't here to punch anyone in the face ... yet. "open up! this is important" without introducing herself for the occasion. She hadn't any of her cronies with her so this was probably a rare and special occasion. [16:15] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) blinked at the slamming of her door, her brows lifted as she stared over at the door and motioned for Jamison to open, since he was like... right there and all. A glance cast back at Padi with a brow raised in surprise then looked back towards the door "Well, since this happens to be a business and not a private home, as long as you're polite, I suppose your entrance is likely allowable." She'd call, raising her voice only enough to pass towards whoever was outside, then tipped her gaze back to Jamison as she stepped back from the counter a little bit and glanced over at Padi briefly with a roll of her eyes for his comment and back to the door. [16:16] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari gives Jamison a scathing sort of look and shrugs, "I don't think it works that way, chief." But he gets up to answer the banging at the door. His attire implied he wasn't armed or dangerous, but he certainly didn't seem scared of whatever was going on with the front door. Perhaps he was just dumb. When Meri motioned to Jamison, he just kinda stands there looking between the folks gathered. [16:17] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater raised an eyebrow at the demon as he replied easily, "Yeah, gods forbid that I don't immediately master something the first time that I try it." Rolling his eyes, he moved towards the door and pulled it open, stepping aside for the tiefling while waiting patiently for the book as he reached to his pocket and began counting out coins. [16:21] AshesAshes (bttenn) walked in as if some buttler had opened the door for her , who she didn't even give a second glance, going immediately for the people that were behind the counter and adressing the one (woman) that happened to be closer "supply day is on Sundays , if you have any perishables that need to be delivered in this hole above ground of yours I would suggest deliveries on the same day" Ashes wasn't the kind to bullshit around. "if you fail to be here here on day of delivery we will leave your supplies at your front door and an y complaints about loss of goods will be treated as a direct attempt at defamation towards the Harober" she gave her sickeningly sweet smile "any questions?3 [16:22] Ashes: "direct complaint attempt at defamation towards the Harbor' she gave a sickeningly sweet smile "any questions?" [16:25] Emm'esta ThiadilEmm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) coughed slightly, clearing her throat. It was the same speech she'd just received. But an elf was an elf was an elf. Even a Tiefling. She would do her best to befriend this character. Though she was loathe to admit that some of her reasoning was her curiosity at just why the Harbor Master behaved this way. That curiosity would be her undoing some day, she was sure of it. Emm'esta nodded to Jamison, Meri, and the other male present. She didn't know him, but offered him a quick smile. [16:28] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) blinked a moment, too surprised by the woman's demeanour and commentary to even respond for a moment, her head tilting as she finally returns "Actually I usually send down for when I need something, so a weekly delivery will likely be too often. You won't need to go out of yur way to deliver, I can come pick up things as I need them. It's intriguing to note though that you're moving about and setting up deliveries. I'm Meri, and you are?" Jamison's comment met with a lifted hand and a 'one moment' sort of motion though as Emm arrived, she'd get a quick smile and dip of her head in greeting before Meri's gaze went back to the other female. [16:28] Merialeth Windstar: your*) [16:30] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari stretches a little and stands up a bit straighter when Jamison spoke up and then Ashes gave Meri trouble. "I don't think the threat is necessary... We can work things out pleasantly enough, miss." he glances over at Emm and returns the light smile. Generally keeping himself on hand but not in the way for the moment. "If one of the other staff doesn't go to pick it up, I'd likely go pick it up anyways. Are you in charge of the harbor now?" [16:31] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater chuckled as the magic shop quickly filled up, and he counted out a couple of silver coins he'd saved up before stepping back and folding his arms over his chest. He stood beside Emm and smiled lightly at her, nudging her shoulder with his by way of greeting as he patiently let Meri attend to the current situation. [16:31] AshesAshes (bttenn) didn't even give a second glance at the elf that just walked in, hardly even remembered her as the same person she had just talked to. She was self absorbed that way. But totally shrugged at Mer's answer, it didn't make a difference for her and the whole point of being her was just to establish territory. No doubt she had some cronies hiding the shadows outside but they were probably drunk by now adn wouldn't be of much help anyway. "Ashes" she winked at Mer's question " currently know as Harbor MAster" in truth Ash had only come down to get a feel of the people that were now dependent on her. There was no danger.... not yet .....but word in lower Aberwyth was that a thug had now taken over. [16:40] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) lifted the other brow, a slight dip of her head at the information offered "Well, good to know. If and when I'm in need of your services, I will definitely let you know." Meri'd then turn and nod towards Padi and the books stacked behind him, the soft note of Song passing her lips, as she glanced towards the books, one of them glowing slightly at the sound then fading off as she spoke. "Padi, can you grab me the fourth one down in that stack? Thanks." then turned back to Ashes and inquired "Anything else I can help you with tonight?" [16:42] Emm'esta ThiadilEmm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) grin widened as Jamison playfully nudged her. She liked the human. He was diligent, friendly, smart, magical, and did she say smart? Not only that, but he was just fun to be around. And he was human! Who knew! She'd been around quite a few humans in her life, a long life compared to a human's to be sure, but he just seemed...like her. That was the only way she could explain it. They had a lot in common. She glanced back over to the Harbor Master. There was a way through that hard-bitten armor of hers, and Emms would find it. [16:43] Padishar IshtariPadishar Ishtari hrms and turns about to find her the book. Picking it off the shelf and looking it over. If it was the book Jamison was after, he'd just offer it over to the guy, "You'll need more practice if you're going to get better. A book will only help you so far..." he raises an eyebrow and keeps it held out til Jamison takes it or not. If it's not the one Jamison wants, then he'd simply take it over to plop in front of Meri, though he still says the same comment towards Jamison. Either way, he tries to keep an eye on this fiesty harbor master. [16:44] AshesAshes (bttenn) "every Sunday" she smirked at the woman behind the counter and thus making no secret of the fact that Ashes will be happy to victimize her on the matter. It was all about money anyway, she was still a human , albeit a cursed human, greed was not a foreign sensation. Giving Mer a practiced faked smile "we'l be in touch" she didn't bother to wink at Mer, it would be overstating it. She had ignored the man behind the counter the entire time, mistaking him for a drone , a work bee, someone that had nothing better to do. [16:46] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater returned the grin at Emm as he caught the gleam in her eyes. Of course, it wasn't hard to see why they got along, seeing as she was intelligent, engaging, charismatic, and graceful, though tempered with a playfulness and mischievous that drew him to her. She was simply fun to be with. As the demon approached, however, his expression soured lightly as he took the book and replied sharply, "Which is why I'm practicing, rather than expecting to master the art all at once. That's the very definition of practice." He snatched the book from the redhead's hand as he scowled before turning to Meri and easing his expression as he added, "How much do I owe you?" [16:49] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) wasn't worried a bit, and appearances, well, they could be deceiving, as always. Meri'd dip her head then glance over as Padi went by with the book, nodding as she saw him pass it over to Jamison. The moment's thought and faint blanking of her gaze for the briefest of seconds as she considered a moment, then added "Hm... what was it last time, a silver, yes?" The petty bickering back and forth bringing a sigh to her breath and a glance over at Padishar then back to Jamison again, Emm, well everyone got along with Emm, and Meri'd just dash her a smile and roll of her eyes as if to say 'Men'. [16:51] AshesAshes (bttenn) walked out of the building because her business had been concluded anyway. She didnt bother to say goodbye to anyone because that was just not on her list of concerns ... their sensibilities. Ashes retreated back to the harbor with a grin on her face ,would be seen by npc town folk gossiping about how she bragged about bullying townspeople [16:52] Emm'esta ThiadilEmm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) could easily read the discord between the two men in the room, not to mention the tidal wave of animosity coming from the Harbor Master. Was it feeding over to Jamison and Padi? Those kinds of things were certainly possible. She wondered what kind of book Jamison was buying...she had one to show him. Truth be told, she was a little afraid to read the blooming thing! When Meri rolled her eyes, Emms just grinned. Such was the life a merchant, even a magical one. It would be good for the Harbor Master to remember that some of her victims..uhm, customers were powerful in their own right. [16:55] Emm'esta Thiadil: ((if we don't get out of here in 4 mins, we'll be stuck in the magic shop for the rest of the night!)) [16:55] Merialeth Windstar: ((Yea, y'all might want to scoot. [16:55] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater nodded lightly to Meri as he pulled out a silver piece as he approached her and handed it to her with a grin. "Right, I appreciate it." He winked at her as he nodded lightly to Emm and headed out the door, tucking the book under his arm as he did so.

(J. Enchanting, 2/8)
[21:58] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he settled into a seat and pulled out the ring he had been working on, capped off with an amethyst stone as he also pulled out the book on enchanting. "Right, here we go, enchanting the stone with a higher level spell. Let's see... a delicate touch is needed or else the spell might rebound." He shrugged lightly as he began to focus on the stone, trying to infuse it with a slow spell. As he did, he used the portal method he had devised, but when he did, he accidentally poured too much power into the stone. The spell backfired and dissipated, and when he looked again, the stone had cracked, but not broken. [22:00] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater sighed as he looked at the ring and scowled at it, again trying to infuse it with magic, but fearful that it might break the stone, he didn't pour enough power into it, and the spell ran out before it could ease into the portals. Scowling at it, he closed his eyes and muttered, "Alright, slow down and concentrate. Try a simpler spell first." As he did, he exhaled softly and infused the stone easily with a Mage Bolt spell. As he did so, he made sure to note every step he took, exactly how much power he used, and how long he kept the portals open and closed. And then he dispelled it and did it again. [22:01] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater continued this until he felt confident, noticing that it took about five seconds, no longer, for the spell to take. Bearing this in mind, he once again focused on the spell and pushed, not trying to force it, but also trying to hurry enough to make it through the five-second window. Right before time ran out, he severed the spell, and while the ring shook a bit for a few seconds, it eventually took and glowed slightly. Exhaling, he smiled down at the ring and commented, "Alright. Another step completed. Excellent."

[20:57] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater flashed a quick grin as he walked into the smithy, saying easily, "Evening, Kindo!" [20:58] KindoKindo tipped his brow toward the young Jamison, nodding quaintly at the fellow before shifting his gaze back to The Prophet who doted over his shelves still. "Find anything good this evenin'? I'm guessin' not, seeing as you came back to work?" [21:00] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater chuckled grimly as he moved over to the set of tools laid out on the table. "Anything good? Come now, Valesk looks like a ghost city at the moment. There's barely anything to even eat, much less do around here, so might as well distract myself by coming up with some designs. What about yourself?" [21:04] KindoKindo fortified his stance, pausing his attention on the Prophet briefly to step to the hunchback's backside and pat him on the shoulder. "Dab the handles of the die cues with the ash." He pivoted quickly around to point his body toward Jamison once more. "Waiting on a delivery to come from the Harbor. A crate of imported charcoal that was meant for the previous owner. Its likely to be of the same quality as the stuff we've got now...not good enough. But we kin' use it for some such good, I'm sure." [21:06] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater pushed a couple of tools off to the side and pulled out a stub of lead pencil from behind his ear, as well as a roll of parchment, which he began scribbling on as he replied, "Well, it's better than trying to work metal while it's completely cold. Though I can see why you'd be worried about quality control with regards to it. Where're we getting the charcoal from, anyways? I mean, if we're in a partnership with Denny, surely she's got contacts that can provide us with better materials to work with." [21:12] KindoKindo chuffed quickly in response to the man's inquiry, "I'd almost prefer it cold if it doesn't heat evenly. Uneven heatin' makes a hard job twice as hard." With a brief pause, he watched the man set to his draft with a small pang of bother that he resisted for the time being. "Wish I knew. It was ordered and paid for by the previous Master. Never had it picked up or shipped over. As fer' the Regal lady, we're not in a partnership and she didn't offer any contacts. Just more work. Work we won't be ready to perform until we kin' git' better supply lines. Its a damning situation...I'm startin' to think if we want to make better on it, we'll have to start fresh and do for ourselves. Lest' we be vexed." [21:16] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater began to draw out dimensions of a box, his eyes scanning the paper as he kept his ear turned towards his boss politely to show he was paying attention. "Fair point. And at least without charcoal you have an excuse not to get any work done," he agreed with a slight grin. "Starting ourselves... what do you suggest we do, start cutting down trees and burning them for charcoal ourselves? I mean, is what we're getting really that inferior?" [21:23] KindoKindo pointed his gaze briefly to the door leading out to the forge, catching sight of some their tools cast in a sickly yellow glow. "I am considering it. Though not strictly because of our fuel's inferior quality. Theres simply not enough of it to keep us tidy fer' too long. Once what we have is gone...maybe within the better side of a week, we'll be shite outta luck. Then we really will have to start cuttin' down trees. We've no apprentices to task that to either, merely our humble threesome. An frankly, you and Garrett are hardly the type I'd option up for swinging axes all day." [21:24] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater glanced over his shoulder with a droll grin as he replied, "Oh, come now! I'm not that weak! Why just last week, I was almost able to lift a half a sack of potatoes all by myself!" He chuckled as he finished the drawing, before sighing and glancing around for a bit of scrap iron, to test a theory that he had. [21:25] Wild Cote: ((Sorry, not quite done.)) [21:25] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater retrieved the bar and then paused, looking a bit more serious, and then thoughtful as he added, "Well... if you do need labor, I'm sure you could round up a few townsfolk that aren't doing anything under the pretense of buying them drinks for a hard day's work. It'd save you on the actual cost of labor and you could get the materials you need." [21:31] KindoKindo reached up with one wide arm and scratched in the divide between chunky knotted locks. "Oh well, I stand corrected then, ser. For give me, in those loose clothes I didn't recognize yer' might!" Chuckling in the wake of the shared joke, Kindo shifted with a few slow steps off to the side of the table Jamison worked at so that he might casually observe the man as he theorized and hashed at his paper. "That'd only work while theres food and ale to be promised to the laborers at the end of the day. But you make a point. Perhaps I kin' put a call out for it if our need is dire enough come this time next week. For now, I'd settle for havin' a fitted shop. She's gettin' there now, but still a bit of work to be done." [21:34] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Jamison Blackwater didn't bother hiding the work he'd scratched out on the paper. It appeared to be little more than a simple iron box, but inscribed above it were symbols in both Elven and Dwarven, along with four-pointed stars. Returning with the scrap iron, he set the bar down on the table and exhaled, saying softly to himself, "Right, first time trying to enchant a material other than a gemstone." Closing his eyes, he put a hand on the bar and exhaled. His method entailed opening a portal both within and outside the "skin" of the bar and forcing the enchantment to diffuse through it. He did this quickly, and then forced a simple spell through it that would cause it to glow if successful. For a few moments, he concentrated on the spell and nothing seemed to happen. Then, the iron began to glow a dull white color, and Jamison grinned and closed the portal. "Perfect," he said, dispelling the charm quickly, before looking up. "Sorry about that. If there's anything I can do to at least set the shop up, I'm [21:35] Wild Cote: *happy to.

[13:16] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) yawned as he approached Meri, flashing a faint grin at her as he asked, "Eyo, Meri. Got a minute?" [13:17] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) blinked out of her introspection, the path towards the Infirmary and Shrine before her, but she'd flick a glance as Jamison neared, dipping her head politely "Good afternoon, what can I help you with." [13:18] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) blinked, noticing that she seemed distracted, and he held up his hand, laughing lightly as he said, "Oh, it's trivial. If you're in the middle of something, I can bother you later." [13:19] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) shook her head, a glance cast towards him as she murmured "It's fine, what did you need?" [13:20] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) grinned sheepishly and said, "I'll make it quick, then. To further my enchantment studies, I wanted to get a book on alchemy, so that I could also get a perspective on how to enchant objects outside of the metals and gems I usually work with. As well as the fact that knowing some basic alchemy might come in useful anyways. [13:20] Wild Cote: *might be [13:23] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) had a momentary thought cross her mind, her brows furrowing and a speculative look crossing her features before she'd seem to shake herself out of it. "Oh, of course, stop by the shop when you can and I'll get one for you... Just Apprentice level, yes? I have a couple copies available..." Her expression smoothing as she nodded and gave a brief smile "I can head back there now and get it for you if you're in a rush." After all what she had to do would take some time, easier to get the little things first. [13:24] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) seemed uncomfortable, noticing that she seemed to be in a hurry, but at her offer of grabbing the book first, he tilted his head and ran his fingers under his chin. "I mean... if you're in the middle of something, I don't want to disturb you," he said slowly. "But yes, just apprentice level." He then tilted his head and added, "You okay? You seem distracted by something." [13:27] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) would have laughed if it hadn't been rude, the Blight and the fight to save the Isle and it's inhabitants from starvation and worse had been weighing on her. Distracted, indeed. "It's fine, may as well get that done first. I'll meet you there." with that spreading her wings and leaping upwards, the heavy downdrafts kicking up the dirt and bits of debris about them as she lifted herself higher and arrowed her way to the Tower. [13:28] The Auguriis Magic and Oddities Shop whispers: As you walk into the Auguriis, you are hit with an estrangement of different scents that are spread across the store; multiple herbs and magical ingredients, the occasional love potion, old books and scrolls, leather. An overly energetic and perky blonde haired male, Damien, is currently attending the store. Organizing and cleaning to his hearts content! Those with a magical ability will be able to sense that this store has been warded against thieves. [Any and all attempts to damage or steal from this property should be directed to the owner or an Admin.] [13:29] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) panted lightly as he finished climbing up the steep stone slope of the mountain and ran his fingers through his hair as he commented, "Right. Learn a flight spell, mental note." Grinning at her, he straightened up and folded his arms lightly over his chest as he added easily, "So do tell, how much is this one going to cost me, mm?" [13:33] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) had already sent Damien off to the upstairs to get the copy of the Alchemy primer, her bright green gaze flicking back to him as he panted his way in the door. Her lips curving as she murmured somewhat bemusedly "It does come in handy... Remember off the top of your head how much the Enchanting book was?" [13:35] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) scratched behind his ear as he said slowly, "I think you mentioned that it was something like a few silvers, though I can't recall the exact amount." He then paused for a moment and tilted his head. "By the by, I had a question for you about enchantment, if you have a moment. Just how skilled in the art are you? Because I wanted to run an idea that I had by you and see if it was feasible." [13:38] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) had it written down somewhere of course, but with all the shifting about, well - "Call it good at two silvers..." She'd shrug slightly then smile as the blond came out from the back room, handing over the book to Meri, then dipping his head politely to Jamison as he moved back to sorting the potions in the corner. Meri'd flick a glance over at the question then with a slight shrug of one shoulderand rustle of her wing, she'd murmur "I'm trained as a Grandmaster..." It was all part & parcel of who she was, and didn't place any huge emphasis on it "What was the question?" as she settled the book to the counter. [13:41] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) smiled faintly as he dug into his pocket and withdrew a pair of silvers, thankful that in all the chaos lately, at least business had been decent. Looking back up, he clasped his hands behind his back and said, "See... during this famine, I've been using a spell I have called Nature's Bounty to turn plant seeds into food. Now, obviously, vegetables aren't very filling, but it's kept me from starving. So the idea that I have is enhancing the spell by enchanting something like a cauldron with the spell. By doing this, the idea that I have is to put a handful of seeds into the cauldron, add water, close it up, wait, and then open it back up to reveal something like a bushel of apples or a large salad. Obviously, this would be a difficult process, and wouldn't create much more than rations. But if the produce was handed out to the starving populace, perhaps it could at least slow the famine that's been going around." [13:49] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) nodded in understanding, her murmur of "Ah, such as what's being done with the Wardens right now. The daily rations they have been providing are from a similar source..." Of course Meri wouldn't bother mentioning what that source was, but it was the thought that counted. "I'm sure additional help in that sort of endeavour might be appreciated to spread the work and impact, though it wouldn't work quite that way, or doesn't for what has been done to date..." [13:51] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) tilted his head lightly, curiously, but decided not to press her, since she didn't seem to be interested in divulging more. Coughing lightly, he ran his hand along the back of his neck and continued, "Well... the problem lies in the fact that even the largest cauldron is not enough to provide much more than one meal, and I fear that with my mediocre skill at the moment, I can't even enchant the cauldron with the necessary spell. And even if I could, I'm afraid that it might not last for very long..." [13:56] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) furrowed her brows slightly, the tip of her head as she murmured "Why use a cauldron at all, you're growing food, not growing a dinner? Make up a planter box, or prepare some earth... plant the seeds, cast the spell? As in Nature, things need room to grow, if you confine them, yes your harvest would be limited as well. You don't need to enchant a container, simply use the spell." Her words soft as usual, no sense of derision or frustration in her tones, simply confusion as to why he would choose to limit what his Magic would allow. [13:58] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) smiled lightly as he ran his fingers under his chin, chuckling lightly. "Because I'm a smith, not a farmer. And what I'm trying to do is make the magic available to the populace, rather than confining it to a select group of mages. But a planter box... hm. That might not be a bad idea, enchanting a planter box filled with soil with the enchantment, so that people might be able to, once a day, grow a few vegetables to eat. Think that might work?" [14:03] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) tipped her head listening "Ah, see you spoke originally as if you were wishing to do such to help others, hence my reply. The location would not matter if you had that intention in mind. Creating something for someone with no talent of their own however would require something for it to feed from, and if not a Magical source..." Her brows furrowed once more, thinking, fingers tapping lightly at the cover of the book as she pondered. A moment's pause then nodding softly "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work." [14:04] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) smiled faintly as he scratched the back of his head and replied, "Well, what I was considering was something of a battery, perhaps an enchanted minor stone of some sort, like a piece of quartz. When said piece of stone was drained, the user could return it to the enchanter for it to be recharged, perhaps for a small fee. Hells, it could even make for a decent business model," he added with a sly grin. [14:09] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) just sighed faintly, that grin dropping any hint of a smile from her lips as she murmured "So, the book is two silver... was there anything else you might need today?" The shift from helping the folk of the Isle and reverting the Blight into business bothered Meri and the rustle of her wings tugging tight to her back made it more than apparent that he'd have to discover the means of powering on his own. She'd lift that cool green gaze to his, head tilted slightly and waited for his reply before releasing the book into his grip. Were circumstances different it might not have bothered the Elf, but - as it was? It did. [14:12] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) noticed Meri glowering at him, and he laughed and held up his hands. "Easy, easy! I'm kidding! For one thing, withholding goods from the people that need them the most is what's gotten us into this mess in the first place, what with the trade problems. And I'm not going to squeeze people for a few coppers when I make more than enough for myself as it is. But the enchanting the stone idea I think might be a good one, might even be a revolutionary idea for future inventions I might have," he added, scratching his chin. "But don't worry. As I said, I want to bring magic to the populace, and when peasants can barely afford farm tools, it'd be folly to charge them for such a service. It wouldn't solve the problem." He then paused and considered. "There is one other thing. I have an order to craft a crown for the new Tari, and I was wondering if there were any spells you might be willing to contribute to its enchantment for her protection. I intend to make it a truly legendary artifact if I can." [14:17] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) just lifted a brow at his comment of 'trade problems' as if the Blight had anything to do with the change in travel of the Isle, and the lack of ships docking. It certainly had nothing to do with the raving Harbor Master. She'd let it go however and turn her mind to the more important thought of Emma's crown. Of course she'd have one, it just hadn't occurred to Meri to want such a thing. Her brows furrowed in thought, then murmured a quiet "What did you have in mind?" Her gaze darting up again to him as she perused him carefully. [14:19] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) tilted his head for a moment, biting his lower lip. "Well... a queen needs to be protected from assassination and assault. So I wanted to make the crown a defensive artifact, brimming with spells to prevent her assault. I was going to include an armor spell, as well as a few spells that might allow her to flee from an unpleasant situation, but I lack spells that would do things like repel supernatural influences and the like." [14:24] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) just blinked at him, her head tilting the other way as she listened to his description and intent. "Few? There is no material that would support so much Magic... three enchantments, no more would any one object bestow... you will have to consider and choose your effects carefully. Even the materials themselves are important in the choosing of such. You'll need to do some research to determine what might best serve the purpose and still retain what youwish." [14:25] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) laughed and ran his fingers along the back of his neck. "And this is why I came to you first instead of trying to do things myself. Alright, fair enough. I'll be back once I've thought on it more. I have to go meet her anyways to discuss the aesthetics of her crown. Was there anything else you wanted from me, Meri?" [14:27] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) still held the book under her fingertips atop the counter, the coins were still in his hand untendered as she chuckled softly and shook her head. "Only if you want your book..." the soft purr of laughter on her breath as she watched him bemusedly [14:30] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) stuck his tongue out as he deposited the coins on the countertop with a sheepish grin. "Right, sorry about that." [14:32] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) tried to restrain her merriment, the few joys she got from her usually quiet life as she slid the book his direction then offered a polite "I wish you the best of luck in your studies, and hope that you're able to fashion what you need." Her words meant with all honesty and sincerity. "Until next time." for she was sure, there would be. [14:32] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) winked at her as he replied, "Oh, I certainly hope so as well. And I'll be back before too long, no doubt. Fair winds, Meri!"

[16:27] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) sighed lightly as he moved towards the forge, stretching as he did so to begin lighting a fire. Over his shoulder, he heard the rustling of armor and he paused to turn and flash a grin at the newcomer, saying easily, "Ah, good day." [16:30] Pug EnthusiastPug Enthusiast (becauseofreasons) was let in after explaining her situation to the guards at the entrance, the expressions upon their faces were most curious. As she enters the keep her immediate registry is that of the cages, telling her it was an organisation of some sort, an order. Hearing someone by the blacksmith she turns her head and immediately walks over at quite a fast pace to address the jolly greeting. "Good day Sir, I am not of this land and I seek refuge, duty and sustenance. May I most humbly ask where it is that I have awoken?" [16:30] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon was let in after explaining her situation to the guards at the entrance, the expressions upon their faces were most curious. May I most humbly ask where it is that I have awoken?" [16:33] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) paused for a moment as he pulled on a set of heavy leather gloves before walking over to the bellows and beginning to work them, considering the fire already burning brightly in the forge. "Refuge, duty, and sustenance. Well, the first two we can help you with, but the third we're just now starting to regain. But no matter. You're on the Isle of Valesk. And there's no need to be formal with me," he added with a wry grin as the coals in the bed of the pit began to glow. [16:35] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon relaxes her shoulders and drops the formal posture once the blacksmith requires less formality. She offers a humble, yet slightly awkward smile and nods. "Valesk", she repeats. "And may I ask what this establishment is?", she looks over her shoulder. "An order of some nature?". Her crows caw softly and tilt their heads at the blaze and smell of the forge. [16:39] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) laughed as he disappeared into the shop for a moment, returning with a small bar of silver in his hands as he replied, "This? This is a smithy." He grinned at her cheekily as he dropped the bar of metal into the coals and once again tugged on the bellows, causing the fire to flare even hotter. "No, in all seriousness, you're standing in the Warden's Keep. The Wardens are an order on this island dedicated to protecting the people of the island from... well, almost anything, frankly, but specifically supernatural threats." [16:42] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon nods very slowly and folds her arms. "...then I have come to the right place", she gives him a more friendly and warmer smile now. "I'm Mikayla Moon of the Ordo Sancti Benedicti; my goals there were the same as the goals within these walls it would seem". She takes a few steps towards the forge. "I say... how much would it cost me to have this vest treated for rust?", she looks down at her plated vest that is starting to turn a less metallic colour. [16:45] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) smiled warmly at her as the bar of silver began to glow from the heat, and he gave the bellows a final tug before turning to face her. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance then. Jamison Blackwater," he added by way of greeting. "I'd shake your hand, but I don't want to burn you at the moment." He then paused for a moment and added, "At a glance? No more than a couple of silvers, and likely far less than that considering that it's only a polishing job. But I'm not the one you want to talk to about that," he added with a sheepish grin. "I only work precious metals, though you can put in an order if you wanted the blacksmith to take a look at it." [16:49] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon frowns with concern and folds her arms. "Ah, I'll wait until I possess the coin to order something new I think. It's.. sort of lived its time I believe. I will most definitely keep it for sentimental value however". She looks over her shoulder at the keep yard again. "Who is in charge here? At the Warden's Keep?" [16:51] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) paused for a moment to glance down at the bar of glowing silver. Waving his hand upward slightly, the bar lifted up out of the coals and hovered a few inches from his face, where he inspected it for a moment before clicking his tongue and setting it back in the coals. "Heat faster, dammit." Turning back to her, he replied, "Off the top of my head? I think Batman is the one you'd want to talk to, though I don't think he's around here at the moment. Stick around here long enough and one of the Wardens can probably point you his way, though. [16:55] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon nods. "Batman", she continues to look over her shoulder at the npc wardens walking back and forth, patrolling the walls. "Is Valesk often under threat of darkness and ill willed deeds?", she looks back to Jamison. "I've just arrived from a small parish, preyed on mercilessly by the wicked.. this settlement appears much bigger, I only imagine the circumstances here". [16:57] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) chuckled lightly as he walked over and pulled on the bellows once more, the coals flaring once more, and he kept one eye on the bar while replying, "It comes and goes, let me put it that way. We recently recovered from a blight, which isn't exactly something you just stab, but on other occasions we've had attacks from mad lycanthropes and shadow creatures. So there's no short of work for a fighter. What was your previous station?" he added, tilting his head. [16:57] Wild Cote: *no shortage [17:02] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon looks at the crow on her left before giving Jamison a returned chuckle. "I work in more.. diplomatic matters. I'm stationed behind the scenes, taking care of negotiations and sensitive political matters. Though if I am needed on the battlefield, I am there in a heartbeat". She takes a breath and watches what Jamison does at the forge. [17:06] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) raised an eyebrow. "That right?" he replied, once more levitating the bar out of the hot coals, though this time he kept the now soft metal in place as he slid a mold beneath it. Keeping the metal in place with one hand, he seemed to magically pull drops of molten silver off with the other, all while keeping the entire thing suspended in midair as he slowly placed drops of the metal into the mold. "So you're more of an inquisitor or rogue than straight fighter?" [17:09] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon nods slowly. "Sort of like that.. yes", she seems distracted by the bizarre practice at the forge. "...that is unique", her green eyes lock onto him. "Are you a mage?", she looks to the crow on her right shoulder. "I know only of one, it was he who somehow summoned me to this place.. for what reason I do not know". [17:12] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) laughed as he suddenly pulled an entire long, thin strand of metal out of the floating bar and laid it into an extremely thin chain mold surrounding the main circular platform in the center. "I am indeed, though I'm not the sort that shoots fire out of my hands, typically," he replied as he gently laid the metal into the molding. "I specialize in magic that uses raw force and telekinesis, as well as magic that actually cancels out other spells. I find it to be more practical than just spraying lightning everywhere," he added, glancing over with a wink. "And it's fun surprising people who come to the forge expecting men with arms the size of tree trunks to be bashing at iron with a hammer," he added, his grin widening. [17:15] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon nods to him. Her eyes may have shown she was on record mode so to speak, remembering every detail, she'd been so used to soaking up as much information as she could for her former duty it was second nature. "I see... so... if I ever find myself with some sort of poisoning from an arrow wound, I should come to you?", she gives a friendly smile. One of the crows land on the crate beside her to peak curiously inside. [17:19] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) didn't seem to notice how suddenly inquisitive she was, instead seeming more than glad to answer her questions. "Ah... well, I suppose that I could try to brew an antidote," he answered slowly. "But the ones you'd want to speak with would be the healers. They know spells and potions that are far more effective than anything I could conjure up. Magic has specializations because no one person understands everything about magic. So if you were to get wounded or poisoned, like you said, you'd want to seek out someone who knows healing magic. There's an entire order dedicated to doing just that, actually," he added. [17:22] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon gives a bright friendly smile. "Forgive me, Jamison. My knowledge of magic is about as basic as present as my knowledge of this new land I am in". She points in the direction of the large building across the yard. "Am I allowed to take refuge in there? Given that the guards will be informed of the situation of course". [17:22] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon OOC: *about as present as [17:27] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) chuckled as he held up his hand, and then twisted his wrist suddenly. The thin strand of wire twisted in kind, sending a rippling pattern along it that caused the soft metal to warp in on itself, creating a rippling, twisted rope-like pattern that would hold together far more effectively than simple chain links, and yet was delicate enough that it would still retain a string-like quality. As he let that cool, he answered, "Of course. The Warden's Keep, I believe, is open to anyone seeking refuge, after all, so long as you don't have ill intent." [17:29] Mikayla MoonMikayla Moon OOC: Bed time for me. very late! Thank you so much for the rp! [17:30] Wild Cote: ((Course! Night!)) [17:32] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) sighed lightly, then reached into his pocket and withdrew the heart stone that he had been given. Frowning at it, he murmured to himself, "I wonder...." He closed his eyes and concentrated on the stone, attempting to open up a portal to its heart. However, as he did, he found the portal being rejected by the stone, and it bounced out of his hand, much to his surprise. He quickly caught it before it fell into the coals, but then stared at it in surprise. "So some materials can't be enchanted," he murmured. "But why?"

[19:57] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) sighed as he tugged his coat a bit tighter over his shoulders, shivering slightly as he muttered to himself, "And it's times like these that I miss the desert and the jungle." Glancing over at Meri, he flashed her a grin as he said easily, "Hello hello. Figured I'd show you something." He grinned as he held up a silver ring and tossed it to her, but before it would reach her, it suddenly stopped and hovered in midair in front of her. [20:15] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) was waiting to see what or if Gavin had answered her at all, and so wasn't prepared in the slightest for the ring to go flying at her, her hands lifting not to catch it but bat it away from her. Instant self-defense reflex, her eyes flicking towards him and backing a step away, her wings curling around her shoulders as she nodded slowly "Ah, levitation... nicely done..." looking at him a bit confused as to why he'd be throwing rings at her, then offering a faint smile, til Gavin replied. Her look of relief evident as she nodded and gave him a smile "I look forward to it..." then dipped her head politely to Jamison, and finished moving towards the taven. [20:17] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) chuckled gently as he held the ring in midair, turning to follow Meri, and shook his head, saying easily, "That's not it. Sorry, I should have explained." He reached out through magic and drew the ring towards him, catching it in his palm, and he held it out to her. "See, I've got a question for you. And I was showing off, which I apologize about. See, I enchanted this ring with an anti-magic spell, but now I've found it impossible to disenchant or to add other spells to it. Kind of a catch-22, if you will. Got any ideas on how to fix it?" [20:25] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) tipped her head as he followed her to the table, pausing just before she'd sit next to Nixie. Her head tilted, brows furrowed as she listened, then nodded softly, considering the question at hand, her hand resting on Nixie's chair with an apologetic glance before replying to Jamison. "Well, that's an interesting concept... Not something I've tried before, though I can't say I'm surprised... As far as eliminating the enchantment... The only thing I could think of would be to melt the ring down, break its form, and perhaps that would help ..." Fading off and furrowing her brows again. "It's a bit of a trial to be sure." [20:27] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) chuckled as he closed his hand around the ring. "Well, I figured it'd be an interesting concept when making armor for warriors who can't use magic in the first place. If they were surrounded by an anti-magic aura, it'd be highly beneficial for them, since they could just shrug off hostile spells. But unfortunately, so far as I can tell, it dispels literally any other enchantment, including ones put on it previously. So if we could find a way to work around that, it could prove highly beneficial." [20:38] Merialeth WindstarMerialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) just blinked a moment, it was late and she honestly wasn't thinking anything Magical at all. She'd just look at him and finally say "I'll have to consider this later, sorry - I'm ..." fading off then giving a faint smile to Nixie in apology, murmuring to her "I'm sorry - I think I'm going to head back home. I need to change out of this... getup, and something more me." then back to Jamison, "I'll... think on it." She'd head out towards the stairs down, offering a smile to Gavin and murmur of "Have a good night, ok?" before patting his shoulder and heading out of sight. [20:39] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) blinked, then nodded lightly and smiled down at the ring in his hand. "Right, fair enough," he replied with a chuckle and a grin, inclining his head to her. "I'll see what I can come up with on my own as well. But thanks, Meri. We'll chat more another time."
[21:10] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) sighed as he shook his head and sank into one of the open seats, reaching into his coat and pulling out a book as he murmured to himself, "Well... in the meanwhile, I may as well study up on alchemy...."
[21:10] [Tia] Breakfast Table Chair 4: Hi Wild Cote! Touch me to change and/or adjust pose.
[21:12] Rianoc (Cathartic Resident)Rianoc (Cathartic Resident) walks up the steep stairs, cut in hasty jags along the hill, with grace but no sense of purpose. Tonight was for seeing what was out there and not dictating what should be done. When she arrives at the top of the hill she looks around at the small buildings, for life and for danger and spots jumps as Makki makes a lot of movement and have understood noises at her back. She chuckled, and then headed to the tavern, nodding with a smile to the other patrons if they looked her way.
[21:13] ArcturusArcturus (arcturushighking) would tilt his head to the side, "a pleasure Nixie..to grace me with your name.. as for enchanting.. i'm a warrior.. as well as a dancer.. but magic bobbles and such have always held my interest.. just as well as rare artifacts.. though i'm certain my attire tonight makes me seem no more than a fop.."
[21:18] NixieNixie (adalori) laughed lightly, the sound echoing lyrically just as her voice did. "I can imagine I look the same. Quite silly in such lander garb." wrinkling her nose and looking down at the dress, though she did have to be rather pleased with the way the bottom flared out, reminding her of her tail at least. "I am well versed in such things. It started as a hobby of mine but I have excelled at it, both the study and crafting of such things." here her voice held actual interest and passion as she spoke of her craft rather than the calm neutrality normally shown.
[21:19] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) paused for a moment flipping through his book to glance over the rim of it at Arcturus, and a wide grin spread over his lips as he called out, "Man after my own heart. You and I should chat later, if you're interested in magic, baubles, or any combination of the two. I happen to be the town goldsmith, and also a former treasure hunter in my own right, so I've got things to offer you from both a professional and entertainment perspective. That goes for you as well, miss," he added with a nod at Nixie, before flipping a page and murmuring to himself, "The properties of wyvern hide, greater and lesser...."
[21:23] Rianoc (Cathartic Resident)Rianoc (Cathartic Resident) lifted a hand to signal Helga, and gave the woman a rich laugh when a bawdy joke was told to her as she ordered. "Helga, your witticisms add to my day." Her fingers nimbly untied the coin pouch from around her owl's neck and she pulled out enough coin to cover the mulled wine with a nice tip on top. She redid the tie and Deiveren hopped back onto her shoulder, nuzzling the side of her face. Listened to the banter of the men, and the woman's practiced tone her own mouth staying still but to sip from the drink that Helga swiftly brought back for her.
[21:28] NixieNixie (adalori) blinked at the sudden interjection, just... starring with those pale eyes at the one at the table. She was still cross with that one for making Meri flinch earlier, finishing or at least summarizing what was in the book with a now cool tone that mimicked the waters she hailed from. "The Lesser Wyvern hide must be stripped of magic with a special alchemical mixture, then have the magic restored to the hide during the tanning process. It provides a robust barrier against both physical and magical attacks. Greater Wyvern hides are tanned differently on a case by case basis as all are different and a steady hand and eye must be used in the process, they provide the same benefits as a Lesser Wyvern though to greater effect." she would finish off, still in that cool tone a little bit of -don't really need the help- in spite for, in her eyes, driving the winged friend of hers off.
[21:29] Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar)Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar) turns about, having most certainly been here the entire time... and what was he doing, you might ask? Why, cooking, of course! Being the cook and all, that's what he generally does. Looking about at the patrons, he would smile and say "Hello there, all." as he steps up to the front and grabs a mug, which he fills with mead. COOKING can make a person pretty thirsty. Bringing the mead up to his lips, he would sip at it as he looks about the tavern and at all the people sitting within
[21:30] ArcturusArcturus (arcturushighking) would smile and would lift his tankard up as he took another drink, "maybe you'd like to go down by the water Idani? least you can be more comfortable then.. but you have my interest for certain.." he'd glance behind himself over at the goldsmith, "I shall have to seek you out some time I should think then.. perhaps.." he'd blink at Nixie as she rattled off information, "well.. right then.. ahh.."
[21:32] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) glanced up from the book in surprise, and he grinned at Nixie, not seeming to notice the cold stare she was giving him. "Exactly!" he said brightly as he set the book down and inclined his head. "Seems like you've got a much better grasp on this than I do. I'm impressed. D'you think you could give me a hand with studying this sometime when you're not as busy?" He then nodded at Arcturus and grinned wider as he replied, "Aye, I'd rather like that." Turning to Gerald, he held up his hand, "Ah... could I get a glass of white wine when you've got a chance, please?"
[21:36] Rianoc (Cathartic Resident)Rianoc (Cathartic Resident) chuckles softly as the woman, Nixie, teaches the man what he is looking for in his book without a beat missed. Her eyes slide over to him, and she watches, curious his reaction. As the other drow speaks she shakes her head, and takes another sip of the spiced drink, her plump lips slacking so some of the wine wets them. She then allows her warm laugh to extend out to the room, and riases her glass in salute to the woman. "You have caught two men up in your net tonight. My applause." Lowering her arm, eyes on the woman, she says without looking to Gerald, "It smells delicious back there. Keep it up." Yet she makes no mention of wanting to eat, simply words of encouragement- for whatever reason...perhaps she thought he looked tired, or sad, when she had walked in earlier.
[21:40] Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar)Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar) gestures over to Helga as the woman comes to grab a goblet and fill it with the requested wine for Jamison. "She don't like me touching the fancy stuff..." he explains as the tankard is brought around to Jamison and set on the table. "Can't say as I see why... but if she wants to do it." he shrugs. Looking over to Rianoc at the compliment, he would blink a bit before saying "Oh, uhm... thanks. I'm glad you like the smell."
[21:41] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident)Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident) came up to the tavern quietly padding all the way, small pooka in tow. Both laughing here and there. As he saw the Idani conversing with the two men he'd roll his eyes, already reeling them in it'd seem. He'd brush against the Idani as he headed in stilll making Makki giggle now and then before ordering himself a drink at the bar and coming back to sit across the table from the Idani, he'd let Makki sit closer should she wish to.
[21:45] Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai)Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai) was walking on all fours in her critter crawl sort of way, almost following Sin'istram like an animal companion may. Which essentially she nearly was just that in a lot of ways. She'd go in through the archways and climb up on the table, still on all fours in her critter squatted sitting position, at first noting there was no Meri or Gavin. That made her pout, but her eyes rolled around to the drow that had been at the party. She leaned in closer, sniffing at him and giving him an 'I've got my eyes on you' sort of look. Like yeah, mess with her and I'll claw your eyes out, but it only lasted for a moment or two since the squirrel like minded Pooka got redirected onto Rianoc, to whom she'd grin and wave to, and then to the man behind the counter who was talking about things smelling. Off the other side of the table she went and up to the counter, though she really couldn't see over it since she stood at a whopping four and a half feet short, so onto that she would climb, nose up in the air sniffing at all
[21:45] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) of the things till her eyes landed on Gerald himself. It was highly likely that he was getting flashed, just for the record, seeing as the fabric was still just hanging on her and she never did go find real clothes. "Yas tah be 'avin 'oney?"
[21:46] NixieNixie (adalori) just took another drink from her tankard, she would have to work on her cold glaring apparently.... Okay, admittedly, she was being a huge bitch but in her mind it was justified!! Turning to look at the woman's praise she had to smirk a bit, oh if she only knew.... dipping her head in acknowledgment. Nixie would cast a glance back at the hooded figured, as the brush alerted her to his presence and a genuine smile cracking her face at the sight of Makki trailing behind him, mood completely improved. "Tala Hunter." she would greet her Sin'istram with a nod. "It would seem the party has barely started, though I would be glad to discuss more with you here as well Arcturus."
[21:47] ArcturusArcturus (arcturushighking) would turn his head to see that yet another drowess had popped up! he'd give a slight nod of his head, "vendui'..." he'd turn to look back at Jamison, "we'll swap stories.." he'd glance over to the hooded figure that sat down with them offering them a nod of his head. he'd turn his head to Nixie, "of course.. what is the.. scope of enchanting.. what can and can you not do? what is able to be enchanted? what does it take? what materials.."
[21:50] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) grinned at Gerald as he replied easily, "Crushed spoiled grapes are crushed spoiled grapes. Charging me an extra fifty copper because it tastes slightly different never made sense to me." He counted out ten copper coins and gently floated them to the counter, sparing the man from having to collect them himself when he left. He then took the tankard with a nod to Helga and sipped at it before replying to Arcturus, "Aye, sounds good to me!" Noticing that Nixie hadn't responded, he merely smiled calmly at her and added, "Another time when you're not as busy, perhaps, then." He then turned back to the book and murmured, "Elf water, crushed herbs...."
[21:56] Rianoc (Cathartic Resident)Rianoc (Cathartic Resident) just sits there with a smile as Gerald says thank you, it appears she thinks he should be thanking her for the encouragment- after all what does a hard working man need more than for a woman to give him a slap on the back and tell him he is fantastic? As the hooded man strolls in she leans forwards, her elbows on the table and hands clasped around her glass so it is in directly in front of her mouth, mostly her reddish purple eyes all that is shining out from the darkness of her face. She had given the woman a wry smirk back prior, but now she was wondering who she was, and her eyes narrowed----until Makki came sniffing and scurrying in. She lowerd her glass and returned the wave, "Makki! It is a pleasure to see you out. My, what a lovely ensemble." She inded thought the wrapping of cloth suited the adorable pooka. Her smile falters as the drow male takes notice of her, and she tips her head back, and while she is paying attention to the others she is always coming back to him, watching for...something.
[21:56] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) She closed her eyes, and pictured the tiny windows that were shutting off her flow of mana, and she began to open them one by one. Soon her muscles were flush, rich it. When she opened her eyes the world was distinct with electric lines.
[21:57] Poptart: ((a slap on the face and tell him to get back to work?))
[21:58] NixieNixie (adalori) hunkered down into her drink, ready for a merry little chat about enchanting and looking rather pleased with the prospect. Oh dear Makki was flashing the barkeep... "You know Makki I do not see why I can not get away with such things.." sulking ever so slightly at the finery she had been stuffed into, never mind she had tangled the Pooka up in pretty silks earlier, of course.... Though... she did begin tugging at the things Meri had stuffed into her hair to get it to stay as it did, comb and pretty flowers tugged out to let everything tumble blissfully down her shoulders with a content sigh. Glancing over at the one reciting from his book with a slight scowl as he continued on about the studying... "Perhaps..." she would say lowly, a slight hiss filtering into the second timbre of her voice.. NOW back to buisness, another drink taken from her tankard before turning back to Arcturus with a pleased expression. "Well that depends on the enchanter of course, some are more learned than others. Obviously a
[21:58] Nixie: Grandmaster can preform more than an Apprentice. There are quite a few spells that can be enchanted onto an object, obviously the more complex the spell the more learned the enchanter must be and the more rare the components to craft it."
[21:59] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident)Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident) would nod to Nixie and chuckle warmly at the Pooka as she carried out her antics. He'd look back to Nixie with a smirk. "Sesuma?" He'd say plainly looking to those nearby. He'd look down at his drink and realized absently that he'd not paid for it. The Hunter quickly stood and plopped down an few coins amidst a few odd ball pearl. Money was such a strange concept...still.
[22:00] Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar)Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar) looks to the odd little creature that comes walking... crawling? in, watching as it hops up onto the table, and then onto the counter... where drinks are put... he frowned a little at this as he watched the creature sniff at the air, and then inquire about honey. He didn't notice the creature's lack of clothing... rather, he never noticed such things... they held no interest to him anymore. His concern was that this creature was on his counter... so figuring the best way to get it off would be to serve it, he would nod his head slowly, saying "Yes... we have honey. Would you like it in something? Like honey milk?" He would then shrug to Jamison "Well... they put other things in it, too. I talked with a wine maker once about it, he said they put yeast in it, and sugars, and other things... and they have to have barrels of it sit in cool, dry places for years... so... well, I guess you're paying for a glass of something that took years to make... it's not too bad." And unto Rianoc, he didn't say anything
[22:00] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) else, as... there was nothing to be said... simply the note that baking is very much his life... even his last name is Baker... encouragement for him to keep baking is not much needed, though appreciated.
[22:07] Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai)Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai) seemed to look at Gerald in utter amazement as he suggested honeymilk. She'd never tried such a thing, mostly opting to just...ya know...eat honey itself. She was totes hardcore about that honey, man. She'd nod her head slowly at the prospect of such a thing, distracted only when Rianoc spoke in her direction. She looked down at herself and sort of fixed how she was covered, pointing at the Idani afterwards. "She dids it tah meh! Threw it at me anna I flailed an got tangled! Said I 'adda dress purdy fer tha party." Which she supposed Nixie actually had the right idea just draping fabric, though it hadn't turned into so much of a drape as being mummified, or something thereabouts. She was oblivious to the fact that there was something wrong with sitting on tables and counters. No one ever really got onto her for it so she just kept doing it. Plus....some needed to be more short people friendly! She was a midget cricket! Gerald would get his way, however, and she'd sidetrack, hopping back off the counter
[22:07] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) and moving over to the table with Nixie and Sin'istram, at first going for the table again but since everyone else was in chairs, she climbed into the chair instead, sitting in her normal crouched way, but at least in the chair. She'd sit her newly acquired dagger on the chair in front of her as well, between her feet, and act like she'd been part of the conversation the entire time.
[22:09] ArcturusArcturus (arcturushighking) would grin and nod towards Jamison before he'd return his attention to the table.. he was still trying to figure out why that little one had given him the death glare.. what had he done wrong he wondered.. his violet hues would turn towards the drowess as she spoke to the little one.. so Makki was her name apparently.. a motion from Nixie's way pulled his attention back to her, seeing her long hair tumbling down as he listened to her, "suppose you were the enchanter.. and someone wanted.. some boots that would make them a bit faster... what would that take?"
[22:13] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) continued to flip blithely through the pages, but paused when he heard Gerald's comment, and he peered into the tankard before commenting, "Well... alright, fair point. And I suppose that it is quite a bit of work getting the taste just right, so I shouldn't disparage it," he added with a grin. "Hm... by blending the spells together-" However, at Arcturus' question, he paused, and even though he didn't want to interrupt again, he felt his fingers twitching on the cover of the book, since it was an answer he could provide. But he HAD noticed the death glare from Nixie and saw no reason to interrupt her further, instead concentrating that much harder on studying.
[22:14] Rianoc (Cathartic Resident)Rianoc (Cathartic Resident) 's hands settle the glass onto the table with a light clink, and looks over at the drow taking him in, then stares with a glazed expression out at nothing, her sight unfocused. Her right hand raises at the wrist until it is chest high and she draws a square, which looks much like a little room, leaving a silver indent in the air. Her lips are moving, but make no sound as the same finger draws the glyph for 'stop' on the outside of the four walls of the box. They also are visible as transparent lines. The movement of her lips increases, and she searches for the mana laying inside the man- reaching out to it, trying to draw it close to her. He might feel something slight, like a tingle or a want to move towards her, but most likely he would feel nothing at all, especially if he had little mana to give.
[22:21] NixieNixie (adalori) remembered the deal she had made with a certain Pooka as she drew the match to the ornate chain she'd made for the fae out of her pouch. "You looked lovely Makki though you were not supposed to thrash around so." letting the fae hook this one onto the other side of her antlers. The dagger catching her eye and making her laugh, pale gaze flitting to the Sin'istram with an arch of brow, giving a slight shake of her head to answer his question... she turned, quite ready to answer Arcturus when the motions of the other woman caught her attention, pale gaze flaring brightly and those wisps starting up more noticeably around her eyes. "What is that you are doing there?" her voice echoed, loudly, but her tone was deceptively curious.
[22:23] Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident)Sin'istram (w0mbraider Resident) would raise an eyebrow as the Idani talked shop to those nearby though he wouldn't hold it against her since he'd done the same just this morning. His brow furrowed as the female drow in the corner began practicing her magic. His eyes would flick to the Idani, a troubled look on his face. His left hand would fall to his side, near his blade. The other would grasp the drink in front of him.
[22:24] Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar)Gerald Baker (gadget Cyberstar) watched the small creature as it turned and ran off.. then hummed slightly... he seems to always find the strangest creatures... or they find him... and they usually seem to him like squirrels with crippling ADHD on a caffeine rush. Then again, he is very slow... so turning, he would fix up some nice warm honey milk for the creature, and would bring it around, setting the mug in front of the thing that is now sitting prettily on a chair like a people. Turning his attention to Jamison, he would nod, grinning. "Everyone's got their trade... and sometimes simple things take the most time." with those words of wisdom imparted, he would move back behind the counter, still not taking those coins that floated over... heee didn't like hoodoo, and wasn't going to take hoodoo coins... he'd leave that to Helga. He then notices one person off to the side doing some more hoodoo, drawing glowing things in the air... and he felt a small shudder... he wasn't paying attention to the conversation, but he knows at least
[22:24] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) two of these people do hoodoo, and one is doing it right now while the other did it just a little bit ago.
[22:25] Sira'Kess: ((Is now going to refer to magic as hoodoo.))
[22:26] SolnilSolnil rolled the bolt continually between fingers, rolling through featureless bits of information in his head. Some part of it was memorization, getting comfortable with roaming the Proper he'd intend to exact his will on. It was all part of the process. The bolt tumbled head over nock and Solnil histled quite boisterously as they rose up the steps into upper Aberwyth. Moving on toward the tavern, he gave the place that was noticeably alive a wide berth so as to give himself space to analyze the denizens inside. Just another night. One patron in particular caught his eye, and through rose colored glass, his beady red eyes scrutinized the only female sitting alone in the establishment. Her complexion was known to him, and he bore a seething hate for its familiarity. Solnil's gaze snapped toward Driia, gesturing linguistics toward her through his meticulous grappling with the bolt in hand.
[22:32] Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai)Makkitotosimew (Kaija Arai) considered herself to be more like a squirrel on crack but...whatever description works best! Makki grinned at Nixie, trying to look all adorable and innocent, though it quickly fell when she caught sight of the shiny promised to her for behaving. That was about as close to behaving as she could get while awake to be fair. She leaned in as Nixie put it on an antler and bopped her head from side to side, letting all the little trinkets dangling from it clank up till Gerald brought the honey milk and sat it down. She beamed at him in thanks and investigated what this honey milk was, sticking her nose in the mug till she was satisfied with it's smell and began to chugalug it down. Her tail twitched happily and she lowered it till it clanked fairly loudly on the table. "Yas tah be mah newest not best friend friend nah!" she proclaimed to him simply because he introduced her to something she now loved. She was aware of castings going on, but wasn't paying much mind to it. She also didn't really notice that
[22:32] (Unnamed)(Unnamed) Nixie saw the dagger or the gesture that Sin'istram made towards Nixie. It took her a second to realize she hadn't even thanked Nix and her attention went back to the Idani. "Tanks yas fer tah shinies an stoofs tahday...even if'n yas wrapped me up in...." she wasn't really sure what the stuff was called. Yeah, it was pretty, and yeah, she'd grown to like it a little bit but....likely not enough to wear it ever again.
[22:36] Ereldriia "Driia" Arkenzynge (Adylin Resident)Ereldriia "Driia" Arkenzynge (Adylin Resident) followed along behind Solnil quietly, the snake wound about her body quite still until they came to a stop. She leaned to the side to peer into the tavern her eyes pausing on each person as she observed. In her curiosity she almost missed the hand movements of her companion and therefore the conversation to be had between them. Peeling her eyes from the words his hands spelled out she quickly motioned back to him and then went back to watch. So many races seeming to be friends was not only odd to her, but made her wonder how genuine any of them were in their actions.
[22:46] ArcturusArcturus (arcturushighking) wouldn't feel much in terms of his mana being drawn.. he was untrained in magika.. he just had the potential for it was all.. he'd listen to the conversation but really there was almost too much going on at the moment so he'd likely miss a few things.. though he did notice that Nixie hadn't answered his question and was talking to the drowess.. he'd stir from his thoughts and arch a brow, "what's all going on?"
[22:47] Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote)Jamison Blackwater (Wild Cote) sighed as he snapped the book closed and shook his head, rubbing his eyes as he commented under his breath, "I feel like I'm back in El-Aamir's academy again, my head is killing me. I never did enjoy anything having to deal with potions." He chuckled as he took a sip of the wine, but then paused as his attention was drawn towards the commotion in the tavern. "Gods, I look away for fifteen minutes and everyone is starting for their weapons," he commented with a wary chuckle.
