Ashes had always been that one thug that showed promise.
This was her first day at the job
while many harbor merchants observed in terror, how a thug like Ashes could reach there where others could not
[15:36] Ashes (bttenn) bangs loudly on the stitcher's door. She was alone, didn't have any of her cronies with her but it didn't stop her from behaving like the bully she was. "open up! it's important!" without the courtesy of introducing herself.
[15:38] Emm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) goes to the door, opening it for the departing customer. "May I help you?" Emms asks, bowing. It was the way of elves, that overly polite way they had. She didn't know this woman, but apparently she was in some kind of very great need. Very!
[15:40] Ashes (bttenn) had a parchment and quill in her hands, so it was safe to assume she wasn't here to punch anyone in the face. But with Ashes it was never quite safe to assume that. "yes you may" she mimicked her way of speaking, ... elves ... always so polite for no reason..... "I'm making a list of all the business that need to have their goods delivered and right now I'm asking you" her tone as direct and blunt as the rest of her appearance. "Is there any particular day -my lady- that you shall grant me the honor of delivering you your yarn and needles?" the mockery in her tone shoudl be obvious, if it wasn't ... she needs to find another job
[15:43] Emm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) didn't so much as raise an eyebrow. She was familiar with Tieflings. They were what they were. She treated no one differently. People were people...well, Tieflings were Tieflings. She replied in that voice called little children to her lap and the birds to her shoulder, "Tuesday or Thursday at four bells ((sl time)) would be best. I always try to be at the shop at that time."
[15:47] Ashes (bttenn) scribbled down those days and threw her the most fake and insincere smile she could muster up "that will be, all, the Harbor thanks you for your time" and repeated it just to be sure and she needn't to come up here more than what was absolutely necessary "Tuesdays or Thursdays at four" , Ashes then gave her a look and then towards the door and just had this eyeroll moment "yes, I'm sure it's important" ... the dismissal in her tone was again hard to miss.
[15:51] Emm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) took a breath...not a deep one, mind you. Elves never gave away what they were thinking, not strong, well-trained ones least ways, and Emm'esta was definitely of that latter description. She simply bowed her head and said sweetly, "Then our business is concluded. And if you need garments made for any occasion," she was about to list just what occasions she thought the Harbor Master might attend but refrained, "I can promise that they will be the best made you ever owned."
[15:55] Ashes (bttenn) was vain enough to actually be interested but she was also an elf that lived in a better part of town and obviously lived a better and safer life then her own selfish self. So her kindness was immediately dismissed and never thought of again "good, in case you are not here when we deliver your supplies, we will leave it in front of your own doorstep and any loss of goods will be translated to you, not us." she unceremoniously informed her of the small letters in the agreement neither of them had ever singed "any complaints towards the harbor or its crew will be taken as a direct attempt at defamation and will be followed by an official complaint from us" she smiled sweetly, in the most venomous way possible before adding "just so you know ...."
[15:58] Emm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) bowed her head. "Diola lle. Since Lady Elizabeth brought out the last load herself, along with some of her men and a shipment of very expensive cloth that was to be used for the Den Mother's own gowns, I'm sure you will use your best judgment in making sure that no delivery is ever lost." She was just sayin'.
[16:01] Ashes (bttenn) was almost on her way out again before she halted herself and looked at the elf woman from close by "I've no idea what you just called me, but I have a talent for languages and sooner or later I'll speak Elvish as fluently as the rest of your uppity kind" pointing the quill hat her, she had no idea what the woman had just said tho. Squinting her eyes at her, making ready for her departure "indeed" squinting her eyes even further "-my- best judgement"
[16:03] Emm'esta Thiadil (emmaline.mynx) said softly, a little sad that the elf did not even recognize the simplest of elven phrases, "Diola lle just means...thank you." She let it go at that. "Until next we meet." And she was sure there would soon be a next time.
[16:05] Ashes (bttenn) went off muttering somethign in Abyssal and totally incomprehensible by even the most talented Abyssal linguists. Adn there would very soon be a next time, word was that Ashes had sacked the entire harbor crew to replace them with her own goons. and that plenty a merchant had uttered dire concerns about a thug like Ashes taking over.
