Pearls are a semi rare substance within Valesk and should be treated as such. Merfolk in Valesk have a far better chance of finding pearls versus landers since the Mer spend all their time under water and know every inch of its area. However, there are some rules with pearls that all Merfolk must follow, as well as a weekly quest to find them under water.
It does come down to an honor system. If you roll a number for the quest, please adhere to your number and be honest. It's not fair to other players to be running around with a million pearls. Not to mention, it's not realistic.

Rules:
1. Pearls may only be searched for once per week.
2. No more than 3 pearls will ever be found at one given time. (events and dungeons are the only exception when it is up to the storyweaver to decide that)
3. Pearls may be used as a form of currency for the mer, but do remember that they have special worth. Don't be tossing down a pearl for a bottle of ale, the prices aren't equal.
4. If you break the honor system and use pearls willy nilly, your ability to use pearls as a currency may be revoked ICly as currency is a very important part of an RP sim.
Rules of Play:
1. Once per week, a mer may go out into the water and search for pearls.
2. The first roll the player makes determines the size of the pearl.
3. The second roll will determine the color or hue of the pearl.
4. Size determines rarity and price. color and hue adds in extra price on top of the pearls original price.
Example:
[13:21] Sibyl Rewah rolls Dice (CC:a747): 43
[13:21] Sibyl Rewah rolls Dice (CC:a748): 38
43 will be the size of the pearl. So, 43 would give a common pearl size.
38 will be the color or hue of a pearl. So, 38 would give a common color.
In this case we will say the pearl is 5mm in size, and white in color.
The pearl would originally cost 6 copper for its size.
With the color/hue addition, the pearl's final cost is: 7 copper
