The Upper Aberwyth Massacre
The smell of death still lingers, the hearts of many beating rapidly when reminded of the ever-present Ocean nearby. A great battle and massacre occurred through the Island of Valesk unlike many others, robbing many of their family and loved ones. Worse still, most bodies were left disfigured and unidentifiable, leaving many on a curious whim as to what exactly happened to those that they lost, and with the cruel hope that they may still be alive.
What transpired was a reasonable blur, but witness accounts are sure of many Undead having been risen from the grave via Necromancy magic. Aggressive Cultist Merfolk were reported to have been seen all around the waters and beyond, dragging victims away and feeding on the unfortunate.
What was exactly their purpose? Whispers on the streets tell that it is a vengeful action in reply to horrible deeds of the past, soaked into the hearts of the ocean people and still stinging true with every passing year. Rumors of sacrifices at the annual are being spread, with the fear that the Cultist-Mer will once again rise from the oceans and lay another siege as the seasons change.
Regardless of the horrible rumors, respects were shown with a funeral to honor all those that fell during the terrible battle that day. With wavering candles and arrows of flame, boats carrying the bodies of both fallen Mer and passed away citizens of Aberwyth were sent off and then lit to burn. A long moment of respect was given for the those that lost their lives that day, celebrating the moments and times that they were with us on this Island, under the guidance of Valeska.

Cursed Leadership? Strange Connections and the New Harbor Master?
A Tiefling by the name of Ashes recently took over the Harbor business, having already earned a name in Valesk due too rumors and her questionable reputation from past history. Ashes rumored to be a “thug” of the previous Harbor Master, said to have regularly bullied and harassed the upstanding citizens of Valesk for insignificant amounts of lateness on shipping taxes.
“Hardly a favorable individual to take control of any place of business, the fact that she took over the Harbor of all places is much reason for concern.” An anonymous note reported about her, showing some question in the leadership of the lower regions of the Island.
Tieflings, the type of Humans that Ashes has been reported sharing the blood of, have been regarded as a cursed people due to certain heritages and near-demonic traits that they carry on their visage. In the particular case of Ashes herself, some anonymous citizens declare that the rumors of carrying a curse everywhere they go are true in the case of the new Harbor Master. Connections are being drawn due to the fact that, in less than a week of her promotion, the Harbor suffered a heavy flood; A large wave hit the Harbor office, which is now partially sunken into the sea. Many perishables were lost and debris were found everywhere sprawling the territory of Lower Aberwyth as well as the island shore. It is currently unknown if any of the Harbor crew or sailors were harmed in this event, and it is fortunate that none have been reported missing.
To add to the claims of cursed leadership, it was reported that an alligator attack occurred somewhere in the regions of the Harbor docks. Suggestions have been made that the animal was attracted by the smell of rotting food.
While still in shambles, the Harbor crew is doing anything and everything they can to make sure the rubble will be cleared; However on a more sour note, rumor is filling the air around Lower Aberwyth that the island has shifted its course, meaning that boats and thus shipments will not be able to find its exact location. This will undoubtedly leave a heavy impact on merchant deliveries in the near future.
Many hold Ashes personally responsible for this disaster, but the Harbor Master herself has been said to hold her ground on the fact that absolutely no financial leniency will be extended to merchants, as the responsibility of these events do not lay on the shoulders of the Harbor business and its employees.

Aberwyth Summer Carnival
The sound of laughter and merriment, the smells of foods, apples, various drinks; all where a welcome addition to the normally quiet area of Middle Aberwyth a couple days ago. Those looking for a good time and living in the area simply had to step outside to join the fun! A lovely party, the Aberwyth Summer Carnival was right outside the door, immediately swinging any into full cheer with it’s many entertaining games and activities.
The little kissing booth seemed all too popular within the Carnival, as many fell prey to a locking or peck with the lovely Chione’s lips. I daresay I heard some paying a good amount of gold for such a smooch, though names will be omitted for whom that person would be for the sake of not being whacked on the head. Perhaps it had something to do with the strange drinks that where being handed out by the new Tavern owner, Miss Cedar? It would be a valid assumption, seeing as it appeared the drinks caused an uncanny amount of flames to burst from a dear Drow’s mouth just beside me! Props given to both of these young women for such brilliant- and fruitful ideas.
Some of these games where not as safe as others, although the fun of it all is debatable depending on who you ask. I am sure a conversation with poor Cailean could get the latter as a reply, as he had found himself challenging the true-aimed Skyrah to a game. A game in which a spinning wheel ended up with him tied to it, and knives where thrown at him. I don’t believe she missed. We wish you luck for your recovery, sir Cailean, and all will know to think twice before challenging Skyrah to a match of this game from now on!
As well there was also a game of bobbing for apples set up, though if any where to ‘win’ at this, I believe it would likely be the strange, giant wolf that walked into town. The starry-coated creature did well in dipping her head in and collecting as many fruits as her big maw could handle! And then another game, though about as messy as the rest, mud wrestling ended up won by default by the strong little pixie from the infirmary, Miss Kristie. Unchallenged, and undefeated. Give her a good congratulations for such a victory as well!
And a big thanks to all who made this event possible, I am certain all who attended wait with bated breath in hopes of taking part in another such Carnival in the future.
