[IoV] Aberwyth Guard Ranks
Below are the descriptions for all ranks and their duties in the Guard.
Rank One: Recruit
Description: Those with the rank of recruit are new members of the Aberwyth Guard that are awaiting their training. Their current skills will be evaluated by a senior member of the Guard before further training or immediate promotion to the rank of Guardsman is recommended.
Duties:
- To provide protection for and patrol the Village of Aberwyth while accompanied with a Guardsman or above.
- Provide care for any prisoners in custody of the Guard.
- Responsible for upkeep of the guardhouse (i.e. keeping it clean, make sure all beds are made, sweep the fur rugs, do best to make sure stone shines as brightly as possible.)
Rank Two: Guardsman
Description: Full member of the Aberwyth Guard. Protects and patrols the town, often given stations in areas of high crime or risk. Occasionally assigned to train new recruits.
Duties:
- Providing protection for and patrolling the Village of Aberwyth.
- Training of new recruits.
- Filling out shift reports after each shift and incident reports as necessary.
- Reporting to assigned stations when ordered.
Rank Three: Knight
Description: Battle-tested and experienced members of the Aberwyth Guard. Special title granted to select guardsman for deeds of significant merit. May be called upon to lead small groups of Guardsmen.
Duties:
- Same as Guardsman.
- Additional duties of leading groups of guards during emergencies.
- May oversee and hold training for recruits with approval of Lieutenant or Captain.
- May be tasked with special assignments for the Guard.
Rank Four: Quartermaster
Description: Officer of the Aberwyth Guard. In charge of ensuring that the Guard is well-provisioned and supplied. Acquires arms and armor, serves as a liaison to the businesses that supply the Guard.
Duties:
- Same as Knight.
- Makes sure the Guard has all required equipment and supplies to function.
- Maintains relationships for the Guard with businesses on the Isle.
- First rank allowed to recruit members to the Guard.
Rank Five: Lieutenant of the Guard
Description: Officer of the Aberwyth Guard and second-in-command. Assists the Captain in the day-to-day running of the guard and assumes command when the Captain is not present. Helps with recruitment and oversees the training of new recruits.
Duties:
- Second-in-command of the Guard.
- Assists the Captain with day-to-day operations.
- Oversees the training of all new recruits and guards.
- Acts as Captain when they are away and also sits on the Council to speak for the guard if the Captain is not available.
Rank Six: Captain of the Guard
Description: Commanding officer of the Aberwyth Guard. Collaborates with the Aberwyth Council and the Lady of the Village and is responsible for the guard as a whole.
Duties:
- Commander of the Guard.
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the guard with assistance from the Lieutenant.
- Member of the Aberwyth Council.
- Works with Lady of the Village to ensure the safety of the town.
