Members of the Synod (council)
1. Idani {Monarch}
The Idani oversees the running of the waterways and the protection of the people and their freedoms. Passing judgment over trespassers, attackers, and offenders of Rusalkan law or ethics.
The monarch's main duty is to serve as mother or father to their people, to hold them as his or her utmost priority to protect and encourage.
2. Ardden {Second in Command}
When the Idani is absent, the Ardden is in control and guides the people in the wishes of the Idani. The Ardden cannot pass judgment without approval from the Idani or the rest of the Synod in a unanimous agreement. The Ardden acts as the voice of the Idani as well as the main advisory to the Idani.
3. Vorbel {General}
Vorbel, the general of the soldiers and fighters who wish to protect the Rusalka and their Idani. the Vorbel is third in command and aids in matters of military advisory to the Idani and the Synod. Guiding and training his or her shoulders, the Vorbel is the voice of protection and is the only one below the Idani who can judge trespassers without being given authority to do so.
4. Tiald {Head Healer}
Tiald is the head of the healers, those who have been trained in the healing arts of the Rusalka and know how to keep the healthy and living well. The Tiald is trainer to his or her students and advises the Idani in matters of the betterment of Rusalkan health. Fourth in command, the Tiald is there to make sure that in every aspect of governmental action, the wellness of the people is seen to.
5. Cuṡtoṡ - {Lorekeeper}
The one in charge of recording and remembering all history and lore on the Rusalka both good and bad. Last in line of the Synod they advise the Idani and their fellow Synod members on such matters of politics. It is the role of the Custos to ensure that proper etiquette and laws are followed and as such must be knowledgeable in both Rusalkan lore and that of the land walkers, as well as to preserve their own lore through the telling of stories, the writing of scrolls and tomes, and co-supervising the festivals celebrating the gods/goddesses and Rusalkan heritage.
Non-Synod Positions
Sin’iṡtraṃ - {The Left Hand}
‘The left hand’ of the Idani and the Rusalka. With the need for adversity comes the need for secrecy. While the Idani plays in politics and politeness her left hand is there to do what may not be prudent for her to be seen doing herself. This is not a council position and holds no power over matters that have to do with the Synod, indeed few are even aware such a position exists. The Left Hand is there to assess and eliminate threats to the Rusalkan people and the Idani. “Offer friendship with one hand whilst you arm the other.” this is the purpose the Sin’istram fills.
Sienbel {Synod Trainee}
These are the people who train beneath the council. From warriors below the Vorbel to healers below the Tiald, the Sienbel learn the ways of their Synod leader, and help guide and care of the Rusalkan people under the Synod.
