Before officially applying for either, I want to post this as a suggestion, also to get feedback, discussion and ideas: A faction for Savages, Vikings, Barbarians, Orcs, Minotaurs, etc. Please look at the suggestions with the following in mind: - Why a subrace? I see the (sub)race as mandatory for the faction, as I want to prevent "normal" and pacifist type of characters, tieflings/aasimar/vampires from the clan. Those would not fit into it as I envision it, and hence might be more immersion breaking overall. Without the (sub)race I would not apply for the faction either
- Overpowered? The trait modifiers may seem a lot at first glance, yet I have made them according to the average what is easy to get for all other races. I.e. near each race can easily get a total of +4 modifiers, some even up to 5 before skill based modification applications while also having noticable + x HP options
- Genetical differences? The subraces are ranging over a broad variance of backgrounds as it is currently: Illness or death based as Vampires/Lycans, divine/hellish blessing based like Tieflings/Aasimar or Amaniel/Fey'ri, habitat or shifting based like Aquatics/Avariel/Lythari, even only habitat based like Moon Elf/Common Elf/Sun Elf/High Elf/Wood Elf/Wild Elf, etc. are currently allowed subraces. Not all of them have big genetic differences other than looks. IF they have such differences, they usually have ways to hide them and look like normal humans/elves/etc. - Barbarians/Savages have hence also strongly habitat based differences that reflect in their bodies
- The faction itself I would like to suggest/apply for to also give races a home that currently have no real place unless being were-people/garou or similar, who like the more savage lifestyle for their chars (withOUT seeking permanent battle only!)
The faction withdrawn due to rejection
The (sub)race withdrawn due to rejection

I personally, like the idea of having a possibility of -barbarian- characters to group together separately. I though would more see it as a faction with a specific limitations to the kind of races that can apply, if that makes sense? Either way, it's a cool thought to consider and I will watch this space to see what comes of it!

For those who might think that this subrace is too "overpowered", I will add a table to compare different character setups for various factions. In that I focus on Humans (1 pure fighter, 1 mage/melee mix), Barbarians (1 pure fighter, 1 Shaman), Therians, Garou and Fae - and in that all characters are maxed out so that they are very good in melee combat (as that seems to be what people fear barbarians being overpowered in as they are written up above) while some have magic, others have not to show also that difference. Here goes: Aspect | Human 1 | Human 2 | Barbarian 1 | Barbarian 2 | Therian | Garou | Pixie (Wild Fae) | Hitpoints | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 +2 Signature | 5/10 | 5/6/14 | 5 + 2 Race Gift | Age | 18-100 | 18-100 | 18-100 | 18-100 | 18-100 | 18-1000 | 18-2000 | Alignment | Any | Any | Any | Any | Any | Chaotic or Neutral | Any chaotic | Bonus | +2 (any trait) / Versatility | +2 (any trait) / Versatility | Enduring Body, Valued Warrior | Enduring Body, Valued Warrior | Sign (Mountain/Bear) | +1 to Strength and Huntsman / Shapeshift / keen senses / trait boni during full moon | +2 to Magic / Glamour / Diversity / Change Size / Fae Court: Twilight | Gifts | Entertainment (+1 Reflexes) / Inventor (+1 Knowledge, +1 Knwl Skill) | Entertainment (+1 Reflexes) / Call of the Warrior (Armor) | Totem (Snake), Berserker | Totem (Mammoth), Spiritmonger | Apex Predator, Natural Hunter | Regeneration, Fenrir’s Roar (Strength) | Mana Manipulation / Unearthly Form (Implacable) | Limitation | Unlucky | Un-Magicked (-1 Resolve to magic) | Pariah, Bluntness, Magic-Averse | Pariah, Bluntness, Magic-Averse | Silver, Wolfsbane, Books? Writing? What's that?! | Silver, Wolfsbane, Full Moon, do not always handle intense stimuli well, Speechless | Honesty, Cold Iron, Essence of Life (Emotions) | Fighting | 8 (6 +2 Racial Bonus) | 8 (6 +2 Racial Bonus) | 7 (6 +1 Racial Bonus) | 7 (6 +1 Racial Bonus) | 7 (Gift, -1 @ Resolve 6+) | 7 | 6 | Reflexes | 8 (6 +1 Racial Gift +1 Cat's Grace) | 7 (5 +1 Racial Gift +1 Cat's Grace) | 8 (6 +1 Totem +1 Cat's Grace) | 7 (6 +1 Cat's Grace) | 7 (6 +1 Cat's Grace) | 5 | 7 (6 +1 Cat's Grace) | Strength | 5 | 6 | 7 (5 +1 Bonus +1 Totem) | 6 (5 +1 Bonus) | 7 (6 +1 Sign) | 7 (5 +1 Bonus +1 Gift) | 5 | Huntsman | 0 | 5 | 5 | 0 | 6 (5 +1 Gift) | 6 (5 +1 Bonus) | 3 | Shadows | 0 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Magic | 5 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 8 (5 +2 Race +1 Gift) | Resolve | 5 | 3 (-1 vs magic) | 5 | 5 | 4 (3 +1 Sign) | 5 | 7 (5 +1 Gift +1 Twilight Court) | Knowledge | 4 (3 +1 Racial Gift) | 5 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Social | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Attack | 8 | 8 | 8 (Fast Blade Style) | 7 | 7 | 7 | 6 (8 with Mage Blade) | Defense | 8 | 7 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 5 | 7 | Damage (unarmed / light / medium / large / massive / shifted) | 1, 1, 2, 3, n/a, n/a | 2, 2, 3, 3, n/a, n/a | 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, n/a | 2, 2, 3, 3, n/a, n/a | 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 3 | 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 3 | 1, 1, 2, 3, n/a, n/a | Skills & Styles | Cat's Grace, Anatomy of Garou

Please be aware that ... - ... the pixie has +5 traits and +2 HP + Pet + a lot of powerful spells (as all magic users do)
- ... Therians have +4 Traits at 5 or 10 HP, Garou have +3 traits at 5/6/14 HP
- ... Humans have +3 or +4 traits at fix 5 HP
- ... Barbarians have +4 traits at 5 HP or +2 traits at +2 HP
- ... the garou and therians have a solid 10 or 14 HP and do large damage "naked" - nowhere it is written (or I haven't found it) that they then may not add armor. Therians/Garou with max 2 magic can even add Armor Mastery
- ... the pure fighting skills are accross the line about equal, spells can do a big difference (e.g. if casted in pre-combat roleplay)
- ... skills are not broadly available, true, but many of them are of limited usefulness, or can be acquired by changing from e.g. huntsman to knowledge or shadows. Characters with Magic 5 (above) have no access to martial skills
I hope I can wipe out any concerns of the Barbarian (sub)race being overpowered. As foundation for the savage faction I do still consider it as mandatory for various reasons, especially immersion...

- Spiritmonger: Spiritmongers can use mana once per day to start a ritual to call the ancestors over a fallen person, to either restore their destroyed body (4 mana) or outright revive them (6 mana). Each started ritual will last two full days for a restore, three full days for a reviving. To take this signature the character must have Magic rank of at least 4. ---------------
does this revive people from the dead? From my understanding Only those within the Collegiate of Healing were allowed such. being a closely held secret,
------- They can restore life. This is one of the most closely guarded secrets of the Collegiate and involves a ritual that is extremely draining to both mage and the resurrected. The Healer can only restore life to a person dead a number of days less than or equal to their Magic rank. The spell takes 10 posts to cast and both Healer's and Target's ranks are reduced to 1 for all trait rolls, recovering 1 rank to all traits per day.

Yes, that is the supposed case. This signature is the main one for people with magic over 3, the shamans, who are supposed to be the healers of the clans. Consider them maybe as a type of battle healers...
Also due to that, and because I had not read the result of the rez sadly (your last quoted paragraph), I might have to make the effects last even longer than if a "professional magic healer" (academic) does it. Shamans are not supposed to be as good in that rezzing as the Healer Magic School members - unless they are also in that school themselves.
Thanks for noticing that!

As a faction. There is a possibility. A few enjoy this idea but at this time, we will not be accepting "Barbarian" as a "Subrace".
Thank you for the suggestions!
