Read Aura: Lesson 1 at the Mage's Tower [2015/10/09 16:54] Crystiel Thistlebush sets the sword to the side of her leaned up against the side of the chair so she could see it. She already knew the enchantment on it, having been told recently by Meri.....that should give her some insight...in the right direction...at least once she is able to "see" the aura...it may help her to identify it....she gets to the spot where it explains the catalyst for the spell...she translates it into a word...and focuses on her vision...she tests the word in a whisper, but nothing happens.....then a couple candles on the desk flare up and then go out..."Woops...ahh wrong pronunciation...sorry" she says and then smiles at the man who entered, "might be me...Im just practicing"
[2015/10/09 17:00] Garrett (Arex Koltai) reached out to take his book back if Meri would allow him, and then frowned in thought as the armored man mentioned that he was here to escort him on behalf of a 'friend'. He perked a brow, internally considering how many people he could consider as a friend, and how many had clout for this sort of request. But eventually, he came to some sort of conclusion and nodded towards the armored man, "Very well then. Lead on." He would turn his head back to Meri and offer a smile to her, "Just send a message with the materials to the Keep. They will ensure it gets to me." It wasn't as if the request he was making was particularly strange or potent. Secrecy was not necessary, and perhaps even counterproductive, in this case.
[2015/10/09 17:04] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) 's careful gaze played over the man's form, her head tipping aside slightly as she took him in. The message delivered brought a flick of the brow in silent inquiry, her eyes darting over towards Garrett and back. The man's look met with a quirk of her lips and soft burst of laughter that ensues as the sense of Magic fades from the room, only the quiescent mass of random items about belying the hint of Talent. She'd watch as he seemed to be physically affected, that tidbit of information noted as she stored it away, then dipped her head politely and flicked a glance back at Crystiel as she was practicing. The candles snuffed brings another soft chuckle to her breath, the quick trill of Magic as the cantrip sets them aflame again and she turns back to Garett once more. "Sounds like you're being paged." of course releasing the book into his grip and offered another dip of her head as she murmurs with those soft musical tones. "Never a worry, I'll get that list to you, just let me know what you might have trouble with getting." Food of course was in short supply, but material items such as these, shouldn [2015/10/09 17:05] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) shouldn't be so difficult. "Safe travels to you..." she'd offer to both men and wait until they'd stepped away to turn her gaze back to Crystiel.
[2015/10/09 17:07] Aden -Ze Kaizer- Spiritor (finn.snowfall) cants his head lightly and gives a nod of his head in return to Garretts response. Then he gave a nod towards the two women as well, each given the polite farewell in turn. He even gave a nod to the NPC male before turning towards leaving, opening the door with a calm push of his hand. "I am sorry about the way I asked, but I am not very familiar with social customs I am afraid." he says to the man as he leads him away from the magic shop. He does spot the bite marks at the neck and taps his finger against his own. "She is quite greedy, isn't she?" he remarks with a soft laugh, yet his eyes narrow slightly, wondering if he nailed it or missed.
[2015/10/09 17:10] Crystiel Thistlebush goes back over the scroll she was reading and, reads through the catalyst again....and sees her mistake...she accented the wrong vowel...."ahhh there we go" she says to herself and then whispers the new and inproved word of power....immediately she covers her eyes, "Ahhhhh....colors.....too bright!" she was blinded by a wash of rainbow colors, like drops of lamp oil in a puddle of water, but brighter...she doesn't see the two leave, "Ahhh that smarts....."
[2015/10/09 17:15] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) flicked a glance over as the two men left, the comment about greediness and the other man's hand tapping at... were those bite marks?? Meri'd stop, blink a moment, tip her head then furrow her brow before shifting her gaze back to Crystiel at her exclamation... the soft chuckle on her breath "Try it like this..." then she chants out the piece that Crystiel was trying to employ... the timbre perhaps a little different and the intonation clearer... "You'll get there..."
[2015/10/09 17:22] Crystiel Thistlebush sits back with eyes the size of saucers, "yeah, I'll try that as soon as this feeling goes away...I havnt seen this many colors since I ate that mushroom a friend of mine handed me when I was younger" she says with a smile a she leans back....the colors already starting to fade, and outlines of things and Meri are starting to come back into Focus. her eyes moving about a she follows the blotted colors as they go through her vision, "whats the story on the book? if you don't mind me asking....it seems strong..I could feel its magic from across the room....you dont have to awnser, just passing time till my visions clears," she says with a Huge grin as Purple floods her vision, but at least she could see now....just everything was a shade of purple, red and blue.
[2015/10/09 17:27] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) tips her head, the soft purr of bemusement in her voice as she grins a little watching the little Fae. "I'll take your word for it..." she'd offer dryly, watching her quietly as she seemed to have some sort of reaction. "Does this happen to you often when you're practicing?" She'd inquire quietly then motion towards the door and the long-gone figures. "Oh, it's just an enchantment to weather-proof and protect the contents."
[2015/10/09 17:40] Crystiel Thistlebush shrugs with a smile as normal colors begin to fade in, the effect wearing off, "Usually at least until I get the invocation right, one wrong syllable and who knows what happens.....its more chaotic with us Fae, as we don;t just know Magic...we are Magic, more so then other races anyways, its why I could feel the book, seemed a very hush hush attitude, for just a weather-proofing enchantment.....you seemed a little tense as if the man who came in was gonna steal it...but....never mind about that, im sure it isnt any of my business...I think im ready..." she says and then goes over the catalyst again and rememebers what Meri said about its Connotation...and whispers the word in test again. Colors spread through her vision once again...but more focused...objects around the room glow...some potions on the shelf glowed green...others red, purple, orange....there was even one that "glowed" black...hidden on the bottom shelf in the corner, "Ahhhh that seems to work.....I see the auras I think, but I have no idea [2015/10/09 17:40] Crystiel Thistlebush what they mean..." she says and then the colors fade...it was only a test so she didnt give it much force to stay going forr long.
[2015/10/09 17:46] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) chuckles again as she seems to have colored herself once more, the tip of her head as she listens then just nods "You'll have to take a little time, feel them out, it's not just the aura itself you can see, but if there's any spells on the item, or sometimes how it works. You don't always get the same answer every time, it might be different components that come to you. But each additional bit of information will pull a bit more of your Magic from you - so guard it carefully..." [2015/10/09 17:52] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles and nods, "that makes sense...just practice makes perfect...I already know what the swords enchantment is...so if I was to examine it..I should be able to recognize that or similar effects, on other things..yes, so its just a matter of knowing what each Aura means...some had other colors mixed in with a main color, that might be the spell used, but I don't know how to tell them apart"
[2015/10/09 17:54] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) nodded "Once you master the spell, it will tell you, the colors will make sense and the enchantments will speak to you - tell you what's inherent in each item. It's just a matter of working your way through it." nodding resolutely "The spells you're familiar with will come easiest, the others may take a little more time."
[2015/10/09 18:02] Crystiel Thistlebush nods and thinks, "so..should I cast a spell I know and then read its aura? till it comes naturally to me...I think I can do that....lets see here....pehaps just a cantrip...." she says and thinks up of one as she snaps her finger....a Glow appears in the center of the room, a simple light spell, a ball of white light....she feeds it a little magic and then ties off the weave, it should stay for a few minutes...enough time to try her hand at "reading" it.
[2015/10/09 18:14] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) nods "That would be another way to go about it as far as testing yes... but a lot you will just learn as you go along. Part of the joys of Magic..." the soft chuckle on her breath as she lifts her eyes to peruse the globe for a moment, an impish grin lighting her features, though she'd behave and just nod "You're getting it, the more practice the better. Now however, I need to start working on a reagents list... I look forward to seeing you again soon, Crystiel."
[2015/10/09 18:18] Crystiel Thistlebush focuses on the new spell, centered on her vision and whispers the word of power once again, but gives it a bit more strength then she did previously. colors swirl in her visions once again and then spreads out and settles on the objects around the room. she focuses her vision on the Ball of white, and sees another glow around it..also white....perhaps this wasn't the best spell to start off with as it kinda blends in with the effect its self...but she could see other colors mixed into the aura...in fact there was a bluish knot on one side."ok...I see the aura...there is a bluish knot on one side of the white Aura,...is that where I tied it off at?..I think so...Light magic, so it shows up white....go figure....but its not really telling me anything I don't already know" she would say and then releases the magic on her eyes and smiles at Meri, "yes...you have given me much to think on...I'll keep practicing over the next week...I may come back later for some fine tuning if I run into issues...thank you for [2015/10/09 18:18] Crystiel Thistlebush your time" she says with a smile, a she slides off the chair and hefts the sword back on her shoulder. the ball of light still glows, but she has no control over it cause she tied it off...but it should fade away soon.
[2015/10/09 18:23] Merialeth Windstar (caireannliadan) nodded once more, smiling as she watches the Fae slip down and hoist her sword. "Good luck with your new blade there, that's quite the catch... I'll be around if I'm needed - Good night, Crystiel." She'd offer a warm smile watching her as she went then tipped her head at the globe of light, a soft trill of her own as she sent it up higher out of the way so it wasn't so bright on her eyes, then headed for the back room to work on her list. (Thanks for the RP!)
[2015/10/09 18:25] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles and nods, "Good night Meri" she would say and then tips her head in her direction before heading out, with a snap of her fingers that opens the door before her...and then closes behind her.<your welcome and ty as well>

Read Aura: Practice 1 [14:22] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles as she sits on the stone bench, and pulls out the scroll she had gotten from the Magic shop. she reads through it again, trying to discern some new insight on how she can manipulate the flows and get some information from her magic. She has learned to see the Auras, but "Reading" them was another matter altogether. with a sigh she snaps her fingers and summons another cantrip, one based on wind. Leaves scattered around under the gazebo flutter and lift up, circling in the air in front of her as the mini-dust devil forms in front of her.
[14:32] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles and watches the leaves for a time, then ties off the weave and gives it just a bit of energy to keep it going for a while. She looks down at the page one more then back up at the swirling leaves, speaking the word of power, as she lifts her hand to her mouth and blows a cloud of pixie dust into the spinning vortex. Colors fill her vision as before, but this time only around the object of her desire. Yellow was the predominate color this time, she looks around and makes sure that nothing else has an Aura...She smiles and nods to herself.....she had thought of this last night before going to sleep....she needed to focus the energy into one place or object...by expanding her vision, it should dilute any incoming information, but if she was to focus on one thing....more information should present itself.
[14:52] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles as she focuses in on the enchanted dust devil, looking along its Aura. within the yellow glow she could see a rainbow of other colors...the more she focuses on those colors the more they seem to want to reach out to her...expanding...expanding...she shakes her head as she suffers from a spell of vertigo and loses her focus..."okay, I wasn't expecting that.....is that what Meri was talking about" she said to herself as she regains her balance.
[16:25] Crystiel Thistlebush smiles and nods as she watches the little cyclone...then whispers the word of power once again and tosses some more pixie dust into the magic vortex. colors flare for a second and then settles around the tiny twister. she focuses on the aura once again as she did before...but this time, tries not to lose focus, being more aware of whats gonna happen....as the rainbow colors reach towards her vision once again...she tries to make sense of the influx of information....Fae magic....air...tied off...cantrip strength.....yes it was all there, but possibly only because she was looking for it, knew what she was looking for....yes its easy when done with her own spells....but how would she fare with something unknown to her....It might not be as easy that way. the Cyclones magic fades and settles down on the ground, dissipates and scatters the leaves under the bench and crossed the pillows...withthat she realeses the magic in her eyes....she got some head way...but she should take a break...for now.

Read Aura: Practice 2 [16:14] Crystiel Thistlebush sits on the well, as she goes over the spell scroll once again...shes gotten better at this...but still no real success. she keeps the sword laid out beside her on the edge of the well and waves her hand over it, sprinkling it with her pixie dust, the words she used before are now sub-vocalized, to a deep hum of magic. To her sight, the sword flares up in a rainbow of colors, that settles on it like an Aura. within that Aura are a myriad of other colors, that is supposed to in some way reveal information on the enchantment...she already knew what the sword does.....but she has yet to be able to see it for herself....or understand how Merri could decipher it, so quickly....
[17:18] Crystiel Thistlebush watches the colors move along the edge of the sword, almost as if it was in fire. but what does it all mean? she decides to focus more Magic into it...maybe it was waiting for something more....as she pushes mana into it, the colors flare up once again and seem to reach out to her....Guidance...Luck.....teleportation?...that wasnt exactly right.....but she was close...she could feel it.
[18:40] Crystiel Thistlebush releases the magic once again and shakes her head....the effort was hard and exhausting, she will have to work on this more at a later time.....she was close...it was trying to tell her something, and thats what she wanted.....but it was incoherent....like hearing someone speaking gibberish...

Read Aura: Practice 3
[2015/11/05 15:53] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me sits calmly on the well with a sword crossed her lap, she closes her eyes as she sprinkles it with pixie dust, causing the sword to glow in a multicolored hue, With a whispered word of magic she opens her eyes and gazes at the blade, the magic allowing her to see its aura even to understand the additional colors that flare up around it, that only she could see ...she was getting better at this...though still not perfected. she hums to herself as she tries to make sense of the information that floods her senses. she has heard voices in the woods, but ignores them...she felt no danger, and the Faewyld would warn her if such was the case.
[2015/11/05 15:57] Liam: gave an innocent shrug of his shoulders as he scratched behind his head lightly at her response, and pointed to the smaller feathered friend perched upon Kai. " Nice looking little fellow there. What's his name?" His expression changed , distraught as he remained where he was. "Aye. You've got it right Lass. But why the startle?" Though he could only guess himself. Wolves...wolves had a uncontrollable nasty temper at points, naturally feared to; he'd let out a sigh at that as he turns his head slightly, his hearing picking up a faint, soft sound as he wondered where it emitted from.
[2015/11/05 16:08] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles as the blade floats up into the air before her and begins to spin slowly before her....the magic hadn't done this before...was this a breakthrough? or another failed attempt? She shrugs happily and allows it to do its thing, her eyes focused on the sword so she doesn't see anything else around her as she continues to hum to herself. a fern near the two people talking shakes a little, if glanced at quickly they might see a little man, no bigger then a mouse, naked except a few decorative feathers, dart off out of sight...a Faewyld investigating the 'Giants' in the forest. a Common sighting and harmless in this portion of the island.
[2015/11/05 16:22] Liam: smiled warmly and gave a nod of his head. "Kethudrim? It suits the fellow." He was taken aback by her sudden change of tone. "Why? Why a Garou? I don't know Lass...born this way..?" The male almost gave a pull of his lips, bemused and slightly upset at the same time as he responded, acknowledging her 'tongue'. "Trap? Lle lakwenien ((Are you joking?))..No. If I wanted to hurt you I would have done it by now.." Harsh as that came across it was true, the beastie had no interest in harming Kai. The man got to his feet when Kai stumbled, outstretching his hand in attempt to help her up as he saw his raven Onyxia squawk with peak interest and dart after something. "Ony ! Where are you-- agh forget it." He gave a dismissive gesture of his arm. That raven was like a cat that had the attention span of a flea.
[2015/11/05 16:35] Kai (K3nnaRose Resident): /me snorted, "Amin elea. ((I see.))" She responded; helping herself up and using the base of the tree for support. She carefully stepped over the twisting roots and made her way closer to the carved path, "Lle wethrine amin. ((You deceived me))" She remarked; face growing warm and red yet again, "I must go... Quel fara ((Good hunting))" She remarked sharply in farewell.
[2015/11/05 16:35] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me smiles more as she reaches up and touches a color of the aura, it seemed to react to that to she closes her fingers as if grabbing it and pulls it away from the other colors. her eyes open wide as it does...this was interesting..as she focuses her mind on it, it seems to pull at her in return...pulling...pulling...and then a Dart of magical energy from her body flies out and gets absorbed by the Aura she puled out...this surprises her so much her magic falters. the sword falling tot he ground with a clank as it hits a small rock and showers the ground around it with a multicolored rain of sparkles, then dissipates. The Faeywyld spots the bird as it flies after him, but then dives into a hole in the ground, prolly made by a chipmunk...safe for the time being.
[2015/11/05 17:06] Elka Petrova (Adylin Resident): /me paused once they reached the forest and she saw Crystiel, "The elves have declared war on the singarti. Since we are aligned I only thought it made sense to inform you." Her eyes went to Kindo and she tried to judge what he was thinking about what just happened and whether or not there would be an argument echoing through the woods this night.
[2015/11/05 17:09] Crystiel Thistlebush: /me looks down at the fallen sword and grins at it...what was that, it was like the spell demanded more magic from her...was that normal? or did something go wrong?..she snapped her finger and floating the blade back to her hand. she resheths it back in its scabbard on her back and pulls out the magic scroll...maybe she missed something...as she scan over the writting she hears foot steps as Elka and Kindo come into view. she smiles at them and gives them both a Nod of greeting, "A war?..with the elves?...how did this come about?" she says with a smile, but a tilt of her head shows her confusion.
