hello, I Play Crystiel, who is a Fae, with the Limitation of "Promise Bound". Im also a Practitioner of the Collegiate of Healing school of magic.
Promise Bound reads:
Promise Bound:
This Fae is bound to their word. If they make a promise, they must do everything in their power to fulfill it. For the entire duration of time spent attempting to avoid the fulfillment of any promise made, this Fae will be completely incapable of using magic of any kind, including cantrips and their Glamour.
Collegiate of healing reads:
The Collegiate of Healing is considered an Oathbound school. Casters of this school take an Oath to never learn combative magics and to never kill another person. Should this magical oath be broken, the healer loses all benefits mentioned above (though they retain their healing spells).
Due to the Promise Bound, its physically impossible for Crystiel to kill another person, Nor would she even attack another person, cause she might kill someone by mistake. Thus she is a pacifist...the happy go lucky tiny Fae you all know and love.
However, there is a Moral Debate... What exactly is a Person?
Im sure we all can agree that Humans, Elves, Fae, Mer...are persons. But what about wild animals?...(it prolly wouldn't happen being Fae) But what if I was attacked by a Mountain Lion, who thought I was a large rodent? Would I be able to defend myself and kill it before it kills me?....what if a Wolf(Garou) attacked me and I killed it, then it transforms into a Person after death...would I lose all my Magic for all time?
Are Shadlings considered persons?
What about Dragons? if you dont think Dragons are persons, would you tell that to a dragon, to his face?
Vampires, technically they are already Dead....so would it actually be killing them, or just putting them to rest?
Normally Ive just been playing her as a pacifist, in totality. Shes a Vegetarian, almost a Fruitarian (Like a Cross between Gandhi and the Cheshire Cat ) but recently she has been handed a Magical Sword, which has got me thinking about the oaths she took...with what exactly it means...a Dagger is a tool, can be used for many things, from whittling a stick, to surgical cuts if needed, for making fishing rods...or marshmallow sticks for the campfire, Even a Bow can be used for other things, from Hunting, to stretching a rope crossed a river.....But a Sword is not really a Tool except as a Tool of warfare, Its only purpose is to Kill people...which goes against her oath.
So My Question is This: What exactly did she make an Oath on.... and were there any exceptions to the oath? <Im trying to find a IC reason to keep said sword, and not throw it away.....and its this Moral debate that runs through her head. Fascinated because its enchanted...it is of beautiful workmanship, she wants to unlock its secrets first....but if the enchantments only make it easier to kill people....does she have any reason to keep it for self defense?...or should she give it away?">
