I noticed that there are a few vampires on sim, and that mers and drow both have limitations that involve drinking blood. I thought it would be interesting for there to be temporary effects based on the races that they drink the blood from! Obviously these would be optional if the player decides to act on it, but I think it could add an interesting aspect to things. Basically, I'd think it would add +1 to whatever that race's racial bonus is at character creation for a certain amount of time.
So far, the ideas I have are:
Humans:
(6 hours)
Nothing fancy as far as taste goes, it's just blood. Middle ground for nutritional value.
Elves:
+1 to Reflexes and become slightly more agile up to 8 hours.
Can be very sweet tasting, almost like candy. Moderate nutritional value.
Drow:
+1 to Shadows and become more resistant to magic for up to 4 hours. (Magic rolls against them are -1)
Tastes very bitter and has a low nutritional value.
Faerie:
+2 to Magic for up to 2 hours and are more compelled to tell the truth.
Bottom tier for nutritional value. Similar in taste to opium and can have the same effects.
Garou:
+1 to Strength and increased senses for up to 12 hours. (Hearing, sight, and smell)
It has the most nutritional value and tastes fairly gamey, but also generally the hardest to get (for vampires) due to the rivalry.
Mer:
+1 to Knowledge OR Strength for up to 8 hours.
Tastes salty, moderate nutritional value.
Orcs:
+2 to Strength for up to 8 hours.
Tastes absolutely terrible, almost like it's rotted. If it can be stomached, the effects are far worth it.
** Having to take a Resolve roll after drinking Orc blood would be interesting- to see if their character pukes or can withstand it.
Vampires:
-2 to Strength for up to 8 hours.
0 nutritional value, causes sickness. The blood is literally dead and will cause other vampires to
become ill if consumed, mostly involving vomiting and hallucinations.
Lycan:
Similar to Garou, but effects only last 10 hours.
Aasimar:
Burns the vampire, causing vomiting and makes them lose 1 hit point for every hit point they drain.
Demons:
Gains 1 extra hit for 4 hours, but no nutritional value.
Animals/Beasts:
(2 hours)
Same as humans, nothing fancy as far as taste goes. Very low nutritional value.
Elementals:
Have no blood. Good luck trying.
As far as what I mean by nutritional value, it means that if ..Say, a vampire feeds on a Garou, the time it would take before they would need to feed again would be drastically increased from if they fed from a drow. I was thinking like.. either twice or three times the effect time for how long it would keep them fed.
Also, the effects would have to be made so that they can't "stack" to create temporarily OP characters. Like, can't drink from an elf to get +1 resolve, then drink from a faerie to get +2 magic. It'd either need to overwrite the first effect, or just not have any effect when drinking from the fae. Can't have any godmod characters because of this!
Blood effects can only be gained through roleplay, not through NPC'd characters!
Make sure you keep some sort of log of it!
Anyways, let me know what you think or if you have ideas and suggestions! I know there's dwarves, fauns, and a centaur on the sim. I'm not sure where to put them in this or if we should just have an "everything else" section for those that aren't native.
