Do I have to specify my sub species?
No, you can simply be a merfolk. There is no rule or law saying you have to have a specify sub species.
Do I have to spend all my time in the water or on land?
Of course not! RP where you want to or where you find RP.
We do ask that you follow the rules for landwalking and try not to stay on land all day as by our rules, you would begin to weaken and get sick.
Am I obligated to follow the Rusalka/ Merfolk laws ICly?
Of course not. But you must be aware that if you break them, you will face IC consequences.
You must ALWAYS follow the sim OOC rules, end of story.
Can I cause a tidal wave?
No. If you have the control weather spell, enough magic, and an admin's approval, you may be able to cause a severe storm. But this must be done with a SW or Admin. No exceptions.
I can't afford a rental cave, but I want to have a place to nest.
Then RP it! There is nothing that says you can't just RP having a nest within the caves somewhere.
I want to find pearls, lots of them!
You will have to read through our rules on the weekly pearl quest and follow those rules.
So, I'm a siren and I want to hunt landers and be evil. Can I?
Yes. While it is not against the Rusalka laws to hunt landers. It is against the laws of Valesk and aberywth. If you are caught by the warden's or the village, the Rusalka will not protect you.
I am playing a (Fill in sub species), but what lore do I follow?
Valesk has its own lore that is SPECIFIC to this sim and its RP. Please find that on the Sub Species thread and use that lore for sirens.
NOTES on some species:
Sirens must be born, not created.
Octo-Mer tentacles have their own minds.
Jelly-Mer are not effected by their own poison/sting.
Hunters are very un-socialized.
Sub Species Information
Do Merfolk have natural predators?
Yes.
Give our history (see Merfolk history) with larger sea creatures, the Merfolk are by no means the top of the food chain.
Sharks, among the smaller of those above Merfolk on the food chain, are the most common and longest standing predators of Merfolk.
MORE TO COME!
