The Merfolk of Valesk, though not all religious, do have some holidays, rites, and rituals.
These holidays and events are just ideas that the Merfolk may run, but any number of events may take place during the year, these are just examples of times when the Merfolk as a whole come together to celebrate their culture.
Rusalkan Holidays, Rites & Rituals
1. The Day of Red Rivers
To the Merfolk, this day is a day to honor those who perished. (See Merfolk History)
early august (Date is lost due to record disorganization)
2. Festival of Moons
This event usually occurs during the month of September and is a time for the Merfolk to celebrate Ceto and her creations of sea creatures and storms. Celebrating her reign over the living creatures that roam the waters, and to offer thanks for another year of safety from storms.
3. Poseidon's Praise
This event takes place in November and is a time to offer praise to Poseidon and/or Neptune as the God of the sea, and father of Tritons. Many who worship during this holiday, give offerings of thanks for strong tides, and healthy new young Tritons.
4. New Blessings
During this event, which occurs in December, is a time for Merfolk to celebrate the year's end, and offer prayers for a new and hopefully blessed year to come.
5. Sailor's Fright
On this night, which may occur throughout the year at any given time seen as fit, the Merfolk that drink of the body (blood) have a night of hunting. This is to keep them sane, to give them a night of mischief and mayhem to allow them some semblance of letting their inner sea monster out that they might be well controlled for another few months or even a year.
6. Festival of Bright Waters
During this festival, the Merfolk celebrate fresh clean, and new waters. This event usually takes place at the beginning of the year. This is a time to get together, feast, and reflect on the year that is now past, and to give hopeful ideals for the year to come.
More to come.....
