Śíbץι ℜℯωah floated down to her throne. she had only sat on it a few times since getting it. she looked down to The Captain and patted his skull, as was habit if she wandered in here from time to time. the skull lolled back to rest against the coral, the bones lightly clanking against the coral that was slowly growing over it. sitting down fully and relaxing her tail about in front of her, she settled in and waved her guards off to go stand by the cave entrance. for now, she just relaxed and waited for her kin to come for court.
Naia makes a slow and purpose entrance, surveying the surroundings with tenacious pale eyes. Spotting Sibylla, she nods to the mer and greets, "Idani." She motions to one of the seats by the throne and tilts her head, curious. "For the council?
Calix made a much less purposeful entrance. In fact, he had not met a single one of these mermaids save the siren Naia. He let out a low breath as he moved toward one of the back walls. As he pressed his back against the stone, hearing the greeting he began to say something..but as he lifted his arm, he caught a reflection in his shiny bracelet. "Oh hello there handsome...See you are back." he said softly, his voice deep but not outrageously so as most tritons. His attention for the moment, remained on his bracelet.
Venus swam up shyly and floated near the cave entrance next to a guard. She wasn't really sure what to do or where to stand. she had never been to a meeting like this. Back home she was never allowed to attended the meetings with the elders like her mother and father could. She looked around to see mer that she knew and others she did not.
Annora floated in at languid pace, swimming over the southern arch and diving to land hands-down on the ground, a small cloud of silt forming around her. Tail aloft to stir the water above her, light green hues observing those already present. "Tala, everyone~" She cooed in lyrical tones, offering a vague attempt at a friendly smile... though it seems much more akin to a smirk.
Śíbץι ℜℯωah nodded and motioned her over, "yes, Naia. please take a seat." she rest her hands over her growing abdomen and relaxed, or tried to. she much preferred to sit on the sand than a throne. but this was business, so she would bare it. as Venus arrived she motioned her as well, "please take a seat as well, Venus." she looked to the few gathered, "welcome. first... i would like to introduce myself formally as Sibylla Rewah, Idani and Mother Monarch to the waters. i know most of you names. but we may not all be know by each other. so please introduce yourselves. and then i would like to get down to business." she smiled, "i don't wish to keep you terribly long, so i will be moving at a decent pace. at the end i will ask for your questions or concerns so please also hold them for me to answer then." ((or you may IM then to me and i will address them in post
Calix turned his violet gaze to the side briefly as he saw the two females move in. Examining them but turning back down to his reflection. Hearing the Idani talk his left eye twitched at first. "Queen of mothering water speaks.. later." he said, but a whisper to his bracelet before lifting his head up. "Calix. Dread Isles will not let me return, so Naia is here...So I am here. I am sorry for your future." he said, oddly polite, and then bowed at the waist.
Venus looked to Sibylia then to the sits not really sure where to sit so she just took the one next to Naia. "My name is Venuis." she spoke softly, not use to speaking in front of a group of people. "It's very nice to meet you all."
Halia hadn't -really- been avoiding the Idani, but...okay, maybe she was. Either way, she knew better than to miss court: that's when all the games and stuff are announced! That all being said, Halia slinked quietly down the the Rusalka ruins and perched herself atop an arch, hoping not to be noticed...although those dark blue eyes DID spend some time lingering on all the new faces down here from where she sat.
Annora had turned attentive gaze towards Idani, listening to her requests and the introductions from others. When it seemed her turn she'd clear her throat, "I am named Annora, but I would be glad if you kin could call me Nora..." She trails off, not putting particular effort into her introduction verbally - but her shoulders square and she does fan out her fins a little for prettiness' sake.
Naia flickers a brief gaze to Calix and rolls her eyes. Typical Triton. His vanity superseded her own, and that's saying a lot. She inclines her head to Sibylla when she speaks and allows the others to voice their introductions before offering her own. "Naia. Idani has appointed me Vasha'i of the shoal. If you seek spiritual guidance, find me."
Śíbץι ℜℯωah smiled, her hands clasping together. "wonderful. i am pleased to formally meet you all." she eyed Halia who just arrived, "that's Halia. she missed my request of introduction." pretty much calling her out for being late. but anyway, back to business, "i am pleased we are all brought together safe. so our first order of business is for me to inform you of my goals for the mer." she paused, looking around, "i have been discussing with various people across the island of giving tribute for use of our waters. so far, those i have spoken to, have agreed and paid upfront. this... is important to me. as i want their word... and their gold on top of that word that they will help keep our home safe and clean, and in turn.... we will help guide them through storms." another pause, her hands moving down to her belly again, "the next goal on my list is to establish trade with Aberwyth. i would like us to have some sort of agreement that they will not over fish our waters, and that if we wish to sell our wares, we
can." she looked around a moment and nodded to Naia. she would introduce the new council soon.
Calix pointed a clawed finger toward Venus. "Lies. Lies." he said, his tongue clicking after each word. He didn't notice the big blue sea pigeon hiding from everyone, yet at least. He dropped his hand slowly from the point toward Venus. As Nora spoke, his eyes squinted a bit and looked over her, as her fin fanned out, his own began to tighten, clearly he misunderstood the gesture..but as Naia spoke his fins eased and he turned those violet hues toward the siren. "Wonderful...wonderful." he said, grinning for whatever reason was going through that head of his. As the Idani spoke he huffed. "Why tribute, when the landers taste...delicious..." his last word almost filled entirely of bloodlust. He scoffed though, hearing of storms. "Pardon my noises Idani, Calix is used to eating not hugging." he hissed a little, his tail swiped in the sand roughly as he leaned deeper against the stone. "I shall keep the words, in my mouth." Clearly, he had not been within a shoal in hundreds of years.
Venus smiled as she did her best to remember their names. She then looked to Calix as the male pointed at her and spoke. She gave him a confused expression. "What do you mean? I have spoken only the truth." She was not sure what he was talking about
Halia wrinkled her nose and muttered a curse when she was pointed out by Sib, inching back away from the edge of the arch she sat upon and then wiggling her fingers briefly in introduction. The mention of landers offering gold had those eyes darting toward the stairs that led to the coffers like the greedyfish she was and then back toward Sib "Who all have we worked out agreements with?" Please be the tavern. Please be the tavern. Please be the tavern.
Annora just let herself be an observant party, a mild amusement on her features at much of the banter between Venus and Calix. Though, mostly she was trying to pay attention to key points. Matching names with faces as well as keeping tabs on basically everything said. For a moment her eyes did wander upwards towards the one Idani pointed out on the archway. Eyes linger a moment, though they soon return towards the Monarch - curiously awaiting an answer to Halia's question.
Naia arches a brow at Calix' accusation aimed toward Venus. The Siren chuckles lowly, shifting pale eyes between the healer and the Triton. One part of her says she should apologize for him, perhaps explain to Venus his oddities. The other part, though, revels in the tension and discomfort his filterless mouth poses. Instead, Naia shifts to the side and begins lazily swishing her tail against the stone, stirring up small bits of sand and silt. The Siren lowers her gaze, listening without comment for the time being.
Śíbץι ℜℯωah looked over to Calix, "why hug and not eat? simple... they out number us. whether they realize it or not. they drastically out number us. we are little more than what you see before you. they have an entire island of people. if they knew how few we were... what little grip we have on our control of /our/ waters... would be gone. half of my negotiations with the Harbor Master last night was warning him of the ruin he might face at the hands of the mer should he not comply to keep our waters pure. we don't have anything to back that up. i am... struggling to say the least, until our numbers are gained once more." she rubbed at her eyes and pushed herself up straighter, "regardless of calling myself a Mother. i am for all intents and purposes a Queen. and i do understand how these things work. for now... tribute is asked. if they refuse or break their word or payment... then we will feast." she looked to Halia, "Lady Elizabeth, or i think some call her Denny. and the Harbor Master. Lady Valkyrie is next on my list." she explained. "but as i said before you arrived, please hold questions till the end. i will answer all of them." she went on, "next on my list is making sure that you all know our laws and the rights we have as Merfolk and as Rusalka." and she went on to explain these.
Calix looked to Venus and only mouthed 'lies' before clicking his tongue. Arms crossed tightly to his stomach. His attention was focused on the 'liar' for quite a bit, until Naia put her gaze on him and he eased a little bit.. at first. "Out number you, Idani. All the rotting, fleshless, bone ridden members of each" and he pointed "and everyone one of your" at each of them besides Naia. "Family are able to help us. One only must ask nicely!" he tilted his head, smiling. "Feast." was all he heard Idani say, but he nodded as if he understood and agreed with everything else. His brow lowered as he was told to hush, politely, but told. He leaned against the wall, and did not speak. Yet.
Venus didn't understand the male nor what she had done to make him distrust her. She decided to sit quietly and listen as Sibylia spoke. She had nothing to really add. Trading and such was not of her knowledge.
Halia twitched her lips about the holding questions until later thing and rolled over onto her back to stare at the stone ceiling of the cavern. Her tail draped over the edge listlessly and she began running her fingers through her hair, splaying them so that she could work out the tangles the current beneath the waves worked into her endlessly messy hair. Hanging upside down there, she allowed herself to look more at the others, now that there was no point in pretending she wasn't really there. Like any self-respecting mermaid those blue hues locked in on the only male of the group for much longer than would be considered polite before then moving on to the mermaid beneath her, and the staff she was going to have to claim as her own some day here, soon... Rules, though, they really just went in one ear and out the other. "That woman is obnoxious. All Dahhhhhhhhhhhhling this and dahhhhhhhhhhhhhhling that. I want tribute any time I have to listen to her talk..."
Annora had absolutely no idea who any of these people were that they had these agreements with, but she took note of names and such. The banter between Calix and Venus was amusing, sure, though the sass from the blue maid upon the arch gained much of her attention. A soft chuckle made way for escape, but she did her best to respectfully stifle it back into a quiet smirk. Shifting her weight, she would move to lay in the sand instead of hover above it - doing her best to look like a model citizen who's paying super-close attention to important stuff. Mhm.
Naia lifts her eyes to Halia, taking a slow survey of the mermaid that likewise leaves the realm of polite observance. Her comment about receiving tribute for listening to a lander talk makes Naia snort. Yes, an actual mirth-filled snort. Annora receives the same treatment as Halia: a full visual shakedown from the silver Siren. Only then does she speak, her gaze shifting to Sibylla. "It only takes one actual example, Idani, to renew landers' fear of the Mer that lurk within the waters. Should some foolish biped the opportunity to remind them why we are to be feared, I would suggest we take it. /If/..." Naia emphasizes the word, inclining her head to Sibylla. "...one disrespects our home and Kin."
Śíbץι ℜℯωah rolled her shoulders, "while i do appreciate your offer. and i am sure i understand it.... we are not a shoal of warring. this is not Hokoth, nor the Dread Isles at all. i do not claim peace with the landers. hell, there are a few i'd rather eat. but for now. i would like... a balance. i have no issue with slaying them should they offend our waters, our people, or our gods. but until that happens... we will leave them be." she took a breath, bubbles coming from her lips, "next is to explain that i require no oath of you as kin. some shoals would ask that you oath to their Monarch. i do not want you to simply pledge your obedience to me. i just want you to follow the laws we have. if you don't then you will be punished. simple as that. there is no exceptions. i am not exempt from my own laws, nor would i ever try to be. the laws are there to keep us at peace with each other, and to protect us as a whole. so.. no oath-ing your allegiance to me... just follow the laws. that's all i ask." she had to clear her
throat to stop herself from laughing at Halia's words. it was true. she wanted to ask that woman for tribute with ever word she said but. back to business, "ok.. next on the list is introducing the new council and speak about their paths that you all may take, and letting you all know there are still three open positions left." (just pretend there's a third chair xD) she turned to Naia, "oh believe me... it will be taken if the opportunity arises. i have no issue at all reminding them what we can do. almost all of their livelihood comes on ships. take out the right one... and we could ruin them for a time and remind them just who we are. but as i said.. not yet. but i thank you for your input." she smiled, giving them all a moment before she went on to talk of council.
Calix continued watching the liar. His eyes settled deeply...and then the perched mermaid began annunciating terrible and his eyes shot up there, and then to the quiet model citizen..but as Naia spoke his gaze pulled back. Nodding, like a happy puppy being teased with a treat, drool would have been pouring from his mouth nearly at the thought...if he was above water. "If..If.." he knew the emphasis was for him. Obviously. "Disrespect...we boil their blood from the inside, make them dance like.... like faeries under the moon." he made hand gestures like he had marionette sticks. As Sib spoke, he really nodded this time, actually agreeing with her...stipulations. He knew landers, they got hard dicks and felt like they were Cetos spawn more often than not.
Venus looked around at the mer. She had listened to them and was a bit concerned. "Maybe we can talk with the landers before having to resort to such...drastic measures?" She said softly. She didn't want to hurt anyone even the landers. "Maybe I can hone in my abilities and foresee unfortunate events so we can avoid the hassle and the blood shed" As she spoke she looked to Sibylia, proposing her idea for consideration.
Halia would have, under normal circumstances, been totally egged on by the snorts of laughter she'd garnered. The mermaid was, if nothing else, a complete slave to her own desire of being the center of attention. Something about the way Sibyll was moving through court, though, kept Halia offering little more than a playful wink to those below before she resumed combing out her hair. Her hand stopped, though, when the male started talking about boiling blood. Her chin lifted so she could peer at him once more with that upside-down gaze and offer a simple "Gross." before resuming her thankless task. Her eyes flicked briefly over the empty council seats, as if contemplating being seated there..or perhaps wondering where someone who should be seated there might be. When the peaceful mer spoke up Halia snorted "Mhmm, you can join my club: Lander Lubbers. So far it's....it's just me, so... so you can be a captain"
Annora rose a brow as she glanced towards the male and his talk of blood boiling. For the first time, she actually gave him a once-over glance as if sizing him up. It was curious, though she did broaden her shoulders again. Perhaps, this time, not particularly for show. "... hoe poetic." She murmured. Sarcasm soon subsided as another soft chuckle released at the land lubbers bit. "It seems that anything topside will have to fall to consensus... or, in this case, compromise... considering that the view on landers is so very... split." The obvious split in opinions seems to give her some sort of dark amusement. Half of her hoped there'd be a fight. The rest of her was content with pointing out the obvious.
Naia 's entire body grew tense as Venus spoke, even her tail going rigid for a few seconds before a shudder relaxed the strong muscles. "Please remember, Venus, that not all Mer are inclined to be so amiable as you. Yet we still will do nothing to endanger our Kin. And that's all that really matters. /Our/ well-being, and the welfare of our sustaining waters. The gods and goddesses do /not/ compel us to be bosom buddies with landers. They expect us to look after our own." A side glance travels to Calix, his words bringing a smile to her lips. Yeah, if it ever comes to bleeding a lander, you know who will volunteer first. Naia motions to Annora, her gaze following. "There is no consensus. Idari has spoken. We do not harm the landers unless they harm what is ours first." Slowly, the Siren slinks into a more relaxed pose upon her chair, smirking. "But I will offer my tail to Ceto's wrath before I getting along with landers unless I'm getting something in return. I know where my loyalties lie." Her tail flips
once, sending a strong current of water away from her. "Right here."
Śíbץι ℜℯωah clapped her hands together gently, "alright. so... Venus is our new Tiald, she is head healer for us. and Naia is Vasha'i, the religious leader. now. the way i have drawn up the paths, you all may take the title Sienbel, and begin your training below each of the council members and learn what they do. we also have a path under the Vorbel, our general for those who wish to protect the shoal. and there is a path under the Edaru, for those who wish to learn our lore, history, and study the laws." she looked over to Venus, smiling softly, "that is what the tributes are for. if they comply, they are not just paying us or giving us gifts. they are making a promise to keep our waters clean, free of their trash, and to use it properly. that means no over fishing, no taking things that below to us without permission. when they break that agreement, they understand already they are asking for a feast. it is not a rash action. we give them time and chance to offer apology and correct the problem. a feast has a few
steps. worry not. if the time ever comes, i will explain. it is far more.. organized than you think." she already had one planned out just for emergencies. "anyway. back to business. so. if you wish to apply for council, please speak with me after. and if you wish to become a Sienbel and begin a path, speak with either me or Venus or Naia depending on the path. i am overseeing the paths without council members." she rubbed at her back a moment, "next order of business, what do /you/ all want to see from or for us? what do you want us to reach towards or do or accomplish?" she did smile to Naia in thanks of her words on matters as well.
Calix snorted at Venus..and then looked at the perched mer... and his hackles rose. Finally the model citizen spoke and he squinted a bit as he was still processing. As Naia spoke, his body -once again- relaxed. It was good he had one like minded person around or it's hard to tell what the trigger happy necromancer would be in line to do. "No eating unless they harm us." he repeated, reluctant..but he accepted it. Nodding to Naia's passionate words as he agreed entirely. As the Idani spoke....he just drew quiet. In fact, he made direct eye contact and shook his head.
Venus looked up to the Naia. "I believe you misunderstand me. My want to avoid fighting is solely for the sake of our people. I never want to see anyone hurt, it is of my very nature as a healer to try and avoid situations that could cause anyone harm. Though I know I maybe talking to deaf ears about avoid conflict at all cost, I still must. I will be here to render aid to anyone that needs it though I pray to the Gods that I will not have to be healing battle wounds." she spoke with more confidence. She looked to Sibylia "The only thing I wish is for everyone to be healthy., So if it is ok with you I wish to preform checks on everyone and monitor their health. That way we can be prepared for any illness that may happen, especially the ones that can spread to others. It would be a terrible things for our defenses to be down because of a preventable illness."
Halia pulled her brows together and rolled over onto her belly, her neatly manicured if not slightly-beastly fingernails scratching against the stone as she clung to it, her azure gaze fixating on the two that seemed so hell-bent on feeding upon and bleeding the landers. She pressed her lips together as Sibylla spoke and then when she concluded Halia parted them, spilling an opinion that was so very not on-topic with the Idani's agenda for this meeting. "The inhabitants of this Isle look upon us as a savior of sorts. I know not what you did in your last land but you'll not ruin the relationship we've established with them. Dozens that walk the land today were helped ashore by myself, my mate, Sibylla, Kenz-" she cut herself off and nostrils flared as she exhaled a short breath, a flurry of bubbles rising up over her face. "Your bloodthirst is of no interest here, call yourself council, or not." those fingernails tapped angrily against the stone and Halia pushed off of it, so that she drifted down to brush
her tail against the sand "What would I like to see, /Idani/? I'd like to see council members that would do well to remember who we are on this Isle." The look she shot toward Naia and Calix in that moment held nothing of the playful jests she'd said earlier and filled only with malice. Her mood had obviously soured and the mermaid turned her gaze on Venus, saying only "Your Gods don't hear you, here"
Annora shrugged a passive shoulder as the moonlight-hued siren snapped at her suggestion of consensus. That slightly crooked lilt to her own lips remained, though she would turn eyes on the healer as she spoke her part - though gaze soon shot towards the flustered blue maid as everything went the way of telenova. Ah, now things were starting to truly grab her attention. "Pray tell," She began, not addressing anyone in particular - but all of them as a whole. "...what of those of us that -require- blood for sustenance?"
Naia keeps her eyes on Sibylla, regardless to whom her words are directed. "I would never expect a passive-minded Mer to participate in more unsavory affairs that are necessary for the welfare of the shoal. I would expect those pacifists to show the same regard for those of us who..." A clawed hand motions to Annora. "...require blood to survive. Do we randomly attack and kill landers to sate this need? No. For my part, I carefully select and plan every meal so that it will not reflect poorly on the shoal. However..." She smiles, head tilting as the gaze and intent is directed at Sibylla. "If my...blood lust is not welcome, Idani, I willing forfeit my council position and take my leave. I will unfortunately have to relate to Sirens beyond these waters they are not welcome." Naia pushes up with her fit to float up from the seat. "The gods are not deaf. They are silent. It is the devoteds' duty to discover why."
Śíbץι ℜℯωah nodded to Venus, "if the people agree. i will not demand it as they are the keepers of their own bodies. but if you wish to check health, then by all means, approach them later and ask." she shot her eyes to Halia, "hold your tongue if you wish to speak against your own kin. i will not have argument at court. i have already stated a feast is only for emergency situations or serious offense. i do not plan to partake in one any time soon. many of the mer who come here are not acquainted with the more laid back life you and i were gifted with once, Halia. it will take time to adjust." hell, Syb was still adjusting to Valesk, and she had been here for a long ass time. rubbing at her temple, she put her smile back on. she looked down to Nora, "don't get caught. we do not have laws against feeding on landers. don't feed on kin without permission. if you feed on landers... do it outside the village or the docks. don't get caught and don't kill. the Warden's will be on your ass if you kill someone and i can't
help you if they catch you." she shook her head, "next order of business is to inform you that the study area above us, up the stairs behind Calix, is for everyone. yes you have to walk through the treasury, it's guarded, don't steal blah blah on that. but anyway, the study is open for all. and there are caves you can explore as well, and a tunnel that leads to the lower Aberwyth docks. and a little river that leads to the bath house. so please feel free to search around this island and explore our home." she looked to Naia, nearly facepalming herself. well this was going wonderfully! "Naia... i am a siren. the child growing inside of me is a siren. she will be born screaming for blood. why would you think that is not welcome here?" she motioned for her to sit back down, "now... back on track." she sighed, "next order of business is to inform you all that this saturday at 3pm ((SLT)), we will be hosting another round of games for everyone who wishes to attend. you are all welcome as are landers. this is a
good bonding time... or a time to scope out your next meal... whichever you see fit to occupy the games with." she chuckled a bit, "and with that... questions?"
Calix kept quiet, but as speak of leaving was mentioned he pushed off. Hearing the blue haired one speak toward Naia that way made him flash his teeth. And then hearing Naia's words he nearly began to lose his shit. Clawed fingers pressing into his scaled tail as he moved closer to Naia. Luckily...Sib this time was what calmed him. Reminding Halia that Sib herself was a siren, and all kin. "This laid back, will not happen. Things i've seen. Make your trades, make your peace..." he said, turning to Sib. "When the day comes, the landers begin raping and killing our kin.. We can be here to bleed each and every one of them for Ceto." he said, his demeanor nearly entirely turned. No ignorant seeming vanity. Turning to Naia he looked at her a moment. "I will not...feast in appropriately." he said softly.
Halia shot her icy glare at Sibylla a moment before folding her arms over her chest and sinking down into the sand, back resting against the pillar like a sulking teenager. Clearly, she was done commenting for a while.
Venus looked to Halia with a smile "I have faith that they do." she looked to Naia "Please do not leave." she smiled softly. "I know the Gods are there. They wouldn't abandon us."
Annora tries not to outright smile as Halia hassles the moonlight-hued councilmer. Better yet when Naia near-about leaves the court in a flurry of fins and drama. Delicious. Attention turns towards Idani as she speaks about discretion, and that's all she really needs to hear. She nods agreeably, quietly assuring that she'd heed those rules. Reguarding feeding off landers, along with all of the blood related comments Helix made. "Well, all this talk is making me famished..." A bioluminescent hue took the siren's kelp-colored gaze and she'd push off from the sand. "I have learned much, and respect to you all. Before it gets the better of me, though I must find a willing participant..." With a quiet bow of her head to those seated, she'd take her leave. Passing Halia on her way out she'd manage a wink and call a quick, "Lusa em~" To anyone who cared to listen. ((see you all around ♥))
If Naia could bat her lashes and look innocent, she probably would, but that is a farce that the Siren is unwilling to even attempt. She is not innocent, and neither is she nice, but the silvery religious one /is/ cautious and very purposeful. About what she says, what she does...everything. Naia doesn't even look at Halia because gloating would be petty and, frankly, quite useless. Sibylla's exasperation is met with a seemingly recalcitrant nod, her clawed hands spreading slowly. "Apologies, Idani. The lovely teal Mermaid was quite vehement. The last thing I wish to do is cause distress..." LIAR! "...in the shoal." Naia does take a moment to shoot an angry gaze back to Calix, a look many a man who recognize as 'we'll take about this later...in private...where there are no witnesses.' Though she does not take her seat again, the Siren does remain just where she is. "Yes, Venus, they are there. You and I finally agree on something," she muses, smiling at the Mermaid.
Śíbץι ℜℯωah smiles as it all seems to end on a.... mostly good note. "alright then. well.. with that. court is over." she rubbed at her eyes and pushed herself from her throne, the wooden surface not good on her back, "i do believe i need food as well and thank you Naia for your apology. though it's not really you i need it from." she shit a slight glance to Halia but she needed food and so did her typist so she would wander off to go food and ooc for a whileŚíbץι ℜℯωah smiles as it all seems to end on a.... mostly good note.
