In the interest of expanding upon the demon race, and keeping it concise and easy to work with on creation or re-roll (if necessary). Originally considering the 7 deadly sins, but I feel like that might be too many options and just lead to confusion, so I’ve pared it down to three options based on the ‘holy trinity’ of gaming or in this case, a fighter, mage and stealth class.
The trick is that as demons start with 25 points (26 if they’re beta players), they have their Trueform that gives them a bump of +5 trait points, currently distributed towards Fighting, Strength, Resolve, and Reflexes. This is actually a pretty good spread for someone geared towards straight melee combat, but it doesn’t lend itself well towards someone wanting to play a spellcaster or an assassin or a thief or something.
Fighter (Infernal Infantry)*
+1 Fighting, +2 Strength, +1 Resolve, and +1 Reflexes.
Mage (Infernal Doomsayer)
+2 Knowledge, +1 Magic, +1 Resolve, +1 Shadow
Rogue (Infernal Assassin)
+1 Strength, +2 Shadow, +1 Huntsman, +1 Reflex
*Literally the same as how demons are now.
I recommend we change nothing else about the creation process for demons on the surface, but it would be nice to add some more Demon-Specific gifts to pick from? Right now we have all of 5 total, but they’re split up between two groups and you’re limited to 1 out of 3 and 1 out of 2… I think we should just combine these pools. Let the demon pick two from the list of options and then add a few extra skills in there just to keep it simple. I don’t think someone taking both the magic specialty and a natural weapon is going to impact things too badly for example.
Also note that I didn't give more than +1 to the Fighting, Magic, or Huntsman skills as they're your standard 'offensive' stats, and same goes for the Resolve and Reflexes for the same reason. Should mitigate people having a modified stat higher than 8 on creation.
Some ideas for skills that would be nice to see;
Seduce/Charm
-Similar to Imposed Demand spell with a 2 post cast, but limited down to requiring eye contact.
Active Camouflage
-Exactly like it sounds, gives a +2 to Shadow rolls when trying to hide but must be holding still and not taking ANY actions.
Overgrown natural weapons (Requires the Medium natural weapons)
-Makes the natural weapons Large types instead of Mediums. Still the same type of natural weapons, just bigger and meaner.
Well Learned Demon*
-+1 to Knowledge
Speed Demon
-+1 to Reflexes
Stalker
-+1 to Huntsman
*This could theoretically allow a Mage type demon get a total of around 9 (6 to start +2 from type and +1 from gift) Knowledge... I dun think this is really overpowered as it's not a combat skill and demons legitimately are known for being knowledgeable at times.
